Just curious if anyone here is in a raiding guild and is the active main tank on most encounters.  I'd like to hear your experiences if you have any SMILEY

At the moment I am the main tank for our guild raids, but that is only because our guardians are not in my level range.  We raid Coldtooth, the spider in Nek, the orc general in Zek, and the nightblood in EL whenever they are up.  I have no trouble tanking these raids mobs, so I'm excited to see how much better we will do when a guardian takes my place.

I am the main tank for our guild. We have raided Cauldron Hollow 6-7 times now.

Have been the main tank a couple of times. Most recently mentored down to lvl 28 and took on our guild lvl 15 raid, I know its not a great comparison because it was mentoring but everything was yellow and had no troubles tanking. Also have had no problems tanking Vindiamor in the Condemned Catacombs. To be honest I haven't seen a lot of raid content aside from Cauldron Hollows and the guild raids. It seems to be a bit short in the 35-40's area. Perhaps it'll get better when we're all around lvl 40.

Lvl 50 Pally here,

very very rarley am I the MT in raids. simply because of the lack of holding agro compared to other tank types.

I can MT when needed that is not the issues, the issues is that I have to expend so much more power to generate same amount of agro

as other tank types, and once I run out... there goes agro to hell.. and people start dying, heh.

But if you can dedicate a manapumper to me while fighting (wizard) then no problem SMILEY

Berserkers and Guardian's ability to hold agro at level 50 is far superior.  Their AC is slightly better too.

Anything below 50, you being the MT will more than suffice.

44 Paladin here, and Ive been our guild's main tank since day 1. We've done Nek Castle, Cauldron Hollow, Cove of Decay and multiple other large scale raids through the way. Im not sure how things will be at 50, but we can see. W

lvl 48 pally here. MT a number of raid mobs. but most recently i was in a raid with a lvl 50 guard, both me and him mentored down to lvl 47 to turn the spider in nek green, with a mystic in the group my str was 266, with my ebbc i stole the aggro from the guard a number of times. after the guardian died and had to revive and come back, i was able to tank the the spider with no healer just fine, holding aggro even when the guard came back through rest of the fight when the guard was trying to taunt the spider back. and the 50 guardian is a good friend of mine and one of the best raid MT on our server, has a number of server first kills on big raid bosses. when we xp in perma i can steal the aggro from him whenever i use call to glory (he likes the challenge and i like to take the aggro). i do have to confess though, and maybe you guys can help me figure this one out...... i know aggro management is the entire group's responsibility, and reckless nuking/healing will eventually steal the aggro (or that's what moorguard said). i can hold aggro just fine with 49 warlocks or 50 assassins (i do have to say i get nervous when warlock chain debuffs, those things generage OUTRAGEOUS aggro), but this 47 swashy i group with regularly has been able to get the aggro from me for at least 3 second EVERY FIGHT. now before you start lecturing me on how to tank or hold aggro, please save it, i made it this far being the mt since lvl 20... but i guess what i'm asking is, has anyone had the same problem with swashies or rangers?? i have several swashy friends and i know they have quite a few spells that generates a lot of hate, and rangers also have arts that generates hate. the swashy i group with deals GREAT dmg and is one of the better scout dps i have seen, but is it just me, or should i treat him as a special case??

Swashys have extremely high DPS.  The catch is, a lot of their abilities also accrue aggro (they even have one ability that bumps them a spot on the hate list).  If your Swashy doesnt know how to maintain their aggro, they are going to take it from you, and they will be beaten to a pulp very quickly at that point. Its not you, its basically them hitting their taunt keys nonstop. W

50 pally here too adding my thoughts..

I have tried to MT in raids but we just burn up too much power, so unless there is a power pump or bard in grp we are not very viable.

With power we are the best around... however when it runs dry we are the worst SMILEY
