This happend last night.Me and a friend was in TS and doing some level 20-23^^ undeads, skeletons and scarecrows. He's a 23 guardian and im a 21 mystic.Sometimes when I put a ward on him it just went away after a single blow. Some attackers were really annoying and it was a close call sometimes since it seemed like the mob made over 400 dmg each time I put up a ward.I decided to check at the end of the night what kind of damage the ward could take but found something weird instead of high damage in the battle logs. The damage was about 35 each time but the attack crushing blow was used. My question now is, does this attack have some spell destroying ability or is it something with damage not being registered in the log window?Thought I would turn on logging tonight and see if I can get some specific data that can tell me if it's the attack itself or just high damage that isn't registered.

Well, I experienced a similar thing last night. I got attacked by Holly Windstalker and based on how fast my hp dropped I got hit by way over 100 (for about 150-200 I would say). I later checked log which said that Holly never hit me for more than about that 35 you already mentioned. I would say that something is bugged,

<DIV>Throughout EQ monsters are usually equipped with the same skills as players.  There are wizard, cleric, and warrior mobs - just as there are wizard, cleric, and warrior players.  Does it not make sense that if we can perform HOs, and debuffs on them that they could also do the same to us?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm not sure what class the mobs you were both fighting would fall into, therefore I cannot verify the types of HOs or debuffs they may have launched upon you.  But there is a fighter/priest HO called Crippling Shroud which is an opponent debuff.  And there are several spells in the game that would also debuff an opponent.  Any HOs that your fellow group members inniated would not be the cause of the problem - all of them are only ever beneficial in one way or another to your group (either by harming the mob or by buffing your group).  Now an HO the mob landed on your group...that's another story <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just a few thoughts,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Well for me since lvl19 now lvl 23 I find if its the same lvl as me the ward only las about 1/2 and quits. It almost never last the whole time. I like it but I think it sux. I understand if its a very high lvl your fighting then it makes sence but I fought a lvl 19 and me at 23 and it only lasted 1/2 and quit evertime.</DIV>

Yeah, the ward never goes more than 15-20 seconds when fighting, what Im talking about is when the ward goes down after about 1-2 seconds. It also goes down due to a blow that does about 35 damage and thats what odd about it.I did some checking last night while out fighting with two friends but forgot to turn on logging of course. Here's the info I got from just checking the combat log window though.Once a mob started to pummel down the ward I put on the tank over and over again I just stopped casting it to see what damage the mob actually did and if it was consistent with the numbers in the log. We fought mainly non spellcaster so they couldn't use magic to take the ward down.I found that some nasty ones actually did do that much damage but then it showed up in the logs as it should and I had to heal and recast ward like crazy to keep him alive. The other ones that brought down a ward with low damage crushing blow could barely make a scratch on him. I could let him stand unwarded for the entire fight without having to do more than heal him once or twice due to the mob doing a special or two.It was really weird to see that the tank could stand there unharmed without a ward and each time I put one on him it would go down after a second. Im gonna make sure to turn on logging tonight and make sure this is a special move the mobs have that does it and not a bug which makes our wards useless against certain mobs.<p>Message Edited by bouek on <span class=date_text>12-17-2004</span> <span class=time_text>12:15 AM</span>

Not sure how longBoV and HoT will do against yellow^^ and orange^^ ...

<DIV>Level 40ish ++ mobs will Crushing Blow for 1200.  I'd much rather have my ward eat most of that than try to put the pieces of the tank back together after the fact.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Crushing Blow is usually used at the beginning of an encounter, so make sure to ward your tank before the pull.  Then, if Crushing Blow and/or Barrage isn't blocked/parried/riposted, cast the ward again.  It is not hard.</DIV>

That would allow my ward load up again before previous ward drops. Now I have to heal like crazy since ward is not up when it drops from tank.

<DIV>Basically look at it like this..... wards suck [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] right now. They dont take mitigation into account, they dont take dot dmg, and they dont take special attacks. So basically since the wizard i group with is higher lvl than my tank he could nearly tank better (excluding the fact that gaurdians might have better dodging skills). They need to fix this [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] im tired of wards taking max dmg during battle while druids and clerics sit back and heal everythign with their 1 heal while i have to chain ward and use spot heals.</DIV>
