View Full Version : What Poisons do you use?
<DIV>Hope I'm not intruding here but maybe I can get some help. Lev 57 Alchemist on Steamfont, also a Wizard, as you probably know since I can't use poisons I can't actually read the real damage or procs on them. I try and keep a stock of useful ones on the market at fair prices but with limited room I can't carry them all. So just wondering what T6 poisons you would all like to see made available as the people who actually use and depend on them? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Appreciate any input you have</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Well, i usually use the high upfront low DoT dmg ones... So one with as high initial dmg as possible would be nice. Also the poison with the debuff to poison dmg is cool <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> (available to lvl 54 alchie iirc) ++Xan <div></div>

<font size="2">I haven't used many legendary t6 poisons yet, as there haven't been many up for sale on Highkeep. And I can't remember the legendary ones I have purchased(at work atm). The standard handcrafted ones that I use are Ravaging Disruption damage poison, and Bite of the Shissar poison debuff. Both of those seem to be very popular on my server...I'll see an alchy post a healthy supply of them in the morning, and by the end of the day on weekends, they'll be gone. </font><div></div>

Phantasmic Visions T6 common poison... attacking as fast as us scouts do it almost gaurantees a completely stuned mob during the fight, especially from ranged attacks. It's a must have.

<P>Strike of Glox for pierce and crush debuff. Gives a very nice bump to all ranged CA's (IMO more then what you get from the poison debuff).</P> <P> </P>

<DIV>I've been a big fan of Translucent Inpenatrable Barrier. It's another of those high damage - low DoT poisons. I've noticed a significant decrease in damage when I don't have it.</DIV>

what cat said, all the time. probably will only use legendary for raiding cause the common stuff is so good already for everyday stuff
Wait... you mean we can use poisons??
<DIV>i use the best DD poison i could find which is adeste's disruption and with a decent poison debuff it's doing around 550dmg a proc. for raid mobs i also will throw on either horrendous atrophe which slows the mob by 25% or Kendricke's Stifling Solution-go figure what it does.</DIV>

I have recently purchased some Circle of Sanctuary poison! It's great! 256 DD and like 36 DOT. Combine this with a poison debuff and let the Mobs come. I do tend to notice that I draw a lot more aggro with this poison then the lower DD poison. The mob is usually close to dead before it gets near me though, so that's ok. It's a level 30 posion, I think.

<DIV>I use Very Large upfront or Large upfront / smaller dot. I see some of you prefer using the poison debuff over others like crushing/piercing debuff. I don't completely understand why, but I am assuming because it decreases the poison mitigation. Would it be more beneficial to use a medium or large DD than the very large b/c you're using a poison debuff and would get greater effects? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I thought our ranged dmg was piercing dmg, so I was thinking that crush/pierce debuff would be great. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Because I can't rely on anyone else atm to make my poisons/potions i've gotten my alchemist to lv 20 to make my own. I think it's stupid you can't see the "real" value of items that you can't use. How do they expect ppl to compare items?!?</DIV>

Ranged CA's do damage based on the type of arrow equipted. Normal summoned arrows do pierce damage (why I like to use the pierce debuff poison). Hunting arrows do slashing damage and Rounded arrows do crushing damage. Since mobs are no longer immune to multiple types of damage you can get by with just having two damage type arrows.
<DIV>Thanks. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I suppose I'll have to test em both out to see if I like one over the other.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

For Tier 6, I've been using Ravaging Disruption mostly (307 upfront, 50 DoT) as a cheap, high damage poison. I've had a few Soul Bane made (66 upfront, 173 DoT) for heroics that would take longer to die when grouping, but lately they've been dying so fast when I'm in a group and the poison is proc'n so often when I use my bow that I'm leaning much more heavily on Ravaging Disruption for the high upfront damage. I've seen Strike of Glox (piercing/crushing) on the market, and it sounds like a good debuff poison to pair with it, but I haven't used it yet. I've never seen the Phantasmic Visions poison Rahmn posted about... I've gotta get me some of that stunnage goodness! <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> <div></div>

<p></p>I have a level 40 something alchemist and still using up my tier 4 legendary poisons like Maniacal Ramage, Touch of the Rotbone, Circle of Sanctuary - Whenever I solo I always have Touch of the Beholder in my inventory it's a tier 3 legendary poison (level 27 or 2<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> that is a 3 second stun and procs OFTEN. With some blue/green con heroics, they don't even touch me with this. I open with hidden fire, then triple fire, (usually stunned), then leg shot and proceed with my other ranged CA's - my touch of the beholder poison usually keeps them stunned most of the fight to allow me to continue to use my ranged CA's but if not, by the time they get to me they're almost dead and I can finish them off easily with melee. <p></p><p>Message Edited by Stormykat on <span class=date_text>10-26-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:28 AM</span>

i go for bigger DoT myself <span>:smileytongue:</span> prob mostly from habit as much as anything else <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> <p></p>
<P></P> <P>Personally I prefer high up front DMG...</P> <P>I use Adeste's Disruption for DMG of 450ish up front, with a 25% proc rate it hits almost all the time, providing a nice DPS boost. Depending on the circumstances, I will use the legandary T6 pierce, slash/crush, or poison resist debuffing poisons. While in exp groups I will use the Phantasmic Visions for stun poison. I like the fact that all three of these types can be on at the same time, helps alot when soloing too.</P>
