<DIV>the servers are down for an update :smileytongue: so i can't check right now</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>does the description of the text for our roots/slows say they don't work on epic mobs?...is it true in every case...i'm finding that on *some* epic mobs, I don't get the "target too powerful" message and the root animation appears</DIV>

<DIV>Do our roots count as a 'root'...like the mage's root?   I have noticed that our roots slow the mob quite a bit, and mess up their agility, but not that they immobilize them completely (as one would expect a mage's root to do)  and not allow the target to cast or damage.</DIV> <DIV><BR>I have Seizing Vines and Undergrowth both in Master I, too....my tank still takes damage with the target under the influence of same...but greatly reduced.  This is why I think maybe ours don't count as 'a root'.   I'd count them more in line with Scout's snares and Mystic's slowing...?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Roots will not affect epics, or atleast should not, though some members of the epic encounter may not really be epic.  I have not done enough testing on this to know for sure, but mainly wanted to address Arielle's questions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our roots do actually root, and they root pretty well against less than epic encounters.  When they break they also have a 6 second snare that stacks with our druid snare, for a very slow crawl.  I think what you are seeing is that it is either resisting the root, and only the snare is taking affect or you were able to root but it broke shortly thereafter.  There is a different icon in the maintained window for when the root is active vs when the snare portion is in effect.  That information along with the recast time of the spell can be used to determin what exactly happened.  If the recast time is halved, then it was resisted completely, but if it has a full recast time, and the slow icon is up, then the spell landed and then broke right away.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now the roots do not directly slow the mob attack speed, but Undergrowth with the agility debuff may cause them to hit less.  Generally I have found rooting the mob while already in melee range will not affect anything (unless everyone moves away), except in cases where you might expect a mage to draw aggro, rooting them in melee range with the tank makes for less dead finger wigglers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Treat it like a mage root, but it seems to have less of a chance to break on damage, in turn it has a chance to simply break on its own, though that chance is small as well.  You can use our roots to pretend you are a mini wizzie, and root and nuke away.  I have done this on many occasion, and even duoed heroics with a wizzie using my root and his nuke.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It has been my observation, though not conclusive, that undergrowth and seizing vines do not exactly stack.  If you have both up and one runs out, the duration of the other will kick in, but if you have both up and one breaks, the mob will begin to move, even though you will still see the root icon up on your maintained spells, along with the snare portion of the first root.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this helps a bit.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Spagma on <span class=date_text>11-30-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:35 PM</span>
