Sorry for the long post - sharing my PVP experience of the Ranger class could be usefull to othersSo after 30days playtime i eventually ding 70 on my Ranger on Darathar PVP.Things haven't been easy since alot of gankers tend to wanna spoil your xp runs and missing some essential classes to make efficient groups at higher levels seemed challenging. Xping started out fairly easy with me being able to easily solo same con solo mobs - ^ mobs seemed much tougher and were touch and go.Higher levels yielded some great DPS ca's like sniper shot / Veiled fire and also Snaring Shot etc which made xping / getting the kills easier.Ranger melee is rather poor and even in defensive stance i'm taking quite a bashing from same con mobs.So i figured: when in PVP - getting the jump is 90% of the fight. If someone pounces you it's game over in most cases - unless you're lucky and they fluff it. EVen when getting the jump a fight COULD turn ugly - Bruisers deflect sniper / Veiled and you're in a world of pain.So there i am kitted to the bone with gear that will help me kill my primal nemises. Brigands / Assasins are my main targets - since they can track me and cause problems i don't really want to see. Anything else i come across is really fair game and could go either way, except for cloth wearers who just fall over and die as i take my bow out.Totems: Using Vision Totems of the Butterfly allows me to track both invis / stealthed targets - these are invaluable. Without them you are waiting to be 1shotted by some lvl 70 assasin with decapitation up. Not good. So i use them 90% of the time in areas there are likely to be Freeporters camping.Melee is a problem for me - finding that even a green con tank that has good gear proving to be a melee nightmare in some cases. And i'm saying some. Bluecon assasins can melee you down if they get the right CA's down , as with Brigands who just stun lock you to death. So taking these classes down 1st is a requirement. If i get jumped , depending on class ( not that any ranger should get jumped at all tho ) i evaluate my situation and decide wethere to make a hastey retreat or not . In most cases i try not waste Evac on something like that , i'd rather try and make a run for it using the terrain to my advantage. If thres high places - jump off em , people mostly follow and crater other classes like bruisers / scouts have safe fall so be weary.AA lines proves very helpfull too: I chose the AGI / INT lines to start with.4 AGI4 Point Blank Shot4 Combat Speed8 Crit chance with ranged4 Int4 Int debuff style4 Int debuff proc5 Crit chance with magicAs you can see i didn't bother much with Poise as i felt it's really a waste of 8pts. I will however spec the final skill in the Int line - which would be tested later. This spec i find gives me a good overall character with some strong points in poisons critting , and bow critting ALOT.Gear is also very important on pvp - same level character with crap gear will definately feel the sharp edge of the blade much more. I managed to get quite a few rares / Masters along the way so luck was with me. We haven't raided much higher level content just yet , but hope to soon be able to get some really super T7 FABLED stuff. Right now i have a full set Xegonite chain and some Acrylia jewlry , as well as Grizfazzles bow ( ROCKS !) I would recommend this bow to and 65+ ranger. So as far as good gear goes , i think my char is doing "ok".I've had some fights where i lose , and some where i don't - 90% of the cases where i get the jump fights are over very quick without taking a hit. Main DPS CA's snare and kite some. Use Rain of Arrows etc CA's that you can use while moving. as well as your Surveil type skill to stealth and fire CA's while being chased - sometimes works too.I'll give some updates later as to how things are going on Darathar - Right now pvp encounters are mainly restricted to some areas - Sinking Sands / Tenebrous Tangle / Bonemire etc.The real challenge with the range is being able to use your tracking properly to find the right targets , and avoid being detected. I'm loving here. Here's a shot of me pouncing a lvl 70 Brigand any comments welcome.
