<DIV>The elders and tormenters will spawn at just about every Sabertooth gnoll camp with a tent. Clear the camps and they spawn quickly after. There are several such camps near the Keep of the Ardent Needle in Antonica.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regards,</DIV>

The elders are kinda hard to get as you are correct.. you need to clear all 4 spawn around the camp, and then usually 2 elders and some guards spawn. After doing the first one, i am however stuck on the plaguebringer acolytes. I have searched all over and can't seem to find them anywhere in Antonica. any help here would be appreciated.. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> thanks..Tumok 20 Mystic Barbarian (oasis)<p>Message Edited by Aliano on <span class=date_text>11-17-2004</span> <span class=time_text>05:58 PM</span>

<DIV>Plaguebringer Acolytes work the same way as the elders, but you have to clear camps at the ruins of Caltorsis. There are skeletons impaled on posts, called "Foci of Decay" I believe, scattered around the ruins. You must kill the static spawn groups around these posts to spawn the acolytes. There are also such camps further north along the shore all the way to the Windstalker village. Happy hunting!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regards,</DIV>

<DIV>Anybody else having problems with the plaguebringer acolytes?  When we go to attack them after they spawn, almost immediately the encounter breaks as if somebody yelled for help and we do not get xp, loot, or quest credit.  Tried it twice. </DIV>

<DIV>I did the 1st leg of this quest the last 2 days. The undead clerics are hard to see, but look for the skeletal knights and magi, and run around hoping you don't get aggro form them, the clerics appear about right when you are on top of them, they are invisible form a distance. And as for the gnoll camps, it is timed, you will need to clear all gnolls surrounding a tent, the one that is left of the BB as you face the entrance right alongside of that mountain to be precise. I did it initially with 3 people, but the gnolls began to respawn before we could completely clear the area, so I called for all help, and with 2 warriors, a scout, and another cleric we were able to clear and got 2 tormentors and 2 elders. And then we repeated it all over again since I had to have 4 elders. </DIV> <DIV>I got a nice pair of gloves, and the 2nd part of the quest, which is killing more things in a higher quanity. I have heard there are 5 parts to get the entire armor, so, hopefully this weekend I will look nice for the lasses.</DIV>

Where and what are strongboxes? I looked all over for them in stormhold, didn't find a single one. I'm assuming they are those clickable chests, but I can't open them. How do I open these accursed things, and if those are not the correct ones, where are the strongboxes, and why would they say we need to open them if they are mobs?- Really confused bear, Tubbers.

The strongboxes are actually mobs and can be found in the chest room in the library area of Stormhold.

<DIV>Where exactly is the library area in Stormhold?  I haven't been able to find it at all.  The only strongbox I can find is right off the Atrium down some stairs and then back up the stairs to the left.  It is going to take forever to do that one strongbox 8 times.</DIV>

<DIV>The access to the library can be found in a fairly large room with 4 zombies (2 on each side) and some goos wandering around.  The entrace is a small grate in the floor of the room.  There is also a message displayed when you find the right room, something about algea on the walls and hearing water drip I think.  It is in the area of the room with the skeleton archer if memory serves.</DIV>

<DIV>I need a little help with the acolytes, please.  Our party wiped out all the static camps around three different foci of decay along the water north and northwest of windstalker.  Each time, the same restless calthorsite groups would spawn up, never acolytes.  Is there some special trick to this?</DIV>

<DIV>I beggin to think this is going to spawm up to level 30 to finally complete this.  I finished the first 2 parts but part 3 with all the zomebies is a little tough for a level 22 guy.</DIV>

Nnath
11-29-2004, 10:58 PM
<DIV>I did the acolytes with a pick-up group last night and everything worked fine, no tricks.  We did the spawns around the actual ruins, not sure if that matters at all though.  For each foci we killed the 4 groups around it, outpacing any respawn and then the acolytes would spawn at the foci.  The foci behind the ruins spawns 4 acolytes, the one near the cliff to the west of the ruins spawns 5.  I'm not sure how many the one to the south of the ruins spawns.</DIV>

Jeridor
11-29-2004, 11:02 PM
<DIV>Hmm, do you know if it's ok to a) grab all the camps at once and kill them and; b) break the encounter with the camps (not the acolytes, the other camps)?  We were doing this to make it easier to clear all the camps out and basically all the camps would return at the same time because we wiped them out all at the same time.</DIV>

Nnath
11-29-2004, 11:09 PM
<DIV>My only experience is killing the spawns roughly 1 at a time around 1 foci at a time.  However, at least once an xp group did pull and kill one of the spawns around a foci we were working.  In that case, the acolytes did still spawn as usual.</DIV>

Jeridor
11-29-2004, 11:12 PM
<DIV>Gotcha. And just to clarify, there are many foci along the cliff.  Any of these should work?  When you said around the ruins, I don't know if you mean there are some REALLY close to the ruins or if you mean those up by the cliff near the water.</DIV>

