View Full Version : Sneak attack

<DIV>I used the search but didn't find anything recent, was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue.. Seems that since the patch i can't do my sneak attack(luckblade atm) sneak breaks as soon as the puller is hit.  First couple of times i thought i was being hit but after looking at my combat chat the mob is still otw to the group when it breaks.</DIV>

<DIV>I had this happen also, funny cause i could use it while solo or if grouped if i  did the 1st hit but if i tried to stay "stealthed" and wait for the mob to be engaged by someone else it would always break.</DIV><p>Message Edited by duc748 on <span class=date_text>02-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:03 AM</span>

<DIV>me too. another thing i noticed, before patch i had selected dirty tricks for trait, after i selected the sneak attack upgrade. before patch taffos and sneak attack were not on the same timer, and i could use them back to back. so i ugpaded the sneak attack trait cuz was too lazy to buy an upgrade plus more DoT on it. now sneak attack(and the upgrade) are on the same timer as taffos. this mightve been a fix in the patch msg, if so. i missed it.</DIV>

I have been having the same problem, and grouped with an assasin, I see him still in stealth but mine is always broken

<DIV>Same thing here. I wasn't able to land a single sneak attack tonight. It always broke as soon as the tank was hit. Very frustrating. I did not have this problem pre-patch. Playing a level 25 Troubador.</DIV>

<DIV>Happens here too, sucks cuz I have luckblade master 1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Make sure everyone /bug its in game.</DIV>

Same issues here, not sure if it's bug or intended. Either way, it stinks.

What it looks like is happening.. is we are getting put into combat (due to songs already up being on puller?) as soon as they pull or get in range of songs. And with the bug that makes it so we cannot resneak while we are in combat we are unable to sneak to use the sneak attacks. So this is more a combination of two bugs. 1) Not being able to resneak mid fight.. the bug one. and 2) Getting put into combat stance before we actually do anything in a fight.I think this started happening the same patch as the fix for druids out of combat regen healing bug. Basically made it so druids got put in combat for healing anyone already engaged to prevent them from remaining out of locked combat. So this seems liek it's what is affecting us too.Ridian McNight40 TroubadorNajena

We can do barely any damage as it is compared to others, alot less with out being able to do a sneak attack, hmmStill works solo of course, now its 2 days I cant sneak attack in a group

I do think it's buff specific. Last night I had a 2nd troubador in group, a lil higher, so I couldnt run my normal buffs. I did a few extra stats and some I don't use. Was able to sneak attack no problem. Normally I run Bria's Exalting Ballad, Niv's Song of Harmony, Raxxy's Vivacious Descant, and Invigorating Opus...The other troubador was running those and couldn't sneak attack, but I could. Should be easy enough to test out and see which buff line is hosing us.

<DIV>Well just keep posting your experiences and /bug it in game.  I'm sure Moorgard's team will notice it soon enough and we'll get a fix in, because I highly doubt its an intentional design.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Gage-Mikel on <span class=date_text>02-20-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:21 AM</span>

In my experience it seems to depend on the tank/puller being hit..me and another troub did a few test because they weren't having any issues and we couldn't duplicate on gray mobs.

<DIV>I figured out a way to get my luckblade off...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I throws off my rhythm somewhat, but after the tank pulls to you and you enter combat mode (which would normally break stealth) I found that you arent actually fighting, but rather just in combat mode...  You can't walk lightly, but you can in fact sneak, allowing you then to get off your stealth attack...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this helps, and the sneak attack/caskin's - Taffo's problem is addressed in a thread on the abilities forum I added Troubadors to the list.  Dirges are having the same problem as well as many other classes it appears...</DIV>

<DIV>I can't reproduce this consistently. If I cast the sneak before an encounter usually it holds until I use the sneak attack. I can't use Walk Lightly or higher sneaks mid combat but I can use original sneak. Although it is debatable whether a 4s cast time for a 300ish damage (and random at that) attack is worth it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other times it'll just pop off. Sometimes this is because of a debuff or AoE ability the mob has cast on us. I haven't noticed if it happens otherwise. Concievably sneak could pop off even if you resist an AoE, I'm not sure how they made it work.</DIV>

<DIV>One thing I have noticed is that if you have any type of regen on while a combat is going on, once it ticks (about every 6 sec) it counts as an action and removes Sneak while in combat.  Even if not in combat, it will remove sneak and send you into combat if someone has pulled something.  I often have a power regen going if there are a lot of casters in the group and I try to sneak for the initial hit.  If the mob is being pulled far away, my sneak will break before the mob gets to us because of the power regen is on the tank.  Just something I have noticed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>~~~Bink the Halfling, Troubador~~~</DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Crombie on <span class=date_text>03-02-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:32 AM</span>

<DIV>This is important to fix... I used to not use sneak attack because the cast time on sneak was terrible and the only one that worked was the "pre-bard quest" lowbie sneak.... and I didn't mind so much....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://www.thedauntless.org/Troubadour/Spell%20Screenshots/Startling%20Shriek%20-%20Adept%201.JPG"></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ummm.... well... My DPS being nerfed 22% in addition to the piddly amount of actual sneak damage done... IS A BIG DEAL.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We need sneak attack working correctly again because troub DPS is very very low ever since the STR/AGI nerf (mages 3 lvls lower than me using fighter pets are showing more PET DPS than I can show ACTUAL DPS)... without this 22% boost it's even worse... if I could get this 22% DPS back... and the cast time on sneak was reduced to make it easier to use in combat I would be "viable" as a scout archetype... right now I don't know what I am... I'm not a healer, I'm not a tank, I'm not Situational DPS, and I'm not magic DPS... I am a bard... my haste is worse than enchanters, my power regen is worse than enchanters, my crowd control is worse than enchanters and after the big caster patch... my DPS can sometimes show up worse than the enchanters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I thought the whole concept of EQ2 revolved around an Archetype Tree concept... yet... from where I stand I'm like in a valley looking up at some tree... but not in the tree itself.... that needs fixed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't want to be the biggest kid on the block... but that stat nerf they did nerfed us hardcore and the caster buff up made the ratio unbearable.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also I am curious... when an enchanter gets a new haste upgrade... does thier haste % go up or is it useless for them to upgrade also?</DIV>

<DIV>I just need to clarify for my own benefit.  I understand what everyone is saying but the skills we are talking about are getting confused I think...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Combat-wise, we are dealing with two independant issues that need to be addressed...  A flanking attack issue, and a stealthed attack issue.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From what I can gather the flanking attack issue revolves around lower level Troub's like myself and primarily concerns (from what I can gather) situations like Sneak Attack and/or it's training upgrade Caskin's Ringing Swipe  now being on the same reuse timer as Taffo's Brilliant Blade, when they weren't previously...  This was addressed in a sticky thread on the abilities forum but was unstickied in the last couple of days, and thus forgotten about I fear...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The stealthed attack issue is cut and dry, we were able to hide and launch a stealthed attack on a mob while in a group with no problem and now it is a struggle at best.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think perhaps my confusion came when some of y'all we talking about Sneak Attack as a stealth issue when really it is a flanking issue, perhaps you meant ambush the lowest level stealth attack...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As it appeared they actually read the top 10 issues, might we somehow incorporate these as an 11th issued call combat issues?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Since the debuff icons thing isn't Troubadour specific, and it's well covered in other sections of the baords, I'm going to take it out and put sneak attack stuff in. That seems to be of more concern to everyone.</DIV>
