<DIV>I am a lowly level 21 ranger.  Up to this point, I have used my bow (of course) for ranged and two pierce weapons in melee.  I was wondering if it would not be better to switch to slash type dual wield melee weapons since that would give me 2 damage types (pierce from arrows and slash with melee).   Does this make sense or should I stick with pierce all around?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks!</DIV>

You only level your piercing and slashing skills via melee.  So, it's best to have at least one of each weapon.  Your bow will only level your ranged skill regardless of the type of arrow you are using.

<DIV>As a 61 ranger, I use a piercing in my primary and a slasher in my secondary. But of course I keep a bow in the ranged... it is our bread and butter. (if I find a mob worth my arrows)</DIV>

I agree with the general consensus. Use one of each to keep your skills up melee-wise. The only thing our ranged attacks raise is Archery. <div></div>

<P>I concur on the concurrment.</P> <P>Get a pokie type weapon and a cutty type weapon...and use both at the same time.  If you are a sword and board player as well, try to pick up both a one handed pokie weapon and a one handed cutty weapon and switch out from time to time.</P> <P>Me personally I have always enjoyed using the leafblade (pokie type weapon) and a spatha or other small sword (cutty type weapon).  I originally tried to be a sword and board as well but it got too expensive to get legendary on all five (2 dual wield, 2 one handed, and one shield).  I was wearing myself out harvesting and trying to save up for the rares to make them.</P> <P>Good Luck and Happy Hunting</P> <P>Saihung</P>

<DIV>I concur with the concurrance of the concurment...  o_O</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>ummm.. yeah.. what they all said.  keep one slash, one pierce, one bow and that will keep all your skills up.  as far as what style of piercer or slasher, I just look at whatever weapon has the best stats.  Im not going to pick a 8 str leafblade when i can get a 12 str rapier (for example), of course given that the attack rating is the same.</DIV>

I actually began to break this rule in T6 and T7... I actually used 2 Legendary slashers most of the time, til I got a Fabled piercer that had better DR than both of em. As long as I rotated a piercer or two in once in a while to keep my skill up, the difference was negligible.
