View Full Version : Problems with Charm?

I've just begun to have problems with our charm. I used to use it all the time. It was a risk, because when it broke, whatever i'd charmed would attack me. It also confused some groups. But it was fun and useful, and I could even get the charmed mob to do a little damage forme (even though i know the description said that shouldn't work). It seems like it was changed so that if you order your new pet to do something it breaks the charm. That's fine, but it also breaks the encounter. What's more even if i don't order the pet, the encounter breaks (the entire encounter, not just the pet) and we receive no credit. That makes this skill with it's five minute timer utterly useless. If i wanted to break encounters, I'd hit the yell button.Has anyone else noticed this, or am i missing something?

I can confirm this. Since a week or two using charm will break an encounter. Very annoying, since I think it was a fun song and very useful for instance to pull a mob from the healer. I did send in a bug report.

Aegolin, 39 Troubador

In a related note, you can't seem to make your charmed pet dance for your amusement anymore.

No more dancing pets! That makes me more sad than anything else that has hit us over the last few months :smileysad:

I can confirm that, on occasion, charming has broken encounters. Well, it happened to me once - and of all the times it could happen, it had to be on Lord Everliving in Nektropos Castle, which took ages to reach! Tonight, however, I was charming away happily in groups and solo, plus making the pets work for me. I'm level 38 and using adept 1; charm works 99% of the time, and ordering an attack about 90% maybe, lasting about 30 seconds I think.

I posted a few weeks back about the charm agro bug (in that they would just walk away once it broke, even though we were attacking their friends). That seems to be working properly for me now, except the dismissed pet no longer comes after me with a vengeance but back on to the MT.

I dunno, this is a funny spell that seems to confuse and baffle everyone, including the caster half the time. Why is it that even though I use a macro which states /gsay "Charming %T ..." everyone in the group then selects the charmed mob and looks at it like a slack jawed yokel :smileyvery-happy:

I suppose that's what's fun about it :smileyhappy:

Bring back dancing pets! :smileymad:

Message Edited by WorldsAway_Nybor on 03-23-2005 04:33 PM

Message Edited by WorldsAway_Nybor on 03-23-2005 04:35 PM

Charming breaks encounters -- yep! Happened twice last weekend against named gobbies in Catacombs.
