<DIV>This data is gathered as a level 27 Halfling Mystic on the Mistmoore server.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At level 27, Spectral Ward (Apprentice III) costs 55 power and absorbs 403 damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>403 / 55 = 7.32 HP absorbed per power point.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At level 27, Ancestral Ward (Apprentice III) costs 71 power and absorbs 511 damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>511 / 71 = 7.19 HP absorbed per power point.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This does not seem to be a step in the right direction.  The additional warding ability afforded by Ancestral Ward is mostly negligible when level 30ish stuff Barrages for 600 anyway.  I believe Ancestral Ward could use a bit of a boost.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, the two wards currently stack, which is probably not intended.</DIV>

<DIV>well, the only thing that comes to mind is maybe that SW is near the end of it's life and won't really absorb any more as time goes on.  Whereas hopefully AW will continue moving up with levelling.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Periak on <span class=date_text>12-02-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:36 AM</span>

<DIV>aye the spell is still orange at 27, give it a few more levels and parse again, you will have better results</DIV>

<DIV>I'd further guess that the stacking *is* intentional for just that reason.</DIV>

<DIV>At level 35 I believe my tank told me that my app 2 Ancestral Ward absorbed 650+ in damage. I only have app 2 because I have not seen the adept drop (but it IS out there) and the spellcrafters on our server are slacking pretty badly. Spectral Ward is long since gray to me. Despite your findings, it won't take very long for AW to outperform SW.</DIV> <DIV>As for them stacking, I too noticed that you can cast one on top of the other, but I would be surprised if it was anything more than a graphical error. Not sure how 2 stacked wards would work, if they do, or if they are even meant to.</DIV>

<P>They stack, but they stack funny.</P> <P>No matter which you cast first, Ancestral Ward will always get eaten before Spectral Ward.</P> <P>If you have both wards up, and Ancestral has 20 HP left to absorb, and you get hit for 500, Ancestral will absorb 20 and 480 will hit you.  After that, the next hit(s) will be absorbed by Spectral.</P>

<DIV>For Ancestral Ward, normaly, when it expires, the ward is converted to instant health Replenishement... and not for spectral ward... Cool no ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i tested it, and for the moment it's bugged... nothing is converted...</DIV>

<P>In beta, both Spectral and Ancestral ward would convert to HP when they expired.  The text stating this was removed from Spectral Ward, but is still there for Ancestral.</P> <P>I believe both wards lost their healing components due to balance concerns, but Ancestral's text was not updated.</P>

<DIV>I got my hands on a cheap Silver ( 1gp) and had Spectral Ward Adept 3 made.</DIV> <DIV>In lvl 22 it already blocks 536 points. </DIV> <DIV>The Tank I tested on was a well equipped lvl 23 Guardian.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Soo.. I am not sure if in my case Ancestral would be better, I will test and see. </DIV> <DIV>And if I get my hands on a rare again.. I will make an Adept 3 Ancestral Ward I guess <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Tamqul on <span class=date_text>12-11-2004</span> <span class=time_text>07:52 AM</span>

<DIV> <P>Update: I am now level 31.  Both spells are still Apprentice 3.</P> <P> </P> <P>At level 31, Spectral Ward costs 55 power and absorbs 403 damage.</P> <P>403 / 55 = 7.32 HP absorbed per power point.</P> <P>At level 31, Ancestral Ward costs 85 power and absorbs 599 damage.</P> <P>599 / 85 = 7.09 HP per power point.</P> <P> </P> <P>So, the ward is now absorbing an extra 88 damage and costs an extra 14 power.  Its ratio has dropped from 7.19 HP per power point to 7.09 HP per power point.</P> <P>Hopefully I can snag an adept version soon.</P></DIV>

<DIV>I dinged 23 last night and now Spectral Ward adept 3 blocks 603. What a HUGE jump.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To be honest, until I get my hands on a rare for Ancetral Ward Adept 3 or higher.. I will probably not use Ancestral then.. I dont even have it yet.. but I am already sure I wont use it.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Tamqul on <span class=date_text>12-12-2004</span> <span class=time_text>04:19 AM</span>

<DIV>At level 31, Ancestral Ward (Apprentice III) absorbed 599 health at a cost of 85 power.  The ratio was 7.04 HP per mana point.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At level 31, Ancestral Ward (Adept III) absorbed 772 health at a cost of 92 power.  The ratio was 8.39 HP per mana point.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am happy with this increase in power.  I hope that the Adept III ward will continue to have its ratio increase, rather than get lower as the App III version did.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In other good news, I got an Adept 1 version of the level 41 (I think) ward, so hopefully I will not be in the same boat when I get there as I was this last time.</DIV>