<DIV>If your group does not have this problem, then great, more power to you.  But, I know alot of folks who are, here is how my group solved the situation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Problem--you kill all four groups of Skeletons around the stick, the Acolytes spawn, you attack them, they LOCK and become worthless.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cause---Unknown.  Overall, I really don't have a clue.  It has nothing to do with your group pulling all and killing all four groups of skeletons.  I do know that, as my group killed all four groups without a single other person even within sight of us.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Solution---Drag pull.  Ok, here is the trick, and it requires patience.  Kill all 4 groups around a stick.  As you are killing the last group, have EVERYONE except a puller flee to a spot that is out of the LOS of the stick.  Yes, you heard right, pull back away from the stick to a safe pull spot.  NO ONE ELSE SHOULD DO SQUAT except the puller.  After the acolytes spawn, have the puller run into the acolytes and agro pull them and drag them back to your group.  Now kill them, rinse, repeat.  I have no clue why it works but it does.</DIV>

<DIV>My experience is from doing foci on the ruins side of the river; the three foci closest to the ruins at that.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There was one person in my group who suggested waiting until the acolytes had finsihed conjuring their pets, they had apparently heard it helped alleviate the bugged/locked acolyte issue.  In each group one acolyte seemed to conujure a pet and we did not engage them until we saw the pet up (only takes a few seconds).  I have no idea if this helped at all, but any little thing could be useful I suppose.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Nnathos on <span class=date_text>11-29-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:50 PM</span>

I for one think that the kill tasks for the rare-ish spawns is more annoying than fun.  I know the Very Light Armor had doozies (ugh steppe beetles) and the highland huntresses aren't exactly in great supply.  Looking back, I would have preferred the armor quest tasks involve something hard to accomplish, not just an exercise in patience.  If you have to dungeon crawl somewhere difficult, at least that is a good incentive to do it (ie, the reward for the feeling of accomplishment).  Running around for a few hours waiting for things to spawn isn't exactly exciting /srhug.

<DIV>Things to do on the Acolytes until they get fixed (nothing has been confirmed ... just things to try):</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1)  Wait until one of them summons a pet as already mentioned</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2)  Nobody in your group use an AE spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3)  Cross your fingers</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Doing these things may help keeping the encounter from breaking.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You have to clear all the spawns (usually 4 spawns) of Restless Caltorsites before the first set you killed respawns.  If all the spawns are dead at the same time the Acolytes will spawn.  If there is a Distressed Merchant at the Foci Pole then the Acolytes will not spawn.  Clearing the Restless will usually clear the Merchant, but the Merchant stays there for a little while and you can actually use them as a vendor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope that helps and good luck.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I finally finished the acolyte leg of the quest. I'd like to post a few notes on my experiences:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- If you break encounters with the camps surrounding the foci so run through them more quickly, the acolytes will not spawn.  However, this might not be true if you do so with all but the last camp -- we didn't try that.  Cleared all camps around three foci by pulling all the camps around that foci and /yelling for each one the going crazy with AoE attacks.  Cleared the camps great but no acolytes.  So we did it the old fashioned way with one camp at a time and no /yell, worked fine.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- We did not need to be out of LOS of the foci.  As soon as the last camp was dead the acolytes spawned instantly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- We never had the acolytes break encounter on us, but we always waited for the pet to spawn.  I am pretty sure my Paladin friend used his AoE attacks on the acolytes without problem.  I've seen suggestions to kill the summoner acolyte last but this didn't seem to be necessary.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- If there is a distressed merchant by the foci, clearing the camps will let you buy from them but no acolytes will pop.  Shortly after this though, the merchant will leave, a new foci will spawn and you can get a pop.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- After you wipe out the acolytes the foci will typically disappear.  You could wait for it to reappear then wipe out the camps again, but I'd move to the next foci nearby instead.  All of the foci seem to work fine for getting acolytes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In summary, the only things I'd be sure to do/not do are:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Don't /yell in any of the encounters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Resist the urge to pull all the camps at once, try to do one at a time, in any order.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Don't attack the acolytes until the pet pops.</DIV>

<DIV>all great advice, but I to am doing this quest, well have been trying to complete the 2nd part for 6 days now. Can't find a group to give me a hand on AB server. not very many people want to kill greys and greens. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've gotten 5 out of 20 acoltes. to get those all we did was split up the 4 groups. me 21 mystic and 19 fighter took 2 groups, and the 20 warden  and 20 serker took others. wasn't that hard and didn't seem to make a difference.  I was told by one of the melee in group that we had to taunt the plaguebringers otherwise the encounter would break. she found that out when she helped a guildmate. So she did and we killed them preaty easy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The biggest problem I'm having is even getting 4 to 5 people to help.</DIV>

<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yesterdays patch changed the way the plaguebringers part of AQ2 works. Now after you clear the pole 3-4 groups of plaguebringers spawns. The first group was the same as before. They are grey to a lvl 22. But the next groups are green to a lvl 22 and have a  ^^ group leader. Its much much better! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some things to note. </DIV> <DIV>The extra groups have pets also and dont give credit without them. Since they are higher level be sure and back away some and give them time to cast pet. We lost credit on the first  "extra" group because we didnt back away and didnt expect them to spawn.  We had a lvl 22 warrior and they agroed us because of higher lvl. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You may get enough plaguebringers after one clearing now or two times at the most. Not sure of the exact count as we lost one group but our mystic had a few already. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It may be that they keeping spawning as long as you need them because the last group finished our mystic's quest  ??</DIV>
