View Full Version : Ice Flame
I only found out yesterday that there were two spells per class from Bloodlines. Seems the spell is specific to the Sorcerer AT rather than any specific class so we share with Wizards. Anyway it's a level 35 spell and for me (level 35 and spell is App 4) it does the following. - ~280 fire damage. - ~280 cold damage. - 4 second snare (~66% movement reduction). - 30 second recast. Not a bad little addition to our arsenal. 4 seconds may not seem like a lot but it could be quite handy in order to put some distance between myself and whatever wants to eat me at the time. Graphically it's pretty nice. You launch a bunch of ice spikes and impale the target then it gets surrounded in "ice fire". The flames look kinda like Suffocating Breath but they're very light blue and white. I've still not found out what our Adept 2 quest reward spell is yet but heard the summoner one looks awesome (float in air, summon cloud of bats etc).

where do we get the spell from???

Adept III takes woad ink (rough opal/ruthenium) to make and does about 800dmg total when the spell is mastered. Or you can do the quests at the little camp next to the waterfall in nek forest so you can attain faction to buy apprentice version from the vendor there. I imagine there will be tons of copies at the broker in the next few days.

The second Adept II spell is a mystery to me. According to the other forums I've seen, it's like a quest mastery spell (against vampires only) so...if you aren't going to be playing in the new adventure zone alot, seems pretty pointless.

As far as Iceflame causing heat/cold damage instead of disease/poison, I haven't had a chance to see if it's resisted any more/less than wizards. We can't debuff for heat/cold, so my guess is that it will be resisted more for us than wizards. /shrug, 30sec recast though, seems like a nice addition for the soloing types.

Message Edited by Splatterpunk28 on 03-25-2005 09:46 AM

i think its silly we get an ice and flame spell we are warlocks not wizards.
We started out as Sorcerers. It makes sense for a Sorcerer spell to use fire and ice since that's what we used back then. Does the faction vendor sell the App4 version? Any idea what the Adept 2 spell we get for completing the 5 quests does?

I dunno but we're going in tonight...anyone know if you ACTUALLY need a raid to complete the quests? I think that me,templar, paladin are good enough to trample that zone.

Just run though and AE and DD everything down, kill names etc. Was easy and took a total of like 2 hours.

The summoner one you are referring to is not Adept 2 quality. It can be obtained the same way as you Ice Flame spell. Are you sure there is another spell? Some guildies completed quests in the new zones last night and received nice power regen armor.

ok what quests are u guys talking about????

i am totally lost here

Went ahead and had Adept 3 of this created tonight. At level 41 it's listing it as:

Inflict 395 damage on target (guessing cold as it is what is displayed first on damage out)

Inflict 375 damage on target

Slows target 68%

On thing about this spell....it has a very short casting range...I'd say less than 1/2 the range Nil Distortion has. And while I'm not too crazy that it's ice/fire based..it does give us some added versatility versus mobs high in poison/disease resists.

Humm think i'd rather have the monks special attack. 5 minute reuse timer. kills mob outright thats blue con. Its now taking top positions on the magical hits charts. One of the guys on monks forum is saying hes done over 9000pts in one hit with it. Of course this obviously a bug, but it sure must be fun for those guys whilst it lasts.

I think the monk skill is just designed to kill those targets in a single hit. I'm thinking that the numbers being reported are exactly equal to the number of hit points a particular mob has.

Ice Flame has a neat graphic. The casting gestures are also nothing like we have had yet. The short range and short duration coupled with the longish casting time makes this spell something you'll use mainly (if at all) in a group setting cause it aint too useful soloing other than a finisher spell. I like it none-the-less.

While this may be nice for a small bit of extra damage I've never seen it hit even close to how much it says in the description. Is this because we don't get any elemental debuffs? Because of that doesn't it make this spell far more useful for *** that other class we're not allowed to comment on ***? I don't use this spell too much since I already have to pace myself for aggro reasons. I imagine once I get Nil Disortion this spell will be relegated to solo use at most. Swarm of Bats looks way cooler too .

Got it at adept3 2 days ago. First the question about resists, yes were doing lesser damage with it then wizards. I had normally hits around 330 to 350 with no wizard in group and a good 380 to 400 with Wizard in Group.I wouldnt say its a solo spell, if you got a good tank, its a good extra damage you can do, and i really love it in raids not just standing around and nuking over and over again, but having to coordinate a little moving into cast range and timing versus area spells that they dont hit me. Its a great additional spell i think.
