<DIV>The spell effect says it can be canceled by caster.  The exact words are "the wizard can choose to not maintain the spell before the full duration"  So far all I get when I cast it is stunned for 30 seconds and can not do until it is run its course.  I can not canel it, I can not move, I can cast.  Neither can the MOB but what is the good of this?</DIV>

<DIV>its an emergancy mez.  I still use the spell line at lvl 53 and does have its uses.  But its not something thats is always used though.  Its situational.  Also if you right click on the icon in your mantience window it gives you the option to cancel the spell.</DIV>

<P>Can't cancel, that's kinda wierd, I have not used it for any reason except by accident, and I've been able to cancel it at my leisure,  well the first time I couldn't cause I had no clue what happened.  Heh, solo mob was in middle of kicking my hind end and letting me know who was boss then suddenly I couldn't move and neither could the my opponent.  After the 30 seconds or what ever it took to run it's course and expire, the solo mob continued to learn me a lesson or two or 50 and killed me right quick.  Haven't found no use for Boreal as of yet except to delay my death a few seconds longer. LOL  </P> <P> </P> <P>If any one can explain to me the circumstances or use of Boreal, please be so kind as to share this top secret information with me.  :smileywink: </P>

Its situational but certainly not useless. Say you have a group and you pull a ^^^ and then you get another ^^^ add. You can mesmerise it for a good deal of time and completely take it out of the fight. True your stunned but in a way its better than a root because if its a mob with a ranged attack then it cant use it whereas it still can if rooted.Worth trying out certainly. <div></div>

actually i quite like this spell and have found use for it, mainly in small grps, when that xtra "add" jumps in and becomes a problem. I simply "mez" it, buying time for mt to recover, than cancell and continue to kill or whatever <div></div>

<P>At level 51 I have used it once. Reason I don't use it on adds is that I am of far more use getting the first mob down fast, it's more efficient than locking yourself out of the fight as well as the mob. Even more useless since combat changes, due to our increased damage.</P> <P> </P>

In fact, I use it everytime I have an add. It gives some time for the tank to taunt it, for someone to root it, or for a chanty to mez it, then I cancel the spell and continue the fight. <div></div>

<DIV><FONT face=Verdana>It saves the healer when they are getting pounded and almost dead from an add. Especially when the tank is slow to react (even after you've mez'd it).</FONT></DIV>

I can see how it would be somewhat useful, at least in a group.  Thanks for the info everyone.  I may have to try it a couple times, and see how it goes.

Like some of the above posters said, this is situational.  I run with a group of 4 guys (paladin, fury, wiz, swash) and anytime we get an add the swash will mez it.  The swash mez has a longish recast, so I usually boreal to keep it off the tank in a tight spot.  Giving up your dps is tough, but sometimes that extra time is all the healer needs to catch up. I'd say I use this spell a few times an hour when running with those guys.  Saved teh group a couple of times, but useful regardless.  Also something I do to feel useful when my power is low, since 30s of rest from a boss can make a lot more of a difference than 1 last nuke <div></div>

Before LU13 i havent used it once, but now ive saved my group a few times with it. Because you get mezzed yourself its very situational, but can be usefull sometimes. <div></div>

Hehe.  Aroofia, NEVER use it solo <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  In solo settings..ya..it's worthless In group settings (if you have room on your spellbar) it's useful (depending)  Some adds can be nasty...and if your group is high on dps and low on mezzers... Let's say you're taking a ^^^ orange named.  Battle's getting tough..but doable. SUDDENLY!!! Add!!!!!!! you?  /mez <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<P>Never used it solo,  but in groups its good for adds,  also it can be used like such:</P> <P>I was in a group in rov,  all below 30,  we went to the weavemasters room, I  invised in and got my target on the weavemaster himself,  then the tank pulled the mob,  I mezed the weavemaster,  while the group dealt with the mob,  thankfully they dealt with his minions just intime for the master to break lose from the mez.  Now if we had a chanter in group I would much prefer they do this,  but we did not,  so it was very handy.</P>

<DIV>It can be very helpful solo, too, especially when fighting groups. The mes stays on once you get hit by the other monsters...</DIV>
