I recently noticed that the amount of wis owned was raising a bit more my power pool. Some LU before, I was using the Djinn Musicbox and Samirah Mirror which both added each 5 wis and 25 power instead of 2 wis hex doll +14 wis because they were giving more power than the last. Now the doll seems to give more power. I though at first that was because of my soft cap reaching 400+ wis, but I tried several combination at several tiers (300, 200, 100), and the results are still the same.Anyone else has been experiencing this? Does that mean you need now to go full +wis gear instead of +power gear if you want more power?

Would love to hear an answer as well. I'm nowhere near cap, but I have seen the attributes and calculations for WIS rise or fall over multiple LUs. Wish they would just stick to one math and leave it.

BTW, what is the cap for WIS atm?

Update:

After some more searching on forums, found that the soft cap "sorta" exists.

This is what I found on EQ2 Forums: (level * 7) + 20 = Cap of stat
ex. Level 70 * 7 + 20 = 510

Further defined, the more points given over 510 does produce "diminishing returns". Ex. If 1 STA point = 8 HP before 510, after 510 it may only equal 4 HP (example only, no proof of those numbers). The point still gives something in return, just not as another area that is below the cap would.

I do see hard caps in other areas tho:
Dodge
Parry
Block
Mitigation
Haste
Movement Speed

Other areas than these will see increases per point, but those probably will not (I think). The key is to max out the areas you use most, then go for others. Going above and beyond will only keep providing returns where mobs hit you with a skill/spell that reduces stats. In that case, even if your stats were reduced, your skills could still be maxed if you were over the initial caps anyways.

If that all makes sense. Sorta makes my head hurt

510 has always been the softcap since the expansion hit. What might have changed is the formula for determining power. Those are 2 seperate things, though somewhat related.

As for the other hardcapped items you mentioned, you need to be careful.

Things like resists and mitigation are only pseudo hardcapped. There is still benefit to having points beyond the cap.

For instance around 5800 in a resist at level 70 it will say you are capped at 80% mitigation. However, that is only for an even con mob. Against a yellow con, you will still get benefit from points above that. The same works for physical mitigation as well.

Beyond that, with debuffs and things you will face in your battles, its good to have points in excess of the cap, by at least what you can expect coming from a debuff from a mob.

I had forgot about those other issues when conning yellow and red mobs, good point.
