Maybe I suck, but... The damage we deal out, i can barely solo a grey double up...

any suggestions on order of spells i should use? or something, cause this is annoying

also in groups.. I as a coercer seem to be worthless for a group except for mezzing, which people just always break.. im sick of ONLY mezzing, ill cast all my DOT's but it doesnt help much at all.. if at all. All my spells are App IV , except for Gloom and Breeze which are both Adept 1

if someone could give me some Soloing and Grouping advice id appreciate it..

Talk to me like a noob

Soloing in the 20's is actually pretty easy as a coercer. I would start with a rood and lay my dots on the mob then HO and repeat. Use stun every chance you get. There are different soloing strategies and I'm sure someone else will post a different tactic here. The tactics also change with level, so it is a process of discovery.

4. The biggest thing at your level you bring to a group is the haste and breeze buffs. It makes for faster killing and less downtime. Mez can be a real group saver but is situational.

5. When in a group you probably won't have time to realize your dot damage on anything less than a double-up so use nukes. On double ups you will see the full potential of your dots.

Message Edited by Scally Wag on 03-11-2005 04:21 PM

First of all find right prey

a) best choice would be warrior type mob, preferebly animal (all resistances low) - snake in Nek good choice and so is spiders or TS animals

b) learn how Mez-HO kite - its by far margine safest method, your nukes thou still weak (untill lvl 28 then you will have for a breef moment good offense), your root still fast thou.

So if you want to solo "safe" use Mez-HO tactic, if you have good enouth gear and fight warrior type mob (thier special least harmfull) or priest type mob - you can use root-dot-HO tactic

Overall its hardest time for coercer lvl 20-28. I highely recomend stick with grouping. At your lvl best choice would gaints in TS or easy parts of ROV

coercers definetly need to be able to solo better even against solo mobs, my 48sk can solo experience far faster than my 26 coercer even though my sk only gets 0.1% a kill from blue mobs and my coercer gets 0.3-0.4% from blue solo mobs.there is no way a 48 should be able to solo faster than a 26 no matter what class they are.

My coercer is level 23, and I can easily solo the 16^^ and 17^^ greys in Fallen Gate. In fact, they almost never hit me, so I'd be interested in seeing what you're doing.

Thats actually not true

At lvl 50 I can and do solo high grey cons be it named or not - its other question how long it take. With a lot luck I can solo group of green 1 arrow up mobs (thanks to beguile) is charm will not brake encounter (and you need a lot luck for that).

Generally speaking - soloing double up always goes in same pathern (well actually you can use 2 method but...)

First its simple and mindneembling Mez-HO kiting. You pull with Ravage Psyche - Mez - HO - Mez - HO untill mob dead. Our Ego blast been stealth fixed - now instead of "chance" to root mob it "root mob" ... garanty ... if its not resisted and if it is... You simple remez and wait 12 second for Ego Blast refresh timer. Within 1 round of HO you'll do around 1K damage total so go figue how long it take to kill ANY double up

Alternatively if you feel particulary brave or in rush... You can pull high grey (I highely not recomend do this even with lowest greens) con with Agonizing Silence, dot it, nuke it, tank it but refresh Agonizing Silence all the time (16s duration 8s recast). If you get resist on Agonizing, stun, resist debuff and agonize again. If you miss just for a second Silence .... you toast. Is it work? ya. Is it faster then Mez-HO kite ... somethat yes. But do it on your own risk - as I said 1 missing Silence on mob can kill you within 1 round of attack

Soloing at Level 23, just for you.

Go to North Freeport and visit the Temple of War. Talk to Occultist Levonicus and get the city writ "The Unseen Master." Do NOT accept any other writs--just that one.

Go to Nektulos Forest.

As you zone in, take an immediate left (before the bridge) and note all of the Cackling Cadavers. These mobs will not aggro you and are ALL solo.

Find a particularly skelton-y cadaver and target it.

