I have a lvl 69 fury and i actually went down my Int and Sta line to increase my Heal and Dmg crit. This means i need a Hammer in primary slot to use one of the abilities and a tome in seconary though most of the time i use a 2h. my recommendation for lower lvl furies is a 1h with a shield or tome as often it is more benificial. Shield is great for pvp but pve tombs are often better as u usually arent supposed to be gettin hit therefore do not need the extra Defense and also tombs usally have higher stats.Soz for any errors gramatic and such this post was written when i was very tired lol.Hathor

Message Edited by JSBugs on 10-29-2006 10:42 PM

depends on what you are doing. Soloing I would go with the shield and 1hander. In a group where you are not tanking I would suggest 1hander + symbol for the extra stats that it would provide you. 2handers do put out more damage but IMO we do better with our nukes. Othere healer classes(other than druids) got their mellee damage upgraded so a 2hander is often a very good weapon for a dps shaman or cleric.

almost a month ago i pickd up tarinax's spine, and im going 2 hander staff ever since.......the heal crit % from shape[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ft adds up, and in the right grp u can get it around 50% :smileysurprised:

the only time i dont use the 2h is if i need more regen and or better resists (wich i cover with the symbol/buckler)

On the whole you gte more power/wis from using a weapon/sheild than a 2H... I rarely use a 2H weapon the additional damage you gain from it is not really worth the sacrifice of having the healer (yourself) go down... not found a betetr combination that my sword/ward + shield combination.

I've one handed and shielded most of the 70 lvl's I only recently tried a 2handed weapon purely because of the stats. I like the +48 Int and +48 Wis to help with damage and resists in Raid zones.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=17&message.id=14811&page=1 shows my gear and others.

I have most of the best 2 handers out there for a Fury: Sledge of Smashing and Pride's Edge to name a couple. They certainly do more damgage, but with our cast times and the amount we DO cast, that is not a big concern. I stick with either A) A one hander + Living Breath or B) 1 hander + Buckler if the Winged from Xux's Roost. I have noticed that no matter what, the stats you lose from equipping a 2 hander will actually hurt your overall heal/damage output. I have both my heal/nuke crits maxed, and I do damage just fine even though my weapon is usually always secondary, and losing the protection on the sheild can really bite you in the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn].

So imo, I would stick with the 1 handers, until SoE gives us a 2 hander worth using.

I use a 2 hand staff for ghetto root. The reason why? Well I can use it in pvp to root runners(can use on the move nice) or root people attacking me and run like hell. In pve I AE DD mob or mobs, they run in I root them jump back RoF move in until they start taking damage and dot or heal or whatever the situation is. Works real well for me. Depending on what I'm fighting this is enough to kill most but if not Root is back up in 1 min so just repeat. Works well for me and have used this method quiet a bit.

Why not use a 1handed staff? that way you will also get benefit from the protection of a buckler.

Or even a round shield... I've found a couple priests can use and they are double the protection value.

Yeah i have a decent trasured shield that gives me 666Mit about double the legendary one I use in Raids. I use the treasured one for soloing to give me that little bit more protection. I'll post a pic of it soonest.

Message Edited by CodeKiller on 10-31-2006 04:46 PM

Ahhh, bulwark of the brave I found a similar one last night.. 30 less protection (636) but comes with +23 wisdom as well. My avoid didn't chance in solo mode (still 40.7%), but the additional power it gives well worth it, It droped in vaults BTW.(Incidentlaly along with the wis it also gives +power... unlike bulwark)

Message Edited by boli on 10-31-2006 04:35 PM

can we use all round shields or only certain ones? For some reason I was thinking we were limited to bucklers. Show how little I know Theo

i usually have 2 symbols unless im solo'in or duo'in, then i got my shield. id rather have the stats & procs (claymore & fitzpitzle) than a shield when in raids or regular groups. i also usually have a sword in my primary. my favorite at the moment is the legendary one from nizara with the dmg proc. when i need regen for long fights, ill pop on my prizzy 2. otherwise it's usually my sword, claymore & fitzpitzle

Even if it was and available to the Qeynos side I don't think I would be willing to give up my Masters for it.Anyways doesn't protection decrease(not visiably under inspect but the avoidance bonus it gives you) as you go up levels though? (especially 15 levels off the cap)... As I pointed out above those shields I have give me the same overall avoidance even though one gives +8.4% block and the other +8.5% block

TehDrunkenFury

PvP servers only. As for qeynos side, I'm sure they have an equivlant. And no, my previous shield I was using was the one that drops in vaults(?) Like 394 protection? (I haven't played in weeks) It was giving me roughly 4.5%ish protection, the shield I posted above gives me around 8 point somethingish. Like i said, don't really play much. But from the protection the two give, it looks as if the level required difference has no impact, if any, very very minimal.

SpritRaja

Not sure about level on a shield making a difference. But in the mitigation complaint thread about item levels making a difference it was also stated that quality of item (treasured, MC, legendary, fabled) also seems to make a huge difference. A fabled armor piece with slightly lower mit value than a legendary armor piece will still do more %.

So if protection is handled the same way the fact that that shield is fabled should balance out the level. Specially considering it is getting compared to treasured round shields.

Infact if someone wants to test it compare the % values of same level shields. fabled buckler <> treasured roundshield and see if there is actually a large difference in the block%.

The Fabled only seems to give 6.5 avoidance... the two treasuere ones were giving 8.4% and 8.5% unless the avoidance was altered another way.
