<DIV>Looking at your sig, it would seem you mean wood elves, but here they all are just incase..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>These were taken from the eq rpg book. Seem to be fairly reliable, though some just use them as a sort of guideline. The first number is the average age of death, second number is the racial maxium age.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <P>Half Elf <BR>110-170</P></DIV> <DIV> <P>Wood Elf <BR>300-700<BR><BR>High Elf <BR>350-750<BR><BR>Dark Elf <BR>375-775 </P></DIV>

<DIV>Kizdean Gix is still around. I would put his age, at least, around 600, though his appearance hasn't changed much.</DIV>

Well, I don't know the actual amount of time, but Dark Elves can live long enough to have survived from the flight of the combine Empire (many, many years before EQ: OA) to EQ1, since there was a Dark Elf in Katta Castlum who would tell you he was one of the original refugees. He's at about the end of his lifespan, and will tel l you that as well, but he's there.

<DIV>Hey, he's 600 years young. He's still got a few more birthday cakes to eat. :smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ive always wondered about the combine, would it it possable they had (or were exposed to) magics that would extend life? And does the Foci have those abilites too, or is she a lich as well, or what? I wanna know whats up with her, she's definietly been kicking around for a good long time now..</DIV>

Well, if it means anything, the EQOA Racial Master Class for Light Elves is "Immortal". Maybe this implies it's possible for Elves to become Immortal in some way, comparitvely to how Necromancers can become Liches?

<DIV> <DIV>Keep in mind that lifespans are an average age computation.  If a type of elf has a lifespan of 750 years, it means that on average an elf of that type will have died by the time 750 years have passed.  Some will die sooner, others later.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Though I haven't seen any official information, it is generally accepted in lore that elves are in fact "immortal" - not that they cannot die, but that they do not die unless they are killed.  Their attunement with nature and the natural world allows them to live without the degeneratory effects so many of the other races experience.  Asking why an elf doesn't die of natural causes is like asking why a mountain or a river does not die... they are just that much a part of the existance of things that, although they may change somewhat with time, they simply do not get old and die (in the way we of Earth concieve of these things).  <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, if you were to poison or stab an elf, they would certainly die.  The fact that elves engage themselves in so many wars may be partly to blame for the existance of a lifespan calculation.  The more likely to engage in fighting a particular subset of the elven race is, the shorter their lifespan will be.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Half elves are bound by their human blood to be mortal, though their elven blood keeps them alive far longer than any normal human could expect to live.  Wood elves are constantly in the thick of things, what with their on-going front line wars with the Orcs and their penchant to hunt.  High elves, being "noble", are more likely to engage in wars that support their purposes.  Dark elves, being "wily" by nature, are more likely to have some lesser race fight their battles for them.  I think these are the reasons behind the lifespan ranges posted earlier.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course, I could be completely wrong.......</DIV></DIV></DIV>

<DIV>The following is the age chart from the EQRPG.  Frogloks, Ratonga and Kerra are absent from the list.  Vah Shir are included since they are a type of Kerra, but it is unclear as to their lifespan compared to, say, Kejekians.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Entries are as follows:</DIV> <DIV>Race Adult MiddleAge Old Venerable MaxAge</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Barbarian 15 35 50 70 +3d12</DIV> <DIV>Dark Elf 110 200 290 375 +4d%</DIV> <DIV>Dwarf 40 125 180 250 450 +2d%</DIV> <DIV>Erudite 20 45 70 90 +4d12</DIV> <DIV>Gnome 40 100 150 200 +3d%</DIV> <DIV>Half Elf 20 55 90 110 +3d20</DIV> <DIV>Halfling 20 50 75 100 +5d20</DIV> <DIV>High Elf 120 175 190 350 +4d%</DIV> <DIV>Human 18 40 60 75 +2d20</DIV> <DIV>Iksar 20 50 75 100 +3d20</DIV> <DIV>Ogre 15 30 45 60 +2d10</DIV> <DIV>Troll 18 35 50 65 +2d12</DIV> <DIV>Vah Shir 18 50 75 100 +2d20</DIV> <DIV>Wood Elf 100 150 225 300 +4d%</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, for average lifespan, figure out the minimum and maximum values of the MaxAge.  For example, dark elf old age is 375.  To determine maxmimum age, you roll percentage dice 4 times and add the results.  The possible results can be anywhere from 4 to 400.  So, average those, and the average MaxAge value would be (400-4)/2 = 198.  Add that value to the Old age value, and the average dark elf lifespan is 573.  Some may die at 379, and some may die at 775.  So, as you move up the ages, more and more people die as they approach 573, then they taper off to 775.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This chart takes into account only natural causes of death, i.e. dying of old age.  People can still die of more violent means before their max age.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Jaranna on <span class=date_text>01-16-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:41 PM</span>
