I try to avoid using the AE hate reducers, but once in a while they come in handy. Or rather used to come in handy. At level 30 and both of the ones I have at app 3 they never seem to work. The first few times I put it down to unlucky resists, but thinking back I don't think I have seen the new one ever work and the old one (grey now) seems to have stopped doing its job too. It used to be fairly reliable.

Is this pure imagination because I have been unlucky a few times and only remember the times it didn't work or are they not working at my level?

That's strange; I've been using hate reducers for as long as I got them, and they work pretty well. They seem to be most effective if applied early in the fight once you catch agro though.

I too have had them work for me enough that I can see having one on a hotkey. No weirdness so far.

The key, as I've found, is making sure your group knows that your going to cast it. Tell them to stop attacking and start running. If they hit once after the fear is cast, it's waisted. From my experience.

For me it has always been a last resort to help tank get aggro of me if mobs take too much of a liking to me for him/her to get them off

Message Edited by Merrygrin on 01-04-2005 04:29 PM

I was speaking about Fear (Phantasm). And using it to get the mobs away when it's time to bail.
