<DIV>I'm kinda unsure about Swash after looking at the AA trees for a bit. This class seems to be the closest thing I'll get to a rogue/thief. My only other options is the Hunter/Tanker class. What concerns me the most is endgame for Swash. I don't want to invest a ton of time into a class that really isn't going to be for me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I noticed a lot of the skills involve a shield or 1 hander.       ... The? I understand the lore and stuff behind a swash, but where is the DW DPS Tree ?<BR></DIV> <DIV>I'm just unsure of what to make of Swash's at endgame. I'm mainly looking for high dps/dot & thief-like playstyle.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, My avoidance was 0.0% from like Lv1->15, and now it just started going up. I'm at like 4.3% now. What gives with such low avoid? My gear is decent for my level considering a guildy crafted me a bunch of pristine stuff for my level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I picked Swash because it felt like the only melee dps between the tank and the ranger. Yet I seem to find the AA trees are lacking,.. or maybe it's just me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ex-74 Thief - FFxi<BR>Ex-60 Rogue - WoW</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any info or guidance would be appreciated,</DIV> <DIV>Thanks</DIV>

I see you had a Rogue in WoW, and now it looks like you search for something similiar. Swashbuckler is not your way to go, if you want that that. Brigant (more stuns / higher dmg blows) or Assassin (extreme high dmg/very nice AAs for poisons) would have been better choices in my opinion. If you want an Dual-Wield AA-Build for Swashbucklers you should go str / agi or str /int, stamina and wis are build around using a one handed weapon.Your avoidance is based on your base avoidance (through agility and defense) your parry and block values. You need to raise your defense and parry as you level through beeing hit. If you always hang around with a group these both values will be very low and not do any good against an even con enemy, so from time to time go out on your own and "practice" your defensive skills.

The rogue AA tree is one of the best in the game...for sure you would love a Brig..which is near top DPS or assassin but brigs have more debuffs making them more useful on raids

<div></div>Both classes debuff in raids...Brigands debuffs defense Swashbuckler debuffs offenseEach have their role.As to the original question, I must say I haven't enjoyed my Swashy more then I do now. SoE is finally starting to breath character and substance into the Swashy line. IMO, moreso then other scouts. As for dps in raid, I am consistantly top 3 in dps every encounter but ymmv.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Earl_Of_Bronze on <span class=date_text>08-03-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:21 AM</span>

<div></div>A swashbuckler is not much like a normal thief/rogue character from other games.  Everything we have is based on being flamboyant, risky, flashy, etc.  Less emphasis on being sneaky and rogueish.  Although we are a rogue, were more based on a flamboyant swordsman type (think Indiana Jones or Indigo Montoya) than we are a crafty thief or assassin. As for endgame, we versatile and able to tank in non raid (and even some raid) settings and do well.  We are durable, self sufficient, do excellent DPS which is focused on area attacks and quick refreshing non positional attacks.  We also have desireable debuffs which deal with offensive skills of mobs we are fighting.  Most endgame guilds will want at least 1 swashbuckler.  Assassins currently are top DPS for scouts, much more focused on stealth and big bangs.  Brigands are our evil counterpart, and they focus more on debuffing / single target / subversion than us with similar, somewhat lower DPS and better debuffs (defensive debuffs which allow the entire raid to deal more damage).<div></div><p>Message Edited by Keldoth on <span class=date_text>08-03-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:16 PM</span>

Brigand or Assassin in EQ2 is most like a Dagger/Assassination Rogue from WoWSwashbuckler is more like a Sword/Combat Rogue from WoWAA Trees in EQ2 are not similar to the trees in WoW, so don't try and read them as such (imho WoW did them better). The Rogue AA trees in EQ2 are actually pretty good. Strength and Agility trees are both good for DW.In WoW your trees have a profound and dramatic imact on the way in which you mash your buttons, and what you do in combat. In EQ2 they can have a significant impact, but the Stamina (shield) line is the only one that comes close to governing your playstyle in the same way.<div></div>
