I’m wondering where to take my AAs from here on out. I’m level 51 and have spent my 44 AAs that I have right now.

I spend a lot of time soloing with the tank pet so I’m focusing on that.

I also like to group and I use the scout pet almost entirely. But I’m not as focused on maximizing the scout pet right now because folks rarely care. I really like the ability to be a backup healer and I can use it to heal my pet as well. But I do want to avoid becoming too overbalanced in the solo area to the exclusion of the scout pet. I don’t plan on focusing on the Mage pet at all. I’ll probably never be a hardcore raider and if I do I’ll respec.

Right now I have:

Summoner Tree:

WIS 4, 8, 2

STR 4, 4, 4, 8

Necro tree:

Necrotic Mending (Pacts) 5, 4

For the near future I’m thinking of

adding 6 more to WIS to increase pet defense

also STA 4, 8

and Necro tree:

Enhance Warrior Pet =5

and probably enhance Scout Pet at some date

then later I’ll think about whether to go down manipulations for Tainted Heals

or Rotting for Lifeburn

Any suggestions about which routes to take and especially which to do first would be greatly appreciated.

I personally think lifeburn should be the first goal of any AA path. The spells in that line are useful regardless of whether you solo, group or raid. After that, if you mostly solo I would spend the next 5 points in enhance:warrior pet and then the next 21 in manipulations to get tainted heals. Not only would that line improve your root, fear, and debuffs, it gives them all a 13% heal on your pet. I know that lifeburn is the flashy pick but tainted heals is equally good. That takes you to 47AA on Necro side. Spend the last three as you see fit. On the Summoner side, if you solo you'll definitely want shockwave, for the additional stun - if a mob ain't hitting, it ain't hurting. The final ability in that line isn't worth the points you'd need to invest, imho. I found it only absorbed like 3 hits total before the power pool was depleted. I also personally think that the crit chance AA isn't worth the 20 points you need to max it out - a ~13% chance of doing 1.3x damage isn't that impressive. The animated dagger AA is atrocious (~12 DPS while the summon is out), the +STR is not necessary, and the parry skill isn't very useful for a PC who will be 3-shotted by most high end monsters. If I were a soloer primarily, I would go 4-8-8-8 in STA, and 4-5-6-6 in WIS. This would allow your pet to have an extra stun, would allow it to absorb damage from you when it lost aggro, and would siphon 8% of your hate accumulated to it. It would also give you an extra heal in case you were hurt, and would help to offset some of the stance penalties.

It depends on your play style. Sure your plan for WIS line is pretty much a universal standard. STR line is nice for the crits but not essential. Rotting line is much more consistent dmg so I think you are better off there unless you really want the Implode. Tainted heals is very nice. Personally, I am working towards the ooze pet. If it gets blown up by an AOE it has a very fast resummoning time. I would only use it on raids though. I tend to solo a lot so I put more pts into my pet abilities and heals. Also, when raiding with my guild I often end up as back up healer. Necro's fill that role nicely.

Ooze crawler doesnt have a fast summoning time anymore sadly. 7 secs with the reuction AA or 10 secs as standard.

lifeburn should be the way for any necro and ooze crawler is extremely situational... I doubt I would ever use it in a group unless I was grouping an X2 mob.

Lifeburn is useful to you no matter what the playstyle, IMO.
