At the end of Echoes of Faydwer beta, it was a Primary pet. Meaning you could not use it and your other pets at the same time.

<DIV>I was hoping that was the case Xalmat, thanks for the info. (If it were a 'secondary' pet, it would probably have very low HP and be yet another Summoner AOE absorber.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That brings to mind another question, does the Hydromancer pet attack in any form? (spell, autoattack, CA's) If the Hydromancer pet has no attacks at all, it would make EV & BP useless when it was in use. (I could still see it's use in a group where healing was needed, or even possibly in the MT group on a raid <using the bubble AA> )</DIV>

It heals, it does no damage at all.Honestly, the only use I see for it is in a group late at night doing trivial content when a Healer isn't available.<div></div>

<DIV> <DIV>It casts a few spells. 4 I think. A heal, a regen, a ward and a AOE bubble thing. Bubble may be useful. I need to do some more testing. Not sure if it is group only yet or raid wide.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It is a primary pet (it CAN be possesed) so say goodbye to most of your DPS. It DOES NOT attack. 0 DPS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It will heal out of group which is nice but you have no control over who and when it heals. Doesn't heal for big numbers. Can very easily get out healed by a fury. Which is fine but with the amount of DPS we lose it kinda blows.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It will take buffs but really have no use for them (HP buffs may keep it alive a bit longer). EV and BP are pointless as it will not attack. No need to be in the MT group as far as I can see as i said it will heal outside of group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IF it was a secondary pet it may be worth it. I am sure it is meant to do more than it does atm and quite possibly be a secondary pet, but no one seems to be able to confirm that for me. Sadly, currently very dissapointing for 21 AA's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not a great choice atm.</DIV></DIV><p>Message Edited by Megic on <span class=date_text>11-22-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:11 PM</span>

I've had the hydromancer for about a week now, and I love it. It is a great pet if you are looking at your class as a utility/support role and not a dps. My main group consists of a 70 Pal, 60 Mystic, and myself 62 Conj. Sometimes add in another random guildy or three. For the three of us, if we are fighting anything 70^^^, the hydromancer is out. It's heals are as good as the mystic, and the ward allows the mystic to do more of a debuffing role while warding. Obviously in this situation, my DPS is crap, but it helps the group more than my other pets.<div></div>

well if it is that good I hope they make it so. Cause right now it sucks.<div></div>
My wife plays a wiz, and I was wondering how a hydromancer would do in duo pvp with just us 2. Is it worth it, or are the heals too slow? Right now I'm going for abate, but if the Hydromancer pet will keep us up a bit longer in pvp, I'll definitely consider it....I'm not looking to fight full groups, just those duos or trios that always seem to be at the high end of the pvp range for the zone when they attack us.<div></div>

<P>The heals are only a small part of it's abilities. It intercepts damage like there is no tomorrow (chat window is spammed with intercept messages). I have tried to test it soloing, but I can't figure out how much damage it is actually intercepting. The parses show strange results. It showed that with the hydro pet, the number of swings delivered by a mob were roughly tripled, but the damage per blow was reduced by 1/3 roughly. Maybe it is somehow disecting each blow into 3 parts? This would be significant if reactive heals were also being used.</P> <P>Can anyone else confirm these results? Any else have a parse to share?</P> <P>I agree that it seems to have the most significant impact on high end raids. I don't think there is much risk of it being nerfed because it reduces our dps to be comparable to a healer.</P><p>Message Edited by Kerlin on <span class=date_text>12-19-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:20 AM</span>

I'm not sure how relevant this case study is but last night. My level 35 conjuror got the Hydromancer pet.I ran a test where I fought a level 35 even no arrow mob and a level 37^ mob in the Enchanted lands. My conji is just using a level 20 dagger and has app4 to master 1 spells (most are adept I's) the rest of my equipment is quested and is not by far optimized or twinked. Some of my equipment is still level 14ish. However a few of my cloth item pieces are 34ish that I got from quests in the EL. When I fought the mobs I didn't use Root I just straight up tanked the mob and let my hydromancer do his thing.I was able to kill the 35 even mob with about 85% health left and I died to the 37^ when the mob had about 10% life left. <div></div>

