Post 40 Coercers... if any are left in the game. Would more mana, or hitpoints make more sense at the post 40 game? I mean our self mana regen is pretty good, and I never run out of mana. Should I choose better mana or health regen? Or how about more total mana or more total health? I believe the choses at 42 were 2.5% more Health or Mana or 5 point improved mana or hitpoint regen. Thoughts?

Depends on what happens in update 7, if we got good nukes, you just might be able to use your mana (would be a new thing)

Otherwise, HP all the way.

Having more mana is like having more int right now, totally useless, since you cant really dent your mana bar.

Yeah personally I went with more hp, by time you have Robe of the Invoker, Golden Efreeti boots and some of the raid mana regen items mana really ceases to be an issue. However getting stabbed in the face is still one I find

Nana

Crushing damage resistance was really good one (lvl 46)... Nor HP nigher Mana play much role - go for more agi, avoidance..

Situation same like it was in EQ1 during PoP time - mobs had so high damage that 2-3 hit would normally kill caster .... As it stands now 2-3 special attack of monster lvl 45+ will kill you anyway so +-100HP dont play much role, extra mana helpfull but not by much, extra avoidance priceless

Level 42 Character Trait does not give you option for Agility. More total hiptoints, more total mana, higher mana regen, or higher health regen.

As I recall I always picked up mana regeneration since its +2.5% to what you have

if you have 10 power /tic it will extra 0.25 power per tic but if you have 200 power per tic you'll get extra 5 power per tic

I went for + HP's or + stamina every chance I got. Its worked out nicely for me so far, which of course means the game mechanics are due to change any time for me and make me regret not having INT.

But like most have said, power is rarely an issue, but running out of life frequently is. Its not always a life saver, but on raids I am usually the last mage standing if something goes wrong.

Basically I was debating myself not beween Int and Sta .... on countary I was debating between Agi and Wis...

Int comes with gear rather easy specially at high lvls - so far soft cap for int 200 - adding any extra above this wont do for you any good at current game mechanic.. Simple fact is - if you have 2 different casters classes with group you always get +92 int boost (46 from one 46 from other)...

Sta and HP as I said game curve reassembling very close what happend in EQ1 ... Upon lvling up monsters attack ratting and damage per hit become so strong that mage simply cannt mitingate em... In other words 3 consequential hits from any lvl 50+ will kill you anyway no matter if you have 3000hp or 3500hp... Avoidance is different thing bumping avoidance as high as you can and you can completely dodge damage... that's why Agi become primary stat for any caster that have chance to draw agro of mobs

Wis is different story - I havent really found any pro or con to prove hipothesis that wis affect resistance rate... It written on the box but noone really know for sure if its true...

Personally I took all agility and mana regen everytime I got the chance and have been happy so far with that decision.

My agility is higher than my int and mobs miss me a few times giving the healer time to heal me

before I drop, time for the tank to get aggro back or use my threat reduction spells, I don't believe that having extra health

would give me the same benefit. Since when they do hit they hit for so much I would say that extra health or health regen

would be pointless though if you also rasied stamina, making health your primary focus you could possibly

make it through an extra hit or so. I personally think that not getting hit last me longer then extra health would.

Also, when your hit, most spells get inturrupted so if you think that being able to cast a spell to lower threat or

mez or what ever then agi would be muich better.

As far as extra int or wis, you have buffs that raise it as well as the high level breezelike spells that also raises int

and wis. I have used items to raise wis more than int for the spell resists which I find better than extra power,

plus I am able to use all the spells I need to during sevral battles and the other members of my group will almost always

run out of power before I do SO, I prefer the faster regen. Generally, I find that at higher levels I spam more dots and dd attacks

and am glad for the extra fast regen of power, but don't run out of power fast enough to justify having more.

I personally took early on Power (Intel) and HP. Later, on I notice Power wasn't a problem. So, I add in Agility and HP. Never can have enough HP. Especially when you are getting whacked out there. I also try to get items that have more AC. Inaddition, I carry around different chest items etc..other items, that may increase certain stats depending on what I am fighting.

Message Edited by PaganLeviathan on 04-02-2005 10:05 AM

I don't think it really matters. I did an experiment today. I looked at my avoidance at 96 agility and it was 51.8% I then respec'd to all agility based Class Traits and replaced some gear and pumped my agility up to 144....Avoidance 55.8% A 4% difference. If a 4% difference is important to you, go all out agility.

Nyco Tine

50 Coercer Permafrost

Retired

Nyco would you post this under spells/abilities as a bug issue and see if this is meant to be?

What does the 5% power regen increase trait exactly affect? Does it affect in and out of combat power regen of all kinds? (from breeze, spells and food) Or does it affect out of combat regen only, or regen from food only...?
