New Ranger here

<DIV>Hello everyone New Ranger here.  I have been a casual player and have take some looooong breaks so I deceided to level up my ranger and have fun.  Well I came to a delima.  What is the best Armor and Weapons to use?  My Ranger is currently level 22.  Should I go with Chain Armor or with Leather?  I have been using leaf blades, but is there another melee weapon I should use?  What Bow should I use? My plan is to have all rare Armor and weapons for my Ranger Currently I have 2 silver clusters set aside for my new weapons.  Thankfully I hve a level 50 Tailor Alt to finance me <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also could someone please explain poisons to me?  Do they last a certain amount of time?  Till you die?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am sure I will have some more questions but thanks in advnace. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

If you're not going to get lengendary tier armor then best armor for you to get would be your AQ armor.  It beats out player made armor(except for rare) in stats, and is usually geared towards your class.  As far as poisons are concerned, poisons duration is based on amount of procs/type or time. If you never fight, then the poison will last for 12 hours then will fade. Depending on the type of poison is to how many procs it has.  25% poisons will proc 200 times(legendary less) 20% will proc 80 times When it reaches the max amount of procs it poofs and is gone.  Poisons are additional proc damage applied to weapons which proc randomly.  More often with ranged weapons, and there is a formula as to why. <div></div>

<P>I'd go with chain armor.  Carbonite and a whatever Armor quest ones you can get.</P> <P>Get a Stormfire bow from Stormhold if you can (really long quest).  Or get an imbued Cedar longbow.</P> <P>For melee weapons I'd recommend an imbued short sword and Imbued daggar or Sai.  This way you level both your slashing and piercing.</P>

<font size="2">I hate to do this to you, but that is purely personal preferance according to your playstyle.  Light armor tends to give slightly better strength stats which is beneficial for grouping as you shouldn't be getting hit all that much and you can maximize your damage output.  Chain armor has much better mitigation, which is very advantaqgeous when soloing. I have tried both, and I now wear chain exclusively and probably will continue to do so. One distinct advantage to rare light armor...it tends to be much cheaper than rare medium. </font><div></div>

Thanks Zholain, you post actually helped me.  I will just have to carry two sets, although I can see I will probally get my chain set first.  I won't start using both till I get to level 30 and can actually participate in some raids.   I tend to solo alot so it looks like it will be chain for now.  I will probally do the AQ quests so I can have something on till I can get all the money together for the set of rare chain.  This will cost me about 1.5pp sheesh I guess my taylor needs to get to work <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Another thing about the lighter armor is it tends to provide more of a strength bonus, where medium armor tends to be geared more towards the agility bonus.  So like Zhol said, it all really depends on your playstyle.  <div></div>
