personally like a paladin, they can tank ward and heal and the scout can concentrate on the damage

LOL, so you know this question gets asked repeatedly, but you're asking it again? Search is your friend! Not that I mind answering (again), but you might get the info you're looking for faster by reading through the previous threads on this topic.

That said, I agree with Hiero, the paladin is a good choice. Overall I think a tank / scout is a fun pair for duoing anyway, and the pally gives you some flexibility within that arrangement, especially by bringing some limited healing ability to the table. A ranger doesn't want to be stuck in frontal melee if s/he can help it, so it's very good to have a tank that can hold aggro while the ranger goes all out. That said, if you're the tank, make sure you always upgrade your taunts, and ask your friend to start fights with his low-damage attacks and work his way up to the heavy hitters, or he's going to pull aggro from you and end up hurtin.

Having a semi-healer is nice and he can usually keep the aggro off of me, well, unless I hit the mobs with a triple shot...seems to make the mobs angry and I can't seem to figure out why. :smileywink: I usually try to wait on this attack until Canth has the aggro well in hand. I also warn him if I'm going to try to poison everything quickly before concentrating on a single mob so he can taunt what I plan to hit.

When we want to go for big game, we will usually pull in a healer friend, but the two of us seem to get into a lot of places that we couldn't do alone.

Message Edited by Fallnangel13 on 07-21-2005 12:06 PM

not the "best" but a very fun combo is Ranger - Ranger.

To be effective you have to learn some techniques, but any good ranger already knows them. The simple rules are:

1) Don't stand together, you want to have some distance between. Ideally you should start on opposite sides of the mobs, but there are otherways to force the same situation.

2) Only target something that hass its back to you and is at bow range. That means you ignore the mob attacking you and fire at the mob attacking the other ranger. Don't worry, the other rangerr is doing the same thing. keep this up till there is only 1 mob.

If you get this working right you can have the stupid mobs spending some of their timing running between the two of you. Of course you need to modify the strategy for diiferent type of mobs especially tanks. and the two rules above are very very simplistic ... I can assure you that you will have fun working out how to use the combo to its fullest.

I have to agree that I love the Pally/Ranger combo. It's also the foundation of the best trio group I've come across. My pally and I grab a chanter and head out to Everfrost for the best XP grinding I've ever experienced. Chanter's Breeze turns Pally into a butt-saving, self-healing machine which when combined with mezz allows him to tank mobs way over our heads and the XP just rolls in. Great fun when you're out for some loot-whoring. Oh yeah, and pallys are the second HOTTEST class, next to rangers of course /wink.

i say warden, cus im biased and i group with my ranger mate all the time, and we kick butt, serious butt :p i tank usually and can keep agro on the heroics no problem due to my healing (you know, healing agro is good sometimes) and i tank fine with 60 avoidance and 55 mit (or something like that) we take named easy but sometimes he has problems hitting mobs (he's a bit low) so who needs taunts? just become a warden and heal!
