View Full Version : Why is our class weapon NOT duel wield?

11-15-2004, 11:42 PM
<DIV>JUst finished the lvl 19 Troubador class quest and got the Sword of Song and its one-handed.</DIV> <DIV>The Dirge weapon is duel wield.</DIV> <DIV>Are we suppose to be a knight class and wield one sword and one shield?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Why give us duel wield and then our class quest gives us a one-hand only sword that lowers our dps?</DIV> <DIV>Thats a crappy item in its current state and I won't use it unless it moves to duel wield status like the dirge weapon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On the offhand that I am mistaken and there is some item to fit into a secondary slot while using a one-hand in primary that gives as much dps as a duel wield, please let me know.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks.</DIV>

Has this been fixed yet? Any word from the dev's? :smileysad:

11-16-2004, 02:35 AM
<DIV>Yeah I finished my lvl 20 quest and got Troubador this Sunday.. yay!  As for my sword, well I sold it to a tank who wanted a better 1 hander :smileytongue:  Oh well, he is happy with it.  I would /bug it but, to be honest, I don't know that it would change <shrug>  I'm sure somewhere out there someone likes the sword.</DIV>

11-16-2004, 07:05 AM
<DIV>I was surprised to find out it was not DW, especially since someone else said the freeport troubado(u)r quest yields a DW.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Didn't petition it, but wondering if I should...</DIV>

11-16-2004, 07:45 AM
<DIV>Agreed. It should be dual wield.. and have a song like name. (Harmonious Spear etc.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV> <HR> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" size=4>- <FONT color=#336699>Valcutio</FONT> / <FONT color=#006666>Bladezilla</FONT> - King of Najena, Voted <EM>Sexiest</EM> Troubador Ever, Legend and Hero of the people.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> <HR> </DIV></DIV>

<DIV>I'm pretty *miffed* about this myself.... I dual wield whips right now... 3-9 dmg 1.2 delay... I go from that to a sword+shield... massive change to my playing style.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gave the sword to a tank huh?  Hmm... my brother is a tank and I thought this was no drop... perhaps I'll loan it to him I didn't look to see if it was attuneable.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Alot of us bards have been using whips... it's "stylish" I think the reward should have been a new dual wield whip. :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'd be happy with any dual wield though... I like fast attacks... not big attacks and AC... what am I to do with a shield?  I mean seriously... I have lower AC than a priest... why on earth would I be tanking enough to use a shield?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A class quest reward should be tailor made to the class for which the quest was done... a non-tank that actually swings a weapon should get a dual wield capable weapon or a 2-handed weapon... bards don't use 2-handers so that makes the answer OBVIOUS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The only thing worse than a 1 hander would have been if they would have made it like +20 wisdom.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I sold my shield at lvl 12.... with no intention of replacing it.... now I have to repurchase one. in 3/4 of a lvl and I am dreading it... I have the cash... but to pay cash to lower my DPS... it just ain't right... I'll probably buy 2 new dual wield weaps and donate this to salvation army.</DIV>

I will /feedback this every time I log in. If not change the one they already give, then give us a choice of the one handed sword OR a dual wield whip/dagger/rapier whatever. I also like the feel of a fast attack over a big swing and I dislike shields.YerkichTroubadorPermafrost

Yeah i have to agree here as well <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> A one-handed weapon +shield just aint doing it. We are just not meant to tank, allthough I have been doing alot of that because of the lackof tanks around level 20.Will feedback on this, and hope for Troubadours-to-be to geta dualwield sword instead. Now back to singing as soon as theservers come back up <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Hugs!Bregador TreewhisperProud Troubadour of Continental DriftRunnyeye server

<DIV>So what is the damage and delay on this weapon. I am planning on going Troubadore. I would rather have dualwield also but need to compare the numbers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Darkmane 17th Bard of Permafrost</DIV>

General Changes...- Several items were fixed to use the correct wield style or equipment slots....No change as of the 11/17 patch to the Qeynos Troubadour sword.. It's still flagged as one-hander. =/*banks it again*<p>Message Edited by Ruri Hoshino on <span class=date_text>11-17-2004</span> <span class=time_text>09:05 AM</span>

<DIV>Reminds me of EQOA (yess I played ghetto EQ after EQOL and before FFXI /blush) where they kept giving palys 2 handers, including epic. I think most of us mailed Alex daily to get that changed... never did as far as I know. Well least they have always been more on top of EQOL ^^</DIV>

11-18-2004, 12:34 AM
**bleep**ers! >< I loaded mine onto my trader and am selling my class weapon. Its of no one to me and makes no sense to use so I am gonna see if I can get some silver for it.

