![]() At first when I hit 20 I was all excited to get my Pally geared up in the Armor Quest gear. However, the same day that I started and got my gloves, I did the relic quest in Stormhold and replaced them with the gloves reward almost immedatly. I've gotten the bracers and they seem to be fairly decent, but I really don't want to waste my time going any further with the quests if I'm just going to be replacing the armor so soon. edit: Also I tried searching for posts about this subject and didn't find anything. If there is a thread about this already my apologies for reposting the topic. Message Edited by Commander Koala on 12-20-2004 04:00 AM |

![]() As a level 27 Paladin and a level 26 armorer I think it is worth doing the quest for the armor and the xp involved. At level 27 I have only replaced the gloves with the Gauntlets of Storms from Stormhold. The pristine forged carbonite vanguard I can make comes close and is all wearable at level 20 but the AC from the quest armor is better on most or all of the pieces. There must be a lot of people that don't want to do the quest for the armor though cause I am having keeping vanguard in stock. No complaints here. ![]() |

![]() my suggestion is that to do the first few and forgo the rest. Cause to do everything is really a wastage of time. I am currently 28 and most of my armour are bought or found off loot which are better then AQ. |

![]() And it's ugly. Oh mercy, how it's ugly. I loved my big buff looking shoulder vanguards (laensteel I think), but then I got my AQ shoulders and they're so....pedestrian. They look like cheap chainmail with cheap slabs of leather cheaply fashioned together. I found some Sabatons of the Observer in SH, which are very similar to the armor quested boots, but have lower AC higher up. No idea what they look like however, as my leggings overwrite my feet armor graphic.

Then again, better looks don't make better tanking. |

Personally, I find the vanguard hideous. I much prefer the plate look.Having just finished AQ6 a couple days ago I think they're worth it. They get you around to some different places you might not get to otherwise and they've pretty good stats imho.I thought that 3 was the hardest to get. Once you crawl out of Stormhold for that one it gets a lot easier. There's lots of people doing these quests so it isn't hard to get pickup groups right now. In fact, I did all the quests except for 3 with pickup groups.I got a store bought chest piece to tide me over for a few levels because the quested one isn't usable until level 24. Likewise the legs aren't usable until 23. This series doesn't include a quest for a helm although there is another quest you can get for that which is mentioned periodically.

![]() There is SO LITTLE armor (or items in general) in this game that it is almost a MUST to do the armor quests. I am level 30 and still wear most of the armor from armor quests, as better armor requires grouping and going into level 35+ zones or higher and praying that 1. armor drops 2. you win the lotto. There is no in-between armor. Maybe its just my server (everfrost) but there is literally nothing worth buying on the blackmarket also.

![]() I'm only lvl 22 but don't some of the vendors in Qeynos Harbor sell some high-end plate for lvls 25-30ish? I think there should be armor quests at 20, 30 and 40.

The best plate I found being sold in Qeynos Harbor is inferior to the quest armor. I did buy a breastplate from that guy to use until I could use my quest brestplate. What worried me was that none of the vendors were selling plate for higher levels (30 say). There were vendors selling chain and leather armor for higher levels but no plate or vanguard that I could find. I really really hope there's some guy somewhere selling higher level stuff which I missed, or things are going to be looking a mite unpleasant come level 30.If you decide to buy armor from a vendor, use the guy in Qeynos Harbor and not the one in Greystone Yard. At least for me the guy in Qeynos Harbor charged a LOT less for the same stuff.

![]() I'd say all the pieces are worth getting except the gloves, as the Gauntlet of Storms is a bit better. You cant skip the gloves to get to the other items either, so you're going to get them regaurdless. Didn't find that out that GoS gloves were better till after I attuned the AQ gloves but hey, what can you do. Also, I have the prestine carbonite barbutute (sp) piece that someone made for me ( I forget the whole name, but it's the one with the extra stats on it), and I was wondering if there is a better quest helm available for around levels 25-35. Seems like a dead zone for items in that level bracket.

Hehe being a 30 armorer, I'm fully set in steel, so I can say that if you can get your hands on enough steel, they're only good for xp. But that's quite a feat, so I would say they are indeed worth it and that's without even doing them.

![]() The armor is not ugly, it's just plain. It’s a brown/copper color and if your graphics are not turned up high enough it’s easy to mistake for leather. With my graphics setting it appears bronze and the detailing on the trim is simple, but not unattractive. It’s good solid stuff. I’m 26 and I have not replaced a single piece yet. As for a helmet, there is a Feyiron helm I have seen a few times on the market. Better stats than the Pristine Carbonite version, but I am going to hold off until I can find a Pristine Feyiron helm. I would imagine as more Armorsmiths level up we will start seeing good armor at a reasonable price. When that happens, it is very likely the quest armor will become obsolete. That’s just a theory though. With the exception of part 3, it was fun doing the quest too, but then I like questing... |

Why in God's green earth is is bronze? Shouldn't Paladins have a nice shiny silvery-white armor? Oh well I have no way to change things.