<DIV>I think, for the most part, the people that think this pet sucks or is not a good choice might be looking at it from the perspective that you have have it out most of the time, but thats not the case! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I love the hydromancer, and here's why: </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For all of my life as a conj I was always jealous of the necro's ability to help the group when things got bad, i.e. when tanks lost aggro, or when the healer was about to go down. The necro could always spot heal, and their caster pet has minor heals as well to help a troubled group, while the conj just had to sit there and pray that the aggro didn't come to them next.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now the other day I was in Nest, and our tank pulled too many mobs and things looked grim, but it was fine because I had an ace up my sleeve. By putting 5 points in enhance summoning, the hydromancer has a whoping 2.5 second cast time, so I sacrificed the caster pet (1,600 hp insta-heal with 550 power heal) which helps enough, but then 2 seconds later shes out and healing, warding, and making the group immune to AEs. Which is not so great as a primary healer, and with the lack of dps makes us her suck if we use her all the time, but man can she save a group! she helps the tank regain aggro by dropping everyone elses and then when things are in hand again, you can bring your caster back out, and at this point it only takes 7 seconds instead of 10.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IMO the hydromancer just made conjurers 10x more useful in every setting other than solo, which is something we REALLY needed. Necro has always had alot of "uh oh the groups in trouble, but dut na na na! never fear the necro is here!" spells, such as their heal, and rez, and if the group drops they can FD and then get back up and rez, while conj had absolutely nothing other than a decent resist buff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Embrace the hydromancer people, I know if I grouped using my alt swashie and their was a conj, they had better save our behind when things got tough.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Well I have master I plane shift and maxed out the plane shift AA so for one more point she is a bargain. I use her a lot in groups that have plenty of dps and low healing power. She has a ward a group heal she spams and and decreases hate for everyone but fighters. Another plus for a DPS group allowing them to open up more.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any how she is worth it in my opinion and as long as I have PS aa I will have her.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Riz</DIV>

<P>I agree with Millface1, that it's utility has been more useful to a group when things start to go wrong. It's great to be able to expiate your dps/mage pet and whip out this little beauty at short notice.</P> <P>One thing I've noticed that is if I put her into an Offensive Stance, target the tank and then use the /petattack button, she starts spamming her heals and using up her power like no tomorrow. Leaving her in /petbackoff mode doesn't seem to cause her to use much power. The nice thing about draining the power is that in a long fight you can either expiate her again and resummon to give her full power again or, if the fight is back under control, bring up the dps/mage pet and help burn down the target.</P> <P>The Hydromancer is a great saver...I've used her in groups and raids in the main tank group to good effect. I'm not worried about parsing high dps, I want the raid to succeed and help my guildmates.</P>

<DIV>Does anyone know if the hydromancer only gets certain spells at certain levels?</DIV> <DIV><BR>I noticed at 33, it only had the two heals (single target and AOE) when I possessed it, I didn't see either the ward or AOE immunity.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also: Does the damage intercept only work on the conjurer, or should I be seeing it for other group members? I'm not sure if it's self only, or a result of mentoring and casting the pet at level 24</DIV>

Oh, another nice feature with the Hydromancer pet. It's group heal and ward also works on your swarm pets. Very useful if the mob can put out an AE dot or 360 combat attack.

I finally was able to use the hydromancer in a raid setting today, vs. Lord Vyemm in Labs. It was a HUGE help! First, once you expiate your dps pet, the whole group gets huge power and health, which is very useful after a big AE is used and the whole group is orange or yellow... but then out comes the hydromancer, who not only spams heals unto the ENTIRE group, but also grants AE immunity, between expiate and the hydromancer I was able to do something much more useful than the extra dps, I was able to keep our healers powered and going, seeing as they no longer had to worry about the individuals in the group every fifteen seconds when he lets out his knockback AE. the hydromancer was just one of many new strategies we used today to finally be able to take out Vyemm, but its definitely a must have for EVERY conjurer, IMO a Conj without a hydromancer is like a Bard without power regen, it should be something groups use and lean on as often as possible, because it DOES work! <div></div>

Yes, you can change where the pet stuff goes. I have all my pet stuff going into a pet window out of my way. As for the Hydromancer, I'm now undeafeated in duels with guildmates when I have the Siren out. I've been in a few groups with her, and it's amazing what she does for us. Until they nerf her, she's amazing and I love her a lot <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Wards, Cures, Heals, Dmg Interception, and some buffs too. <div></div>

