Greetings, is it just poor eyesight, or is there no difference except the power cost between Revulsion and Repulsion? working as intended ? <div></div>

The spells only difference in resistebility is quality so theres no difference in the two spells other than power cost.<BR>

What nimsul said. When the game came out, spells and equipment were leveled and greyed out the same way mobs do. If you were using equipment or a spell that was grey to the mob you were fighting, it didn't do anything. They changed that at some point (I believe LU13), so now spells only use the level of the caster, the resists of the mob, and the 'resistability' tag in the spell description when determining resists. I use my level 7 Adept 3 of Revulsion at 40, I never get any resists. I also use my level 24 Master 2 DPS debuff, as it works the same way. Many spells have adendums in the description which say something akin to, 'this spell is easier to resist for mobs above level X'. The oversite to our two spell lines confuses me, but I expect that to eventually change. Until then, I keep using my level 7 spell and won't upgrade any others.<div></div>

your ordination skill will also play into resistability (for debuffs anyway).. disruption for nukes and subjugation for control spells

So when you say the only difference in resistability is quality, what exactly does that mean? Can you give an example?<BR>

<DIV>A Master 1 version of a lower level debuff will land more often than an Adept 3 version of the same spell even if it significantly higher level than the lower.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The exception to this as of Live Update #24 is any spell with control effects such as fear, stun and stifle.</DIV>

By quality he means App1-4, Adept1,3, Master1,2. If you look at each version of the same spell, there is a trait called 'resistability' in the description, it is the only thing that changes in any given version of the spell in the whole line, and it only changes based on the quality of the spell. You did read somewhere that Spell level (as in level 7 versus level 49) effects the resistability. It was that way at release. If I tried to use a level 7 spell on even a level 20 mob, it was almost always resisted. They fixed/changed that with one of the LU's (I believe 13), and now only your character level, the skill for the spell, the mob's resists, and the 'resistability' affect spells that do not have an adendum that states otherwise. With most damage spells, the point is moot, since the higher level spells have better power/damage ratios and do more damage, but with the percentage based spells, this means that the lower level versions in the same line work better than the higher ones, since the percentages are all the same but the power is lower. One of the Dev's had a post explaining why they couldn't make them actual upgrades after the change, I can dig it up, I think. But I expect this to eventually change whenever the next combat revamp happens.<div></div>

I've got the lvl7 version at Master, as well as Loathing. I recently started using Loathing instead of Revulsion because it seemed like I just wasn't landing the lvl7 version enough, but based on your post I'll switch back and see if there's really a difference or not.

I admitedly do not use it every fight, but I do use it when soloing heroics or 1ups. That I can recall, I have never had the Adept 3 version of the level 7 spell resisted. I have had the Adept 1 version of the level 21 spell resisted, but only a handful (3 or 4) times. I have never even used the level 35 version, and it's still at App1 if I tried. That's certainly anecdotal, and relies on my memory not being fallable to boot, but that has been my experience.<div></div>
