<DIV>Wait....I bet I'm the only one who even knows who these characters are.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm especially interested in Lanys and Firiona.</DIV>

<DIV>I thought Lanys died in EQlive.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Firiona would be very old by now no?  I know...maybe she was....kidnapped...*gasp*  Who would have guessed that one?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Al'Kabor?  Maybe he bit the dust during the nexus fiasco?  Or maybe whatever changed the Erudite's skin didn't take too well with him.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No idea who Thubr is.</DIV>

<DIV>Those characters appeared in EQ1, which takes place 500 years in the past, so I wouldn't expect them to appear in EQ2.  One thing I really like about EQ2 is the way they've incorporated things from the past (EQ1) seamlessly into the game.  Head to Antonica and see Holly Windstalker's grave (and watch out for her ghost!).  Climb Fippy Darkpaw's Hill.  There are many more examples.</DIV>

<DIV>"Wait....I bet I'm the only one who even knows who these characters are"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nah, the lore is out there to read on some really great sites. I started playing EQ1 post Kunark, so I missed the distribution of all that great stuff originally, but have been playing catch up the last 6 months or so in anticipation of EQ2.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And I have to disagree with you HeiligHangranate, a few sparse references to old EQ NPC's and clock wheel in Baubbleshire doesn't do it for me at all. i realize it's been 500 years, but it doesn't sound like Norrath, it doesn't look like Norrath and it doesnt FEEL like Norrath.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would have liked to see similar landscapes, similar structures, even if they're destroyed or decrepit. Something to give credence that it's Everquest TWO, know what I mean?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Arch</DIV>

<DIV>Well from what I understand... Most that stuff you are mentioning are on differnt continets that have been "lost" with the breaking.   Faydawer (or however that was spelled)  Hasnt been found scince the breaking... but its been hinted as a possible expansion.  Probally same with Kunark and Vellious.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am very curious to find the ruines of Halas..  Look for things that were on Anatonica continent and you may reconize more then you expected. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Well, Lucan was in EQ Live and he's still around, though it looks like he might be undead. Norrath is magic, I don't think age is a primary consideration. I bet they are hanging out somewhere. Don't forget, Firiona was an avatar of Tunare, so when the gods withdrew, she pretty much had to as well. Probably they are all playing cards in the Plane of Growth.</DIV>

<DIV>I'd like to see the ruins of Halas also. When you get a chance, look around Blackburrow.</DIV> <DIV>There used to be a tunnel (filled with gnoll trains) that led to Halas.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you explore a little you may find an interesting location.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rivervale is a spooky place now too.</DIV>

Lanys was a Demi-God last I checked, she suffered the same fate as the other gods.Which means, she's probably in the same fate as the other gods.

<DIV>Lanys was killed by Innoruuk, body and soul, quite a while ago. There was a whole series of GM events about this at one point in EQL. As for the others though, I have no idea.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And actually, ive seen quite a bit relating to EQL just in Qeynos..  It doesnt really look much the same, even the temple of life changed quite a bit though it is still there. I guess a lot of change can happen in 500 years though. Think how much our world has changed in 500 years, it isnt too much of a suprise really.</DIV>

<DIV>I don't expect to see anything remotely familiar because it has been 500 years and a cataclysm since the old days, so when I do find something that takes me back, even just a little, it is a real treat. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Finding Fippy Darkpaw the 4th was pretty cool. Hint: you won't find him on Fippy's hill <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Al'Kabor and all the others will be dead. Firiona either died when Tunare buggered off, or she went with her to Plane of Growth, or she's hanging inside Qeynos Castle advising Antonia.</DIV>

<DIV>If you look around, there are a lot of things from Everquest 1 in game.  I saw the great gear of akanon in baubleshire, the clock of akanon in qeynos north.. etc.,  And those were just stumbling across.  I'm sure there is at least one eq1 relic in every city zone.</DIV>

<DIV>There is lore about Firiona out there - she was withering away in her Felwithe tower when the Rallosian Army came'a'knockin'.  Evindetly, after Tunare pulled back from the mortal realm, Firiona's power began the dwindle and her father hid her Paladin gear away in the castle.  A mysterious, cloaked figure visited her one evening with news - news that gave her back her spark - and off she went.  Thats where the story ended though... after that, I dont know.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lanys T'vyl was killed in EQL a good while back.  Her lust for power and ego got the better of her and she tested Innorruk...he put the '[Removed for Content] hand' down on her and she hasnt been heard from since.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I remember something of Al'Kabor being on Luclin when the Nexus was destroyed.  I'm guessing he was trapped there and that these days, well.... see that shooting star falling to Norrath over the Willow Wood?...well thats Al'Kabor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thubr...no clue.:smileysad:</DIV>

Adherence to canon lore has been rather hit or miss lately in EQ1. I'm not surprised.