<div></div>Hey guys,I want to thank all of you who participated in this thread. Because of it, and the enthusiasm you all showed, I went ahead and respecced yesterday to get the Hydromancer pet. I had heard it was broken for so long, that I just gave up on it. But it seems to be working right now. Anyway, once I had it, I immediately set out to examine it further to see just what exactly it's capable of. So I Possessed Minion and then brought up her Persona window to see her stats, and then examined all 4 of her spells. (yes, she only has 4 spells she casts, as opposed to our primary pets that get 6. and 3 out of her 4 spells are blue AoE spells).Anyway, here's the screenshot I took. It's important to notice a few things that are worrisome here. <img src="http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net/images/eq2/hydromancer.jpg">1. Why do all her spells show up as Apprentice 1? The description says something like she upgrades as you upgrade in level. That makes sense to me, yes, but then why would her spells still be considered Apprentice 1?2. I originally took a screenshot of her in Qeynos Harbor, with the only INT group buff she was recieving being my Sol Ro imp. So a +28 boost to her INT. But then, later that day I had a Fury in the group, and he buffed his me with his INT group buf, hence raising her INT about 96 pts higher. But this didn't seem to increase her spells at all. They remained where they were when I possessed her earlier that day.So I'm wondering if, b/c she's primarily a healer class, if WIS group buffs would enhance her heals and group wards instead of INT.Can someone test this? We'd need to get grouped with a class that buffs WIS to test it.<div></div>

<DIV>At this time, boosting WIS don't boost the power of healing spells, only power pool for Priests. Unless you group with a class that has some form of +heal AoE spell or achievement, her healing spells will stay just as they are.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, her spells are probably apprentice1 because we can only purchase 1 rank of the ability at this time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the screenshot, very interesting.</DIV>

<P>Was noticing the post made where the screenshots of the Hydromancer's spells are. One that I see missing is Regenerating Waters. I notice that the spam I see in group (out of combat) say "Stupid's Regerating Waters heals <everyone damaged> for 77 points."</P> <P>The amount of damage healed varies it seems (at level 42) from 72 to 77ish. I'll see a critical heal occasionally, but it shows the same amount of damaged healed, not double.</P> <P> One thing that isn't specified about the hydromancer either is it's Dodge skill. I will see that bugger dodge, duck, and weave like a featherweight. We had mentored down to take the Lich in RoV, and I had this guy out. The whole time we were fighting, I noticed his power going down and down and down... thought wow, we're taking some hits! No, we weren't- HE was. Someone running down had trained the whole Book of Death room onto him, and he had been tanking all the books the whole time we were fighting AND he was still pitching in with heals on the MT! <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P> <P> Gotta love the hydromancer!</P> <P> </P> <P> Arun</P>

<P>I had this pet out the other night in Lyceum... did they nerf it? Had to move me to the MT group (for testing) to even get it to heal the MT or anyone that wasn't in my group. Plus, it didn't do very much healing. Didn't seem to be working hardly at all.</P> <P> </P> <P>Needless to say I was very dissapointed and respected as soon as the raid was over. Can someone that has been using this pet check to see if it is still working properly?</P>

Tested in a non-raid environment as of yesterday, as a conjurer 40 who has had the hydromancer since level 20. No change in the behavior. I don't see why it would work its heals on anyone else but those in your group anywise. I believe its' regenerating waters inherent works on a general AOE basis, not group nor encounter linked, as I have stood next to someone having a hard fight and watched it passively regen them. Maybe if you can stand next to the main-tank group?... and it is a great pet. Very useful to stop wipes as it intercepts, wards, regens, single-heals and group-heals. Utility and wipe-protection. Gotta love it.<div></div>

See the screenshots below. Since a group can only be 6 people I would assume that means that the one that states Max AOE targets: 8 means it will heal out of group. Besides, a<U> lot of posts state that</U>. So, no, I'm not crazy for thinking that.</P> <P>Thanks for pointing out proximity. I'm guessing that that is the issue. Max range on them being between 15 - 50 meters is most likely the issue. Of course, on many raids being that close is not a good idea for a conj.... I'll just go back to having fun and dpsing :smileyhappy:</P> <P>Heck, for kicks and grins... Persona window stats are when I was ungrouped with all of the Conj buffs casted and on pet (all Master I's)</P> <P><IMG src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y47/Rolma/EQ2Pics/HydromancerSpells.jpg"></P> <P><IMG src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y47/Rolma/EQ2Pics/HydromancerPersona.jpg"></P>