Cast Daunting Gaze

Cast Gloom

Cast Cerebral Spasm

Cast Static Pulse

Start a Heroic Opportunity

Cast your best Nuke (Ego Strike?
Sorry, Tanatus. I'm still a little woozy from the mez/no-mez discussions.

That said, though--I've not had that problem when performing the steps outlined above. NOT EVEN ONCE! Yes, I know--my account is magical. Maybe it's because the stun's worn off before I apply the root? Usually the mob will be just breaking the secondary root from my nuke when Binding Light lands. Of course, since the root breaks 14 milliseconds after I apply it, anyway, it doesn't serve much purpose outside of allowing me to laugh back at the Skelly.

Thanks for bringing it up. That attention to detail is reason #62 in my "Why Tanatus is my Hero" manifest.

Yes excatly for that reason

In order to get teleporting mob you need have 2 spells simutaniously on mob - stun and root (order irrelavant). If you let stun fully decay then you can root till your heart content

There is 2 more semireproducable bugs...

If you mez mob and someone else stun it (w/o damaging component) mob still can teleport on top of coercer (yestoday in Solusek eye this was driving me nuts)

If you do combination mez and root - if root ware off before mez ware off sometime mob can start teleporting circle too

I understand completely, now. Thanks.

This just goes to point out how brilliant the strategy above actually is--effectively avoiding that bug.

Okay. Making myself vomit now. Talk amongst yourselves.

i hardly ever root when i solo. i have noticed that our roots are inferior to wizzy roots, becuase our roots break pretty much whenever a DOT ticks. The ONLY time i ever rooted at lvl 25 was when i was being interupted when i was trying to stun, because binding light has a VERY fast cast time. I would root, back up as fast as possible and go back to the strategy below. at lvl 25 i could kill skeletal troopers and lieutenants that were up to lvl 27 outside RoV iwthout EVER seeing my HP get to orange.

similar in many ways to the 16 (or so) step strategy above, with a few exceptions.

Once you have ego strike (ego strike upgrade i think at lvl 23), always lead off with it. WHen the root on ego strike works, you can get through an entire HO and usually at least one dot.

SO:

1. Ego strike from the maximum casting range. if ego Strike sticks, the mob will be rooted for a while.

2. if ego strike sticks:

a. Start HO, cast ego shock. This roots the mob as well - extra protection.

b. finish HO: if its a lighting bolt finisher, use mind Jolt. If its a star finisher, use gloom.

c. at this point, you are gonna get hit most likely, get ready for it.

d. move on to 3 a.

3. if ego strike doesnt stick (or moving on from 2):

a. start HO, cast Daunting gaze.

b. cast gloom and cerebral spasm.

c. should be able to cast ([expletive ninja'd by Faarbot], cant remember the name) the Yellowish icon stifle/power drain over time before Daunting gaze is up. If you can, the mob will hit you but it will be stifled so it will be a melee hit for like 45 HP, as opposed to 200, heh.

d. finish HO: if its lightning, use mind jolt (or master stirke), if its star, use stupefy.

e. (if you are breaking the HO, finish the HO with Ego strike/shock to root the mob, THEN cast the stifle spell)

f. move on to 4.

4. here you can do what you think you need to do. the mob should be below 50% health (and with any luck hasnt even moved yet - or if it has hit you once for like 50 HP). HO as much as possible, use ego strike/shock for your roots (they are more dependable than binding light, but take a long time to cast), but priority should be on keeping Gloom and Cerebral spasm up. with these on, you can kite the mob til its dead if you really wanted to. if you NEED to, use binding light to buy some time. if you REALLY REALLY need to (i.e. if oyu get an add), cancel all DOTs and mez the mob. I have only ever done this one time, and it was just to figure out how i was gonna kill the mob i was on and the 2 adds i got. i am stubborn, so i just kept mezzing and combat medding, killed all 3 in like 10 minutes....made a sandwich in between mezzes lol.

unless you are interrupted a lot, or get adds, you should be able to almost chain pull if you have breeze up and use consume ego.

good luck.