11-20-2004, 01:44 AM
<DIV>Just finished the Troubadour Quest on the Freeport side and the weapon was dual wield.  I guess that only affects the Qeynos folks then.</DIV>

11-20-2004, 03:36 AM
<DIV>I think the new reward is duel weild, but the existing sword wasn't changed.  The Defender I sold my sword too still has it and it's still a 1 hand slasher.  So, rejoice for new Troubadors, our pain has led to your exultation!  (err, sompin like that anyway)  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

Wow.. If that's true, that's kind of.. well.. crappy. =/Can anyone confirm this?

11-20-2004, 05:39 AM
Yes it is true. Confirmed, my sword is still flagged One-Handed.

<DIV>Hello, I believe I'm the one that informed RagnarokDK that the FP Troubadour quest wep is a dual wield dagger.  One thing you guys have to realize that it's always been a dual wield dagger, even in beta so it hasn't been changed recently.  Also you have to consider that the Qeynos sword has much higher dmg than the FP dagger (5-15dmg if i recall correctly).   So if the devs do decide to make the Qeynos sword dual wieldable then they need to reduce the dmg to be on the same level as the FP dagger, or they could just change it to a dual wieldable dagger instead of a sword.</DIV><p>Message Edited by SOEPlayer on <span class=date_text>11-19-2004</span> <span class=time_text>10:52 PM</span>

11-21-2004, 10:43 AM
I just got mine, and it's still a 1 hander.

11-21-2004, 04:32 PM
<DIV>Did any of you actually try it? I am not really hurt by the damage output and the shield is a nice addition. I have no hard numbers, but I can still pull aggro using it, and I can tank in a pinch I am likeing the one handed. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We are a support class and some of our group songs cause alot of aggro, I am certain the healer in your group, will appreciate the fact that you do take less damage on the times you draw aggro. Anyways I am happy with it and wish you all Luck.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Darkmane 20th Troubador of Permafrost</DIV>

some numbers..bard 1h sword does roughly 17.5 dpsdual weield whip/dagger/spears do roughly 10dps each(3-9 for 1.2 delay or 5-12 for 1.7 delay)You can get these weapons at level 15.Steel weapons do roughly 14 dps, and are obtainable around lvl 20/21.Dual wielding two 10dps weapons = 20dps.Dual wielding two 14dps weapon = 28dps.wielding our "uber" class weapon = 17.5dps.We are scouts. We are a damage/utility class. Unless our class weapon has some other kind of buff, like making our songs 30% stronger or something, I see it as pretty useless. It doesn't even look that cool.

11-22-2004, 05:18 AM
<DIV>Can we say "Support" class ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>you wanted damage, should have gone assassin</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>however I would have liked to see some weapons be "1-handed/2-handed" weapons kinda like how diablo 2 was setup if you all recall correctly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>besides steel stiletto's for the win peeps. I like my dual wield troubador weapon (from freeport) but only slightly better than my badlands imho.</DIV>

11-22-2004, 10:28 PM
<DIV>I agree that it should be DW if everyone elses is.  I mean really if ur going to give us a 1hander at least give us a quest to get a decent shield along with it, that would be somewhat fair.</DIV>

11-23-2004, 02:25 AM
<DIV>It's a bug. If we give enough feedback it should be noticed and corrected.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Freeport Dirge weapon is dual-wield.</DIV> <DIV>Freeport Troubador weapon is dual-wield.</DIV> <DIV>Qeynos Dirge weapon is dual-wield.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Qeynos Troubador weapon is one-handed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It has to be an unnoticed bug.</DIV>

11-23-2004, 02:54 AM
It's not an unoticed bug. I petitioned that I wanted the one I have replaced with the dual wield version that Freeport bards are getting. I got a response that said at this time they can not do things like item replacement and item transfers. It's a bunch of BS, I played EQ1 long enough to know that a GM can do pretty much anythign they want, if they want. They just usually choose to say no.I am just glad I have 2 weapons better then the quest sword equipped already so I just /petitioned on principal and got fed a spoonful of BS.

