I'm not bashing the game or the class, I'm only level 10 so I have very little to go on BUT I feel more like a rogue class that uses his bow to pull instead of a Elven archer/ranger firing off a volly of arrows in combat. What I wanted to know is, does it get any better than this? I'm feeling a little let down by rangers in EQ2. I just don't see rangers as a scout subclass.

Hi there. Aye, at level 10, you haven't even begun to taste what it's like a little later on. At around level 20, you'll really start to feel like a ranged class. At mid to high 20's....that's when you'll REALLY start to feel like a ranger. Hang in there. Almost all of us felt the same way when we first started to play. Trust me, it gets better.

Zholain is right.

Youre really just a scout right now...maybe a predator...you will be a fully functional ranger at late 20's...every class is like that really.

You dont get all your class spells or ca's till mid late 20's.

Thank you both, you've given me what I need to keep going in the game and as a ranger. I'm not worried about being gimped, or even out-classed as people seem to be telling me, I just love ranger classes and the feel and roleplay is much more important to me.

Not really sure why I'm posting as both above have stated exactly the case. I guess I just feel like talking today.

I felt exactly like you. I was a Ranger in EQ1, and was very disappointed through the first 20 levels of becoming a Ranger in EQ2. When I became a Ranger at 20 (back when we had to do the quest to become one), I started to get more ranged CA's. When I hit the mid-20's, I bought the best bow I could afford. That made a world of difference, and throughout my 30's and now, my 40's, I rarely use melee unless soloing... and even then it's purely out of necessity.

Good luck and have fun. :smileyhappy:

Message Edited by Hogsnine on 06-16-2006 08:13 AM

Well you just wait till you get some nice bow ca's. Find a big gnoll to irritate and when he comes running at you and you shoot him dead as he is running up to you...it will be very sweet indeed.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting Wooden

Agreed, when I was in tier 2, by the time I hit tier 3 (level 20) it just didn't occur to me to use a bow. Now it's probably much better with choosing your class at level 1. By level 30, things shifted and I finallly realized how much fun it was to be Ranger in this game. Of course, much has happened since, but that's a LONG story for the Ranger community, of which volumes have been written. :robothappy: Regardless, you will do just fine when you get to 30...hang in there.

Nor do I. I don't feel like an archer. I mean i 'm also a blade warrior and, what is important, a scout too. Please don't the rangers be some bowman!
