<DIV>What the heck happened to these guys? Did they just die off the face of Norrath in the Cataclysms? I mean they ranged from Lake Rathetear through the Karanas and up nearly to Everfrost and well over in Faydwer. Just wondering what happened to this "race" </DIV>

<DIV>Seems like they and the bears got funky and ended up in Nek as Owlbears. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I wasn't taking it seriously.  I don't have the answer either, and have wondered the same question.  Just found the Owlbears to be kind of a silly mob.</DIV>

<DIV>It might be possable they had to relocate to a place we havent discovered yet, when the catalysms hit. Or maybe those in the areas we can go to were all killed off for some reason? They might have been targets of the Rallosian army, or one reason or another, and then the rending and shattering just finished them off. I dont really know for sure. Heck, maybe the devs even just forgot about them..</DIV>

<DIV>Owlbears are not an EverQuest creation though, they have been in MANY fantasy games/novels (D&D and such) and the myth behind them probably dates back a couple thousand years or more. But it just feels like the devs did forget the aviaks. Unless they are planned as a new race later on.</DIV>

Well, a much simpler answer: after 500 years, shards of the moon crashing into the planet, the planet beign wracked by massive earthquakes and cataclysms -- sh*t happens? Lol, other than that, they may be a race to be released in a year or so, or found on a new continent. Also, I'm rather certain the owlbears are in Nektulous because of parts of Luclin crashing into Norrath, and the owlbears you see in Nektulous are descendants of the survivors of the 'crash'.

<DIV>Or owlbears have been there all along and were brought TOO Luclin by the Combine Empire</DIV>

<DIV>There weren't any owlbears in Nek Forest in EQ 1.  Unless you mean they took every last one of them to Luclin (unlikely).  I think that some one brought some owlbears down from Luclin before it exploded (more likely).  As far as the Aviaks, maybe the shattering and the rendering changed the climate of Norrath slightly making the Aviaks extinct.</DIV>

<DIV>In MOST fantasy owlbears arent from any "moon" so I assume they were there all along. There are many things that show up in EQ now that arent in EQ1 (cows, owlbears, pigs, etc.)</DIV>

<DIV>You are trying way to hard to make the game make sense.</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>Maybe the owlbears layed their eggs in a big cave of the Paludal Caverns and when the moon exploded that chunk landed on Norrath and the heat from the descent hatched all the eggs! Then all the owlbear cubs populated the planet!!!</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Maybe they all flew south for the cataclysm...  I mean they can fly so would make it quite easy to relocate to a new home (maybe out to Tim Deep with all the others our there).</DIV>

<DIV>maybe they evolved into hawks and what not we see in the game now. In EQ1 there were no birds, at all, in the air.  or at least more than about 3 feet from the ground.</DIV>
