View Full Version : 1 new issue 1 old with my troub

<DIV>First the new issue. In a group i can no longer use any stealth attack. With my buffs up as soon as i close to melee range with a mob that the tank has engaged i am put in combat mode and pulled from stealth. Dev's please have a look at either giving us some sort of combat stealth or taking our buffs out of the lock in combat group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Which kind of leads to the old one. Those buffs generate so much hate, that if anyone pulls the mob off the tank and then successfully evades the troub gets aggro and if it happens that i used a power and had one queued when the other evaded it takes a good bit of taunting for the tank to pull aggro off. If we get an add no matter who got to close (without attacking) the troub gets aggro until the tank can taunt. I know the buffs are a big add to the group (not as much now) but shouldn't the hate on them have been reduced to match the reduced affectiveness as well?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Malakon</DIV> <DIV>lvl 49 troubador</DIV> <DIV>lvl 31 jeweler</DIV>

<DIV>I've noticed this as well, I havnt been able to pinpoint what was doing it though.</DIV>

<DIV>I have had the same issue with stealth.  The cleric was pulling mobs up to us.  I would stealth and wait for the cleric to run past so I could use Luckblade and then begin to attack to pull the mob off the cleric.  Every time the cleric ran by my charcter would come out of stealth.  I checked to make sure I was not on autoattack and not pressing anything, but every time a mob closed in I stood up and could not use Luckblade.  </DIV>

<DIV>I'd guess that our group buffs are doing it.  If you have a buff song playing, and it "lands" on a player in combat, you are registered as being in combat.  This breaks stealth.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sort of makes Stealth attacks worthless for groups if this is the case, since then we'd have to drop buffs to stealth (bad choice) and rebuff in combat (worse choice).  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>An easy way to test would be to group up and play no group buffs, try stealth attacks.  Then do the same with group buffs playing.   I'll try to test this in the next couple of days.</DIV>

It's not the buffs that are doing it. When stealthing before combat you will most of the time get brought out when combat starts in a group. It is tied to certain actions though, as I have been able to stay stealthed long enough to use Luckblade, but that's very rare. It's a pain as I have Adept 3 and am starting with I didn't use the rare for it <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV><FONT size=2>Out of interest, have you tried using the basic stealth ability you get as a scout? I have been using this stealth to hit luckblade instead my troubador stealth abilites, and it hasn't failed me yet. Bit of a pain to have it as a hotkey as this is the only time I use it, but at least I can fire off another reasonably powerful attack in combat.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>I can and have used the basic stealth ability in combat to pull off Luckblade.  It seems to me that a few weeks ago when we were hunting Bloodtalon I would sit with Walk Lightly on while the tank pulled Mighty Griffons to us.  Last weekend was the first time I had trouble remaining stealthed with Walk Lightly when a pull came to the group.</DIV>

<DIV>Have you checked your spell effects bar? It might be that the mob / mobs are casting debuffs, dots, group AoEs on your group. I recently have successfully used the level 33 stealth to perform a sneak attack. I did cast before tank engaged though, maybe that's the difference. I still can't use it in combat though, for the I need Sneak. Sometime in the future I'd like to see an in combat stealth, but that's a balance issue too. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is this repeatable? Have you tried it several times in a row on the same type of mob? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the hate, I find that if the tank pulls and then we cast a group buff, you can write us off, we're dead meat. Otherwise, I don't usually pull aggro from my regular group. Aggro usually goes SK > Assassin > Inquisitor ~ Troubadour > Necromancer. That's usually how we fall when wiping, of course there are exceptions to the rule. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Moorgard mentionned that group buffs are a way for tanks to pull aggro and they should use them after the pull to do so. From that I surmise that all others should avoid doing the same thing. I don't particualiry like the fact that because our buffs only last 10 minutes that when we refresh we often get aggro. One of my pet peeves. I'd really like to see our songs get a 12 hour timer like other group buffs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Or at least take the concentration slot use of Alin's Soothing Seranade away and give it a moderate reuse timer say 3 mins.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Caali on <span class=date_text>02-24-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:11 AM</span>

Until the last patch i was able to stealth and use Cassandra's each time a fight started. I stealthed using mala's as the tank was pulling and landed from hiding. Being pulled out each time is recent. Also i get locked in combat mode when my buffs land on a group member who is fighting when i approach them. Give it a try, go far enough from a group mate to drop your buffs off them. Have them start a fight and see if it locks you when you get close enough to put your buffs back on them.

<DIV>I had problems with this the other night and tested different buffs.  In all my tests it came down to Bria's (mana regen) being the cause.  With any of the other buffs it never pulled me out of steath but with Bria's playing it pulled me out every time it hit (once every six seconds).  I never play this song (2 tics every 6 seconds is pittiful) so I had a good idea it was the cause when I started getting pulled out of stealth.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Test it and let me know if anyone can verify my conclusion.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Miki - Vox Noctis (Highkeep)</DIV> <DIV>24 - Troubador</DIV> <DIV>50 - Provisioner</DIV>
