<DIV><FONT size=3>I'm not here to post some leet strat on how to play your Mystic perfectly, but I would like to share some of my recent experiences as a sort of different way to make you have more fun playing while waiting for fixes which may or may not happen. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3>I am level 46 right now, and for the larger part of my playing career I, like many of you I'm sure,  played with one group, a group of guildies with a similar mindset and playing time. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3>I love all of these guys, but I wouldn't call the group a "demolishion crew". No biggie, good players can succeed no matter what the group configuration is. Several levels ago, though, my tank (husband) and I joined another group of guildies to exp with once in a while, and this group included both a Troubador and a Dirge. I already knew that bards were great to have around...I dunno what it is but with a bard in your group, everything just seems easier. I felt the same way about a great chanter I grouped with in beta....she practically trivialized otherwise tough encounters with her chanter powa'.  Anyways, bard buffs add hit points, power, damage AND procs, resists, you name it, turning your groups DPS classes (and you if you melee with Ursine) into <EM>machines, </EM>and generally tightening up your ship. With both the "Troubador Weapon" and "Dirge Weapon" procs going off for me at more damage than our DD nukes, I can only imagine what the other DPS classes are cranking out. With these two in our group (which also included a Warden as a second healer) things just die so....[expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]....fast. Most of the time I don't bother slowing mobs unless it is a named, and I do throw AE slow if its a group of mobs (cuz we all know how well ward does against 3+ tough group mobs =l ). Plain old ward is perfectly fine at keeping my tank up...I cast it maybe once a fight, but I'm sure I'd have to work a little harder if the Warden weren't there. Even still, that just means more DPS could be added to the group.  I can almost fall asleep in this group...and it makes me feel a little better about the state of Mystics in this game.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3>I urge all of you to get yourself into a killing machine group. Grab some swashbucklers and assassins, monks and berserkers, and throw in that bard! Sometimes changint things up in your normal routine can have a big impact on your quality of play.  Try it, you'll like it :smileywink:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3>Regards,</FONT></DIV>

My main is a Troubadour and I am glad you said those words that really made Bards feel useful. They are probably one of the underplayed and underestimated classes. After reading all these bunch of posts, I am not sure if I should re-roll as a Templar. All considered, you really have to say that Templar w/ heavy armor and reactive heals ishands down the best healer of all. Yes yes, all 3 priests class are same. But seriously... I started a shaman because the main purpose is to be a healer to 2 of my friends that is going to beplaying with me quite regularly (Paladin and Ranger). That's why I abandoned my Troubadour. So I seek for a good healing class. I am L15 now, wards are fine for the most part, but lookingat the drawbacks of ward really made me think twice now. I will probably be the main healerfor a lot of the times so I am worried about Shaman's usefulness. On the other hand, Shaman class is way cool. Bear form and ward itself is my reason I chose Shaman. But looking at the way ward works and you have to chain ward like mad to even heal properly...Any help or advice here? Seriously, I just want a class to really heal my 2 friends. If you all thinkthat Shaman is a good route all the way to L50, I will stick to it. If you disagree otherwise, please let me know, I will start a Templar anytime.

If you look at Cleric/Templar's forum, there's almost no posts (well, maybe 1) on the issue of Templar being a gimped or weak healer.Check out link here:<a href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=13&message.id=417" target=_blank> Do templars seem to be a [Removed for Content] healing class?</a>A lot of the responses are very positive. If you look at our Shaman/Mystic class, there seems to be quite a number of posts on weakness of Wards and Shaman.NOT that we aren't a good healing class, just that it is more struggle and challengeto be an effective Shaman. There are a couple of issues with Shaman that sometimesdoes create frustration not found in Templar class.

<DIV>On the bard appreciation thing, you can't really blame people if they've never grouped with one and don't know the benefits of having one in group. I didn't have any idea till one of our guild's Dirges joined us in Runnyeye. That place is notorious for making ballsy young adventurers try to work their way down to the deep, hard areas. With the Dirge in the group, nothing seemed too hard, and we rocked that place inside out. Now I almost never want to be without a bard in the group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On the Mystic appreciation thing, you really have to love the class IMO, otherwise you may get discouraged too easily. I wouldn't call playing a shaman the easiest class in the world. We can't lazily throw a reactive heal on the tank and let it heal him up for us with each blow, or throw a regen on him and know exactly how long it's healing and for how much every time. "Preventative healing", which is our role, takes a certain amount of attention that you may not be able to give if you're thinking you should be playing another class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just remember that there were a lot of underappreciated and underdeveloped classes when EQ 1 first came out, and just to avoid making direct connections between this game and that one, the same can be said about every MMORPG out there. With time, we will see how much better the shaman class can be.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regards,</DIV>