<DIV>Lanys currently hangs in Hate with her daddy for the rogue epic 1.5.  You have to go up there beat up her physical form and steal a piece of her soul.</DIV>

<DIV>Kizdean Gix has survived he is till in the Commonlands some 500 years later. Lucan was undead in EQL by the way it is the curse of Mithaniel Marr for breaking his oath as servant of the truthbringer.</DIV>

<DIV>I wouldn't be surprised if all these people are kicking around somewhere. After all, Hasten Bootstrutter (JBoots NPC of EQL) has managed to catalog points of interest in Antonica and the Commonlands. And from what I remember of a dev comment on the beta boards, Hasten has lots of other quests out there for nice gear (nothing specific, just hints of things to come). If an adult gnome can survive 500 years and THEN the shattering of luclin, I don't see why some god-blessed NPC's won't make it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Unfortunately, SOE was unable to reach contract agreements with those particular characters. Rumor has it that George Steinbrenner has extended offers to them, and they will be in the Yankee bullpen this upcoming spring.

<DIV>A few weeks.  I some of them, and reading others through the paper you could buy in Neriak.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lanys had escaped Hate back to Norrath when a new Chosen had been found amongst the Teir'Dal.  Lanys kidnapped the new Child of Hate and hid her away in Befallen off of the West Commonlands.   For awhile, there were dark elves encamped in WFP as part of this (sent by the royals to regain the Chosen).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Later, she tried to assemble some great artifact that would allow her to destroy Innoruuk and take his place, but failed and was destroyed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Given that she was a demi-god, and that Innoruuk's one seriously vengeful S.O.B., it doesn't surprise me that he kept her soul in Hate to torture.</DIV>

<blockquote><hr>IlluvatorBrightstar wrote:No reason to believe Firiona isn't around somewhere... unless she was killed. Last I checked Elves don't die of old age....<hr></blockquote>That's up for debate. the EQ RPG book states elven lifespan ~700 years. though she could still easily be alive. Contradicting this there are NPC's standing in casleveiw hamlet who specifically say something aout elves not aging. Either way, there should be 500 years isn't enough time for the world to have forgotten the Age of Turmoil.

Lucan then turned to the Dismal Rage (the church in Freeport that worships all evil gods), made a pact with them, and they gave him eternal life as a lich. <DIV>For all intents and purposes the revival of Firiona Vie and Lanys T'Vyl with the latest EQlive expansion completely and 100% conflicts with former lore.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course, back then, VERANT was runnign the game, and not Sony Online Entertainment. Once Verant was forced to undergo a name change, all the lore and GM events in EQlive just went right out the window, untill they tried to come up with more lore of thier own with the Legacy of Ykesha, Lost Dungeons of Norrath, Gates of Discord, and Omens of War expansions. Pretty poor but at least they tried.</DIV>

for one who was a daughter of tunare and is always an elf and followed the lore of firona she is a high elf yes but as stated she was also avatar of time there for doesnt this give her a more prolonged life span and make it more plausible that she shows up?  Also when reading the lore her father is not her father.

But there are a whole ton of storylines that connect with the storylines of EQ1, besides that. The whole thing with Vox/Naggy/Sleeper, the saga in Fallen Gate, Kane Bayle and the Bloodsabers (one of my personal favorites), Varsoon, the Unseen Hand and Fippy, plus all those heritage quests. There are NPCs in most portions of town that'll give you an account of the recent history of their races. Most of the book quests give you history to fill in the gaps between EQ1 and EQ2. </span><div></div>

Actually, Lucan is immortal according to EQlive lore, because the penalty for betraying the Oath of the Truthbringer is wretched undeath.
