I have played on several different servers, looking for a home with people that i can fit in with, so i finally found one, and i decided to roll a templar, and being a healer was a new experience for me and i like it alot, being my first healer i also discovered that you cant do it full time, a person needs to take a break from the death cycle hehe. So Slightly Frustrated with my last group i decided to go harvesting, i got lucky with some bronze , so i threw togather a bronze chainmail set, didnt really feel like sellin the stuff so i put in shared bank slot and went to create character. I was lookin over the scout classes and i was like hmm which one of these needs to be tried out. I rolled a swashy named Swype, Needless to say i played him right to 20 only stopping to make different tier chain armor and weapons for him, I have never had so much fun playing this game. 2 days straight of playing and i couldnt bring myself to stop ive never had these play habits before.

Swashbuckler is an incredible class and i am kicking myself in the butt for not trying one sooner. Is there anything special i might be missing, class abilities, or anything i should be aware of that can add to my playing enjoyment, ive already figured out the stun jump behind the creature method for when not grouped.

Please any additional advice would rock.

Welcome.

Make sure you learn how to get off your positional attacks in the middle of a fight.

Figure out a hotkey layout that makes sense in what you want to do.

For example I have sneak as my first key, my main 4 positional attacks(backstabs) next, primary CA's then mez and disable autoattack as the last 2 keys. With that setup I can get off 3 of the 4 positional attacks at any point in a fight as long as I have mez up.

Don't let anyone tell you that it's hard to solo with a swash....

Get [Ruthless Cunning (Adept III)] - aITEM -1057834725 2920570119:Ruthless Cunning (Adept III)/a

Increases DPS by 41% for 1 minute duration, stacks with your other DPS / Haste buff and helps you do nice damage. The skill is from Bloodline Cronicles and I know since LU24 jewlers were having an issue making it... Im not quite sure if its fixed or not, I found one and bought it right away for 2 plat on my server. Its a level 35 Spell that you dont auto-learn as you level becuase its from the Adventure pack.

Once you get your AA's up I suggest going down the Wis line and get yourself a nice 1 hander. Im only 58 and I still use my level 40 fabled mainly for the 12% proc and it has a decent rating then some of the crafted stuff... I'll upgrade it at 60.

Defrauders Dirk - aITEM -276832255 3180686833: Defrauders Dirk/a

Message Edited by LiquidFusion17 on 07-17-2006 06:25 PM

Make sure you get Walk the Plank (AA AGI line first skill after the stat bonus). No more need to jump over the mob every time, just turn it around to face away from you.

At 53 I hve 2 full hotbars with CA's that I use and another 2 with support skills, this class is nothing but simple, but can do some interesting things.

Just wanted to jump in and say my first character is a swashbuckler as well. I can't get enough either...love making mobs fall down, fall to their knees repeatedly. My character is only level 28 but the excitement hasn't died down at all for me..just as exciting as the first day I started playing. Thanks for the advice about the walk the plank ability wasn't sure what to start with after pickpocket.

Even with our nerfed stun times I can cheapshot and still get in 2 rear/flank attacks after jumping over.

When i see cheap shot coming up, i aim myself 20-30 degrees off to the right, and just run mostly behind the mob. Even after the drop to 4 sec stun this give me plenty of time to get off 2 positional attacks before the mob turns. Giants are even easier as you can just run between their legs

Message Edited by ScrubMike on 07-19-2006 11:57 PM

I just wouldnt feel like a proper Swashbuckler if I didnt jump around as much as possible. Though on the bigger targets I dive between their legs. Being a ratongan I can get away with that on more than just Giants.
