I've dueled quite a bit at this point and was wondering how you guys were doing? I haven't been able to beat a Fury yet. They seem the hardest so far. I have killed a guardian, a swashbuckler, a conjurer, and a monk. A pally and I had several 10 minute + fights and I ended up losing basically because he has better gear. He has GEB and SM and I do not. It came down to power. I actually got him unconscious once but someone healed him. :smileymad: Anyways, just curious to hear everyone else's experiences. I'm level 50 and almost all of my fights were with level 50 players. Think the swashy was lvl 48.

Message Edited by arielelf on 09-14-2005 08:27 PM

Message Edited by arielelf on 09-14-2005 08:29 PM

wait until u fight scouts, u r going to get owned, we can't see through their invis and the can kick ppl silly when they are invised. Also they can recast during combat, so I say they are pretty good atm. Caster I can resist their nukes, but scouts just beat you silly.

Hey,

I fighted vs every class now, each class I play against are just getting owned by warden. But there are a few class that are a real challenge, Necromancer, Warlock, Coercer, Brigand and Paladin are very hard fights. For the fighter classes, make sure that your duststorm is up before the fight, it own every fighter/scout class, except the paladin cause his uber heals, which are way overpowered in my opinion.

The mage classes I mentioned above are just a pain in the *ss, Warlock is possible when you melee him non stop and cure the Nil Distortion, Necro is amazing heavy fight and won it onnly twice from the 5 tries, and coercer.... he mezz you, and mezz you and mezz you... sometimes it resist, that's your time to heal yourself and cast frostbite, also run to the coercer when you're unmezzed, if you don't resist any of the resist... bye bye :smileyhappy:

I believe a swashy is a scout. :smileyhappy: I did get owned by a ranger though. So yall have taken out Furies with no problems as well? You guys believe we can take anyone with practice basically? I have no fabled gear, no GEB, no prismatic, no SM. I think these things make a noticible difference. I'm just your regular ole warden. hehe.

Necros are the new "in" class imo. I stopped playing my warden to play my necro in order to take advantage of the free xp week bonus, and I scarcely know where to begin. If you like soloing, necro is an amazing choice right now, and I don't want to clutter with my thoughts on the reason why (but feel free to ask me separately in a pm). As for duelling vs a necro, wardens arent the only ones having problems. One of our guild leaders is a necro and he has defeated almost every single challenger of every class. He spends all day asking ppl to challenge him, but we are now smarter lol.

I don't really like to duel, but I did duel my husband this morning. He's a guardian, and we had both dinged 51, so we figured we'd try it out before we went to bed. We are pretty evenly matched in gear, both with some fabled, T5 rare, and such. He got in a lot of interrupts, and if going around in circles could make my character dizzy, he'd probably have won. LOL If I duel any of my guildmates, I'll post about that. We have a defiler, necro, troub, assa, dirge we regularly group with that I wouldn't mind dueling. I just don't like dueling outside of friends/guildmates. It would be interesting to try against another warden, though. I may try that later this week.

So, has any warden ever defeated a ranger (same level, of course). And what strategy did you use? :smileyhappy:

I'm 55 now, and the 54 ranger in my guild completely destroyed me. That ranged damage is simply *far* too high, and unlike the other fighter-types Duststorm is ineffective.

I lasted about 5 secs against a ranger. He stunned me and then stepped back and used me for a pincushion. Was ugly ugly. Lol How about Warden vs Warden? Just gotta get lucky in that fight I think because we are so evenly matched.

Warden vs Warden is a test of who falls asleep at the keyboard first. You just can't kill each other unless there's a serious level or gear mismatch. I destroyed a warlock and wizard last night, though. Was pretty funny. The warlock got me down to 20% at one point because I was too busy nuking to bother healing myself, but once I dropped SW/VR/WG on myself I was back at full and could continue my rain of nuke destruction. Out-nuking casters is funny.

Yeah, healer vs healer is totally nuts. I dueled a templar and spent an hour chasing her around the ring because she knows she can't beat my damage shield and melee. And she resists my root a lot, so it was hard to kill her. I also resist her spells so she couldn't kill me lol. I suppose in retrospect I could have tried nuking her to death, but I didn't want to run the risk of my mana running out before hers, since I bet her heals are more mana efficient than my nukes.

We called it quits after an hour or so. I was at 95% hp/mana, she was at 90% hp/mana.

Lol! Sounds like my fight with the Warden. I just conceeded after a while. We couldn't even really hurt each other. She had better gear though so she had me on the ropes power wise.

I've dueled pally troub warlock wizzy coercer so far... pally was just screwin' around and not really tryin', troub claimed I only won cuz I happened to be grped with a coercer at the time and was getting too big a benefit from resist buffs (the duels with the wizzy and coercer kinda make me doubt that's the case though), the wizzy could not beat me no matter how hard he tried heh he'd get me almost dead and then I'd resist too much for the killing blow, corecer had same issue as wizzy except he couldn't get me down at all really since I'd just cure every dot he threw on me. The warlock was the only one who beat me but he only just barely managed it, so I prolly just need some practice or something for him.

I posted this in another thread, but I am pretty much unbeaten. I've only lost one duel out of thirteen, but I promptly re-dueled the guy and beat him down. I underestimated a necro's shadowy assassin pet the first time and tried rooting to keep it away. Used duststorm the next time and it was game over for necro. I've beaten Guardian, Swashbuckler, Wizard, Necro, Illusionist, Monk. The Guardian was lvl 50 and I was 46 at the time. I used duststorm and he hated it. =) So did the swashy. Fought him like three times. Once by rooting and nuking. Once with duststorm and once just nuking and healing. Wardens are very powerful in pvp. For healer vs. healer, you need a screaming mace or a right clicky wand to do direct damage while saving power for heals. Manastone is also very helpful.

Oh, coolness! If you ever try a ranger and beat him, could you please post here?

Yeah cures - is nice.

I actually killed a ranger on launch day - but the next day he knew his toon better, and i got wacked everytime since then (and fast i might add).

The best hints i can give is

Stay in melee if u can - dont let him use his bow (duststorm is a no go, against rangers)

Cure his slows

Use your root spells (actually im not sure how effective this is, they seem to wear off fast)

If u can avoid his high damage ones and dont die fast (wich u prob. can't ) - just stay healed and DOT, nuke and melee him down

This is not a stategi thats works, since i die very fast everytime - LOL, but maybe someone can give better hints, so that we one day will beat them

Message Edited by HVA on 09-21-2005 07:17 AM

Warden is definitvly a support class in PVP, not a good dueler. I did many tests : Any skilled player (and class) with Stun/Stiffle/KB kills us very fastly.
Message Edited by Zelya on 09-21-2005 05:56 PM

Odd. I only have trouble with a scout when the occational assassin gets off assassinate. Other then that, they are cake =). Maybe I do something different, or am better equiped?

I dueled my Monk partner...and got owned 4 out of 5 times (but he had a 3 hour head start on relearning his class). You have to knock them back, root them and start slamming them really fast. If they open with the stifle, you are behind the curve and have to scramble to heal because you are interrupted so much.

That said, I'm kind of queasy about fighting a loved one. Even those that I don't like, I'd rather just ignore than kill. PvP must be for other people. Heck the way things are going...this whole GAME may be for other people. /sigh.

Trying unsuccessfully not to whine,

Aye, I have fought and killed several rangers. As long as I get off my three heals in the beginning and start the nuking after that I seem to do fine...as for their range attacks, root owns =).
