Hasn't happened with any other class I've played so it mystifies me. When my 17 brigand starts a new level his avoidance is at 21.3% in the red. As he piles up experience and at 100% his avoidance goes to 31.7 in the red. As soon as I level it goes back down to around 21.3%. Can't make heads or tails out of this so please someone help.

Your O stance lowers your avoidance. Try turning it off/turning on Def stance and see what happens.

I figured it out.....the Rash Advance buff lowers your avoidance to hell so I've stopped using it. But how does a Brig change stance? You're the second person to tell me that and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Ok, you want to use the offensive stance unless you are tanking, then you want defensive. The icon for defensive stance kinda looks like a spiky blue baked potato imo.

Our avoidance is our stuns keep them stunned or dazzed and you don't get hit. Also the offensive stance has a 30% proc to interupt iirc. That's another 30% brigand avoidance. I tank all the time unfortunately I don't like it but my group doesn't have a tank so ... and I almost never use my defensive.
stance is nothing more than a buff..there are 2 that we get but you can only have 1 up at a time, one buffs def and loweres offense, the other buffs offense and lowers defense. keep offense stance (buff) up unless you are solo'ing (mobs that are your level) or tanking in a group.

The different styles of play can dictate your stance.

In PVE play, I am always in O stance, even solo. The more attacks that land, the faster the mob dies. Avoidance doesn't mean much if my stuns miss at all. The fight will last longer because I can't use rear positional attacks. I rarely use D stance, typically only in group setup with no tanks and mobs conning yellow or higher to me.

In PVP play, I travel with D stance on in case of a surprise attack. If there are multiple players attacking and I don't want to stand and fight, the extra avoidance is useful in escaping. If I am dictating when/where the combat happens or I'm traveling with companions, I switch to O stance so everything lands.

One more opinion from a 70 Brig that does 50/50 raiding and soloing on quests.

I have not used a defensive stance in so long I could not even give you the name of one. The same goes for our taunt, which I happen to know is Vaunt at high levels because the market is flooded with Master 1 of that spell.

That said there are great reasons to use defensive stance and the taunt, as well as the stamina line if you are playing your Brigand as a mini tank. I think this represents a small percentage of the already small brigand population, but they have made it a viable tactic for those who chose to tank.

I play a lvl 64 Brig On Venekor (PvP) With the shortage of "Tanking" classes in PvP I fill this roll allot. Haveing taken the Sta Ach line and better thna average I have no problem tanking tougher mobs With Def on I can get over 3k Mit and 46% avoid. (working from a failing Memory here) This is my 1st Brig past 40 so I don't know how this compairs to The top Brigs but I make a better than average tank IMO. I won't be tanking any raid mobs but for the everyday exp grind I do quite well.

the very first offensive and defensive stances that brigands get.once you're in offensive stance, you must toggle the buff off before you can go into defensive stance and vice versa.
