View Full Version : Woohoo. Water Spirit for level 23. Great. Not(?)

<DIV>The Water Spirit spell gained at level 23.  Am I missing something, or is a Water Breathing spell with +1AC buff for level 23 pretty dang crappy?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I got water breathing before level 10 and my AC is 1200.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What use is this, precisely?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If it gets dramatically better at App2+, then great, but the App1 spell awarded is currently pointless and a BIG disappointment.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone have any info on this to cheer me up?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>THanks</DIV>

App 2 gave me 2 ac. It Seems like a useless filler spell to me. Fortunately App 2 only cost a silver.

<DIV>Yeah not sure what the point of this spell is. But anyone else having problems with it?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Had the need to use it a lot hunting Tide Octopi in TS with a group and the spell kept randomly stop working on group members. Plenty of time left on the timer and the spell icon was still up. But had it happen half a dozen times in an hour last night.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>w-o-r-t-h-l-e-s-s</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hopefully this spell will be reviewed and something done to improve it. At little more stackable AC would be useful, I got 3 ac at app 1 and upgraded to app 2 and only got 1 ac. So hopefully that indicates that it's bugged and thus will be fixed.</DIV>

<DIV>Well, I am going to /feedback and /bug this and I suggest you guys do the same - this cannot be working as intended!</DIV>

<DIV>There are going to be spells that just seem worthless, however, if they introduce a zone like Kedge or SG, we'll be thankful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That said, at the point we receive this spell it is of very little value.</DIV>

A few ac out of well over 1000 still is not of benefit to warrant a new spell.

<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EDIT</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>***I must of had some other buff on me raising deffense a few points***</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The level 37sih upgrade lasts for 15 min...was a disapointment.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Felps</DIV><p>Message Edited by Felps on <span class=date_text>01-08-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:19 PM</span>

<DIV>This is also not the last upgrade to that line of spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This would indicate to me that, hopefully, there is some use for this spell type coming that we are unaware of at present.</DIV>

<DIV>I think it should last longer, and have a see under water vision added to it.  But even then it is not much better than EB, so maybe a swim skill boost as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just some thoughts.</DIV>

Underwater vision would be t3h w1n! It'd still be crappy for a level 23 spell, but I might be willing to overlook that to have a buff that gives underwater vision. As far as a swim skill buff, at this level your swim should be pretty high anyway, so it'd basically be moot. Not that I'd cry if they threw it in there, but it'd be my last choice for an improvement to this buff. Longer duration and more AC would be a great start though, and the underwater vision would just be amazing.

<DIV>If I'm not mistaken the "blur" effect underwater is an option you can turn on and off.</DIV>

I made a trade with a sage last night and he could only make spells up to level 23. Well I already had delusion, so for kicks, my trade was water spirit app 3 and ursine elder app 3.I'll test out water spirit app 3 tonight but I mostly got it for giggles <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Spell is nearly as useless as path of the grey.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I expected this spell to be a nice ac boost, but alas it just stinks.</DIV>

<DIV>If you think Path of the Gray is useless please don't ask me to your group.</DIV>

<DIV>I concour with Korlace. My battle rez as a lv 22 Warden is pretty useless seeing how it rezzes with just about 0 HP and Power. Its not a very good spell, and I have never used it in combat and I doubt I ever will. Ive only used it as a filler rez if another group wipes out.</DIV>

12-11-2004, 08:21 PM
<DIV>If you had used your battle rez, you would find that the person doesn't draw "low health aggro" as they would have in EQ1. I have yet to have someone die after using it...just chain a heal behind it and tell the surprised party member to get back to work. The toughest call is when to bring someone back and when not to...every time I've used it so far, the person ends up dying twice because the reason they died in the first place was a hopeless situation. Not the spell's fault, though.</DIV>

12-11-2004, 08:55 PM
<DIV>get to 25+ and you will get plenty use for path of grey. res the member b4 ur scout evacs, that way everyone get evaced and u won't have to fight to get shard back. also, all mages have hp-> mana spell, so rez them, toss in a heal and they r back to casting, in the case of a chanter this maybe the spell that saves ur grp.</DIV>

<DIV>Whats wrong with Water Spirit guys? I must have recived over half of my total xp from battles with water dwelling monsters. You guys seriously need to swim more cuase the ocean is full of usefull drops and hellacious xp. Theres nothing quite like cutting up dophins and whales and crap, not to mention clubbing baby seals. None of this would be possible with out a decent water breathing buff like the most awesome spell of all time(aka Water Spirit).:robotvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>                                              </DIV> <DIV>p.s. path of grey rocks</DIV> <P>Message Edited by OMasterBlasterO on <SPAN class=date_text>12-11-2004</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>08:07 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by OMasterBlasterO on <span class=date_text>12-11-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:35 AM</span>

<DIV>Nothing is wrong with Water Spirit execpt that it is a higher level spell that does the exact same thing as EB (no time increase) but give you plus 1 ac as a bonus.  and it is the only spell you get that level.  And we have to look forward to an upgrade ven later on that might not add any more time or more bonus.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That is what wrong.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What I'd really like to see is also a time increase and make it a group cast spell.  It is such a pain as the only healer in a group to have to recast it over and over again.  </DIV>

12-17-2004, 05:33 AM
<DIV>I do find water spirit useless but time will tell. Path of the gray I like that. So far everytime I use the person never gets argo so they are happy and with a little heals there right back in the game..</DIV>

1AC = basically nothing. Enduring Breath does about the same thing, so I wonder why they even bothered to add another one to game. That spell wassupposed to increase defence, so I wonder why they did it so lame. Unless...Could it be that AC increase only works in water? It is WATER spirit after all. Has anyone tested that?

12-18-2004, 12:06 AM
I'm also of the opinion that looking at AC is wrong for this spell.Does anyone happen to know exactly what the Defense skill does?

12-18-2004, 12:52 AM
<DIV>The higher your defense.. the less you are being hit.</DIV> <DIV>In lvl 23 I get 7 points defense from it aswell.</DIV> <DIV><STRONG>7 points is about 2 levels worth of defense there ladies.</STRONG></DIV> <DIV>And if it only helps to evade 2 hits in a combat.. thats 2 hits you dont need to heal.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I was foolish enough to buy the adept 1 version of this spell, hoping for some significant AC increase. Alas, I also only get +1AC (+1 to my defense score)as well. What a waste! It should be renamed "Spirit of Lame Duck".
