<DIV>Greetings all, I am a 20 Mystic, main is a 28 Guardian. Right now I am loving my Mystic way more than I ever thought I would...even more then my Guardian. I think I do a great job healing so my question is what is with the we arent good healers stuff? I am obviously new to the class and am not super informed so inlighten me please. lol. Basically, I would like to hear from some higher Mystics as to how we get better or worse as time progresses. Here is what I have personally noticed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1, I have noticed my wards can drop from what appears to be random hits from a mob which kinda stinks, unless it is a caster debuffing me I dont think that should happen.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2, I notice my wards drop if I assist my tank ( have him targeted instead of the mob) cast a ward on him then cast another spell i.e. contagion, wailing haze or something like that and the ward then disapears.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is all I have really noticed with my toon, am I wrong with my 2 observations? Also, what should I look out for in the future; and what should I look forward to? Maybe try and start a quest thread for items that are good for mystics? Thanks all. Happy gaming.</DIV>

Hello! I am a level 34 Erudite Mystic. When I was level 20 and a few levels after that, I couldn't really keep a group alive, and I could pull hate off of ANY tank with a few heals and wards. It actually got to the point of me questioning my class. But, as I leveled it got alot better, and I realised I could keep a group alive as well as any Templar, Fury, or Warden; -- If not better. You said:1, I have noticed my wards can drop from what appears to be random hits from a mob which kinda stinks, unless it is a caster debuffing me I dont think that should happen. You have to remember wards only suck up a certain amount of damage, and AC is not taken into consideration. Other than that, I really don't understand what you mean. You said:2, I notice my wards drop if I assist my tank ( have him targeted instead of the mob) cast a ward on him then cast another spell i.e. contagion, wailing haze or something like that and the ward then disapears.Atleast for me, this is not the case. I always auto-assist the tank, slap my debuffs, wards, heals, dots and nukes as needed without ever having this problem. Your ward is most likely running out of damage absorbsion. Unless you keep your wards upgraded or are fighting decently conned mobs, your wards will dissappear very quickly. What should you look out for in the future?Hmm, from level 20 to level 23, try not and be a main healer versus very tuff mobs. At higher levels it gets better. Other than that, I don't think there is much you'll need to look out for.And what should you look forward to?Enchanted Black Iron Chain armor, found in runnyeye (which is found in Enchanted lands; just incase hehe.) Can't think of any specific quests at the moment, but I advise you do all 6 armor quests so you don't have to worry about armor for a while.Hope I have helped!Wier, 34 Erudite Mystic; Lucan D'Lere

<DIV>Once you get two different wards I find life gets better.  Because I can use my lower level ward as a spot stop damage to let my refresh resume on the larger ward.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Although I still think AC should take effect.  And I feel like our wards should work agianst combat arts and spells...</DIV>

I use both Spectral Ward and Ancestrial ward when I am warding. I use Ancestrial ward first, then spectral. Spectral is the first to wear off and I still have my stonger ward, Ancestrial.

<DIV>Thanks for all the info, people here seem real cool  and helpful. Last night completing armor quest 3 (definatly taking the do all armor quest advice) I had my first bad time with my toon. My wards were dropping litterally a second or two after casting. We were fighting those little jelly looking things near the entrance to the library (cant remember name). I was a secondary healer so it wasn't a big deal, my ward is an adept3....I was very frustrated. So now I guess I feel what the other Mystics feel when complaining about their wards. However, I dont like to be a big whiner so here is my next question. I have healing ritual up to adept 3 also, so...would it be better on my power bar to just cast heals on my tank? I will try this out tonight, just curious what others did at my level. Thanks again all. </DIV>

<DIV>I can add one thing though that might make you feel very good.  As a 28 mystic (by no means high level but working on it!) I have to wait about 5 seconds to get into a group on AB.  The only time I have trouble getting a group is if I want to hunt something specific and rare.  Then it takes me about 5 mins.  I am not in a guild, so all my groups are pick up group.  I'd say over 50% of the time I am the only healer in the group.  I'd venture to say on average maybe one death a day, a wipe every 4 days or so since I have learned how to use our spells.  But those wipes have been when I informed our group that it was a high risk situation, or someone just did something really dumb (like not realize sirens are agro while swimming around the siren ruins...).  And the one death a day thing is usualy for the same reason, someone does something stupid (like a tank pulls a mob to the wrong spot where our group is not waitting, or someone gets lost ina dungeon and I cant run back intimt to save them). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But if I am in a group and going to do sometihng high risk or stupid on purpose it is when we are going to call it a night soon so exp debt is gone before next time I log on in most cases.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Someone is going to freak out now but....  Until the food patch foes in I am still using summon food and drink (comense screaming) <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  but I don't want to pay the outrageous prices people are charging for stuff without knowing what it does.  And even with that I am usualy at FP within a  few moments after a mob is slain.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I normaly cast my two wards, let tank pull.  I always cast our slow spell, and if my wards are still up I begin casting our major debuffs.  Once my elmental dembuff is up I cast my DOT's if I am bored and ward is still up, if not I rinse and repeat as needed.  Sometimes I sing songs and tuant the enemy verbaly for fun.    I use our big heal for when a tank gets into the orange (I dont heal them until then if wards hold by recasting).  That's what I do and if you are quick and pay attention it works very well for me.  Only one complaint ever by a tank wich if you read my other thread was not warented.  But even that tank still asks me to group with him, so I must have been doing something right <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway having said all that, our ward spell should work with the AC of a tank or get a buff up in damage absorbed.  That way we never have to wory about if we should skip ward and just heal.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am going to change my stategy some now for crusaders.  Using ward less on them, but I will still go with my gut and if I think a ward is what needs to be cast, then I am using that even if the numbers say different.  Because I like ward <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> it's why I went mystic.</DIV>

<DIV>Well, I think I found the answer to my problem! I checked another board (dont remember what one, sorry) and I also checked with a higher lv Mystic friend. To recap...my problem was my ward dropping real fast in combat. Well, my buddy aksed if I was grouped with a Templar. I said "yup", then he informed me when a higher lv Templar uses a reactive heal  their heal drops our ward. Anyone else find this to be true? Cause I think that was the case. Oh yea, I am still loving my Mystic.</DIV>

So if someone told yuo that they gave you false information. Note that this is from beta, there is a chance things have changed.<BR>

<DIV>I hope thats not the case cause that would make a Mystic Templar combo a really poor healing duo. I think I read the same thing on the Spells board. But I really hope that info is in fact not true.</DIV>

<DIV>The vitaes (reactive heals) dont over-write the wards, but they don't mix particularly well, because if you are doing your job and the wards stay up, the reactive heals never fire.  The reactives only fire if the tank takes damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Having said that, I wonder if the reactives fire on special attacks?  If that is the case then that's better (though still weird) since special attacks float straight past a ward like it's not there - the reactives will fire on the specials and the wards will protect from the 'normals'.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IMHO it's all a bit weird, but it does work once you're used to it.</DIV>
