Just curious, I understand that Luclin imploded but why did the beastlord disappear? After all there are there are 4 of the five races that have survived the war that ALL could be the bealstord class. According to the story line the Vah Shir race merged with the Kerra to form the new, more durable Kerra that we know in EQ II. This still doesnt answer my question of why the profession of beastlord did not survive with the other 4 remaining races. Also I do understand that EQ II is 500 years after the first one. Any answers would help.Thanks,65 Beastlord of Terris-Thule

<DIV>The Beastlords were wiped off the face of Norrath by Nerfandorkill, the God of Balance.  Beastlords were overpowered creatures whose strength alone threatened the existence of the pantheon so this god took it upon himself to destroy them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>[Joke with lots of truth in it]</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That and Beastlords don't fit at all into EQ2's archetypal system.</DIV>

Well the power of the beastlords vanished over the 500 years, so the beastlords joined the ranges of the monks and bruisers and powered up there own fighting dmg....

<DIV>Beastlords vanished because SOE likes to punish people who solo. </DIV>

<DIV>They likely disappeared because they couldn't fit them into the whole class tree.  All 4 of the main classes have 3 archtypes and 2 more branch off of them.  They decided to go with the summoner (mage EQ style) and necro, though they could have easily added the BLs instead of the mage.  In the future, they might re-introduce this class, keep in mind that it wasn't initially introduced into EQ until luclin (2 years post EQ going live).</DIV>

I am certain we will see some form of them again. Some unlikely lore:As the worlds changed, so did the relationship between the thinking species and those who's minds were in tune with the cycles of nature. The rift that began to develop grew yearly, until the last Beastmasters finally found that none could be called who once leapt at their command. It has been speculated that someday this power will arise again, should only those who seek to dominate the beasts learn instead to walk in partnership with them.RbT

Beastlords were in general the most irritating class in EQ 1. Mages and Necros both suffered huge physical penalties in exchange for thier powerful pets and solo abilities Beastlords did not. It required far more skill to solo either of those classes than the BL. I'm not saying there weren't skilled Beastlords out there, there were many. There were also very many unskilled that were able to do things simply because of the class they chose, rather than knowledge and skill. I'm personally thankful for the omission of the BL in EQ 2. This is simply my opinion <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>People who played them as a main.. loved them.  People who didn't.. resented them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have a 70 beast myself.. was the first class that I could say I enjoyed all the way through in the time I spent playing EQ1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for why they're not in game?  You could explain it with the lore a thousand different ways if you wanted to.. perhaps discord leaking into the world disrupted the spirits (the BL 1.5 epic involved discord trying to tap the primal forces of the beastlord to subvert it).  Maybe the cataclysms themselves put the realms the beastlord reached into in disarray and chaos.  Whatever the lore they were left out of the game.. it may be better that way.. to be honest they'd be a tough class to water down in the same way other classes had to be shifted/diluted to achieve balance.  Whatever the result would be I'm sure alot of EQ1 beastlords wouldn't have been happy with the EQ2 version had it existed.  That and... for every class you need a class above.  What class tree would beastlords branch from?  Priest?  Fighter?  Scout?  Mage?  None of them really fit.. they were a combination of monk / shaman in dynamics and lore (a lesser version of each) with a pet more powerful than the shaman pet.  They don't really fit anywhere in the class tree progression.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I do however think it's hillarious that in the Stonestair Byway in Freeport (home to Erudites and Kerrans) there's a cat named Paragon sleeping next to one of the buildings on some crates.</DIV>