11-23-2004, 05:39 AM
Bards get a mismatched weaponBards get a pathetic dance song at 20 for our big deal ability.Just accept that we get shafted cause noone at SOE has EVER understood what bards are or do.

11-24-2004, 01:24 AM
<DIV>Keep bugging it, it will get fixed eventually.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And I want to go troubado(r) with my bard in Qeynos... Bleh.</DIV>

11-25-2004, 12:04 AM
Maybe they changed this. I finished mine a few days ago, and got a dual-wield weapon. Was also the first person to get it on Antonia Bayle, so perhaps it is new.

11-25-2004, 12:42 AM
<DIV>Hmm. I got mine just yesterday and it is infact one-handed and taking up a bank slot.</DIV>

11-28-2004, 01:31 PM
<DIV>This blows... Why is our weapon a show piece?</DIV>

<DIV>I thunk they should make this post a sticky.</DIV>

11-29-2004, 10:10 PM
Maybe they are thinking that instruments (when they get them working) will go in the offhand slot in place of a shield and be usable only with one-handers?That would offer another viable option to having to dual-weild.

11-29-2004, 10:39 PM

<DIV>I don't think any red names read these subclass forums. It would be nice to find out if this is an oversight, or something intentional. Qeynos Troubadors being the only Bard subclass with a one-handed class quest weapon.</DIV>

12-01-2004, 12:42 AM
<DIV>This game started out so fun with the cool graphics and quests but I am starting to really regret choosing to go bard.  There are so many frustrations with the class it seems to be as forgotten by the devs as the EQ1 class was and yet that is the only priciple similarity between the two.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How on earth could our class weapon not be duel wield?  That is the silliest thing I have seen so far.  That and no run speed song for us!  Will charm ever be fixed?  It is of such limited use now with its long recharge time and not being able to direct the charmed mob to do anything as to be laughable.  Add to that it can't be used on ^^ mobs, as far as I can tell, and it is even worse.  Right now I can charm one mob for half a fight but only every other fight.  Why the limitations on command and re-use?  Its not like charm kiting would be a viable option in this game given the speed restrictions at this level.</DIV>

<DIV>No dual-wield here, too. **ZOMG**. Qeynos, Valor. Pleeeeeeeeease change it!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

12-03-2004, 01:18 AM
<DIV>OK, so as much of a pain and as INCREDIBLY stupid as this may be, *COULD* I defect, and goto Freeport and finish my quest to get the Troub dual wield weapon?</DIV>

12-03-2004, 05:49 AM
<DIV>Maybe they are thinking that instruments (when they get them working) will go in the offhand slot in place of a shield and be usable only with one-handers?<BR><BR>That would offer another viable option to having to dual-weild. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Instruments do indeed go in the shield slot. they just dont do anything yet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So when / if instruments get implemented one handed weapons will become de rigeur for bards .... maybe.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>{The instrument / shield slot info comes from my crafting , yes I can make a usless instrument,</DIV> <DIV> yours for the low low price of 20 silver.}</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Vrok</DIV>

12-03-2004, 11:17 AM
<DIV>This doesn't sound right.  I would think they had one person responsible for balancing quests through the classes.  You can tell they do that pretty well if you compare like level quests nad rewards.  This one is a HUGE problem though.</DIV>

12-04-2004, 04:53 PM
<DIV>I did mine a few days ago, received the one hander, yep.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Me being a dual weilding piercer.. I figured by the time I got my 1hs up to par I'd be able to buy a much better weapon..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I took the easy route and sold it in my shop for 40 silver.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone else sell it, if you did for what price? I'm thinking I majorly underpriced mine..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(I could see the sword being worth something to keep if it proc'd or something, but meh, more money for me)</DIV>

12-05-2004, 10:53 AM
I'm actually using mine with a decent round shield when I solo (dual wield when grouped usually). I find that with block, dodging and parry I get hit a lot less and as most of my damage in soloing comes from skills and songs anyway I am actually coming to prefer this set up over dual wield.

12-05-2004, 08:23 PM
<DIV>I decided to actually use mine, but I've switched to Berik + Mithril Round Shield. I can't say I'm unhappy with the results so far.</DIV>

12-06-2004, 03:41 AM
<DIV>I really dont know what i want to use. I sold my sword already.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm using two carbonite stilletto's right now, should I try going to 1hs and shield? Will there be more bard quest weapons other than slashing? Should I just go 1hs? I dont want to get jipped, but well, I guess it happens to everyone. </DIV>