<DIV>Yep, just gotta love the Hydromancer.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It has really helped the entire group several times from wipes.</DIV> <DIV>Use a dps pet, group get lots of beatings or healer dies, sacrifice dps pet(Lots of hp/power), summon Hydromancer, let the pet heal, someone rez the healer, we are up and running again. Conjuror saves the day. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a single healer in a group, it doesnt do much, but it can really be good as a secondary healer.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Couple things I can add:</P> <P> </P> <P>Range- yes, the out-of-combat regen does seem to be short range, 10m or so I'm guessing. Was harvesting in TS and saw a monk in an overpull situation. I pulled up beside her to see if the regen would help, and didn't notice her getting healed. I turned around and there was the pet way back behind me standing there. I moved back and pulled the pet closer to her, and it had her back up to full before the last mob fell.</P> <P>Odd behavior (not healing)- was in a group and had the hydro out to help the mystic healing our group. Noticed the pet just standing there not doing a thing- I had not set the pet to BackOff, yet he surely was. I dumped him, recast and he was healing the moment he popped. A bug, most likely I'm thinking.</P> <P>Out of group heals in raids- We were mentored down doing the Cove and had the hydro out since we were healer light that night. Tank was in the other group, and when I assisted and hit Pet Attack, that hydromancer was up in the mob's face healing away while I was back nuking and casting fire-and-forget pets. When the mob is hitting for high damage like that, the pet's damage intercept is even more beneficial than it's heal-spam is.</P> <P> </P> <P> My two cents is- Hydromancer is a great addition to the 'support' arsenal of conjurors. Jack-of-all trades/master-of-none works for me, as long as I can contribute in a ton of different ways. That night, I was dps'ing, tossing splinters like mad, and stretching out the healer's manapools quite noticably. Tell me that isn't support! <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P> <P> Arun</P>

<DIV>I'm curious when the Hydromancer starts intercepting damage for others in the group? So far, the only time I've seen messages is when I'm solo and getting hit. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Or do the intercepts only show up in the combat log for the person getting intercepted?</DIV>

That makes it good when you want to make your pet cool down, for instance when he need to regen power. I dont know if its a bug or what, but if you got those stances on, she will heal fully the player with lowest HP.</P> <P> </P>

<P>The Hydro does intercept damage to others in group, and the messages are in their chat, not yours. It has intercepted on AoEs for me in groups/raid, so it seems to spread its intercepts around. I don't know if it can intercept for multiple people at a similtaneously.</P> <P>My hydro also has changed from a water-man to a water-ball (never got to see a siren).</P>

I love that dam pet lol. Not only does it ward and constantly heal as well as decrease hate which is always a great tool, but it protects u from those aoe's that are so dam deadly in raids. And if that isnt enough it jumps in fromt of u to take most of ur dmg and it can dodge more than a monk/bruiser hybrid. This pet is DEFINATLY worth spending 20 points in conjurations or whatever. Plus ur only bennifiting ur different aoe pets and planer shift by getting the 20 points so its a win win situation.I tested my pet at 55 so the heals must scale with lv. Anyway I took him to the roost to really test his abilities against the names there. Not only was I never hit with any of those aoe's the harpy's rip out but the pet was keeping about half pace with the healer warding over and over and ripping off dotting heal after heal. It saved the both the healer and tanks [Removed for Content] to many times.Havent tryed it in pvp but im guessing it would definatly give the conjurer the edge when fighting a melee class that would have to get through the constand ward and multiple heals as well as the conjurers spells dazing and nocking crap back along with roots. Its not strong enough to be a healer so its not overpowered but its not weak enough to be worthless. Its just awsomely right!<div></div>

I decided to try this pet out and have been pumping AA points into that line as fast as I could. As I read more about it I did begin to doubt how effective it would be, especially when I learned it was a Primary pet and that I would have to give up tanking or damage in order to get it. But last night I got my last point and trained Hydromancer. I love him! The fights last about as long as they did with my tank pet out but I seem to be a lot safer as at the end of the fight I am usually at or near full health whereas a lot of times I would yank aggro from my tank and watch my hp drop damgerously low. Even in 3 on 1 fights I can outlast the mobs. The Hydromancer seems to absorb a ton of damage as well as heal all the time. Needs more testing but I vote Hydromancer.<div></div>

<DIV>Get to level 70, and see if it changes. I got mine at level 70, so i cant confirm if you get a siren at level 70 or not. </DIV> <DIV>I hope so for your sake, cause the bubble isnt cool at all. Just another reuse of the fluff-spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
