Now I know this will cause a few posts about why I solo with a paladin but I really just want to post where I have found some decent solo mobs and see if anyone else has found some others.

At 22/23 I spent my time on the west coast of the thundering steppes killing crabs which drop decent loot and are mostly yellow. It seems to also be a popular spot for groups to hunt there (lots of this going on) but one word of warning: watch out for Windfeather as he patrols the beach in spurts( I watched him wipe out a good size group 3 times with levels from 21 to 26..he's usually a 2 arrow red) and the sirens(yellow and easy to solo) and octopus(group 1 arrow white) that occassionally sneak up behind you. You can avoid all of these if you fight at either the north or south end of the beach and pull back up on that little rise.

At 24 I have moved to the undead along the east  edge of TS where you can keep the zone wall at your back and limit adds.So far the loot is sparse but I haven't spent enough time yet to really tell.

edit: update..the loot is pretty good on the undead. Orbs skel hands fall quite regularly.

Any other  solo spots anyone likes?

*soloer's disclaimer: I solo due to the extreme stress grouping causes me early on in games. Later on when I find a guild or folks I am friendly with I will groups as much as possible. The paladin is great for soloing so far and I love melee characters..end of disclaimer*

I usually go after group mobs that are about 3 lvls below me. I get good loot and usually get 1% of xp towards lvling.

I like those to but I don't find many currently that I can do. No arrow green groups up to 4 work ok and some of the 2 count 1 arrow greens go ok (about half tear me up)  but 2 arrow green solo mobs rip through me like butter. I would do nothing but that if I could.

I find SH to be a good place,  but be careful   I am at lvl 22 and can kill any green ^^ I have come across,  or 2 green^s  or 3 greens in a group    it is kinda hard to find anything other than green that can be soloed as almost everything has either arrows or is in a group......then again,  I cant think of anything that does not have ^ or is in a group in SH

No I haven't..only been in SH once for  a couple minutes. thx for the info.

And the green groups I was referring to are the farmer type undead in TS. The gnoll green groups I still can't solo no matter what level.

Can you explain how to get there ? I tried to find this place before but the steppes are quite dangerous to scout as a non sneaky/invisible paladin SMILEY

I take it you haven't done your armor quests yet? This is one of the spots we have to go too and kill stuff for part 5 or 6.

Anyway if you have most of the map uncovered (if not get one from the web like eq2-maps.com) and head down to Qeynos Tower 4. While facing the entry way of the tower and pretending it's at 12 o clock, turn right until you're facing about 3 or 4 o clock. You'll see a burned out forrest, where all the trees have their tops removed. If you run through that towards the mountain wall you'll see a huge crater and tons of skeletons.

That's the general direction of Varsoon's entrance, and there are alot of white, yellow, orange solo mobs that you can take out at 22. The orange ones are doable but you'll use up too much power, just watch out for adds as they like to wander.

I don't remember any loot, but I only fought them long enough to get the 15 or 20 I needed for the quest.

There are also crabs at the northern beach, along with sirens in the water that are really easy and white. They both drop armor pieces that sell for a good bit of silver occassionally. I've only seen the big red named Griffon at the other beach, not the one near Antonica. If you're on the Unrest server that was probably me and my group that got wiped a few times. For some reason people just couldn't get it in there head to move and avoid dying as he flew back and forth, hehe.

At 26, with all 6 Armor quests done, I typically go to either the varsoons entrance area (as described above) or to the centaur area SW corner of TS.

But, at 26, taking on 28's (no up arrows or down arrows) seems to be a complete waste of time as far as exp goes...  Kill 2-3 28's at 26 for 1/2%?

Nah... Quest Noob FedEx BS for better exp...  Now if thats not messed up...

A note on camping the entrance to Varsoon's lair...If you can get your resists about 300 or so (jewelry or qrmor questing), the Varsoon's Apprentices are pretty silly easy in the L24-L25 range and offer good experience. Finished off the last 30pct of Level 25 in a little under 3 hours camping that spot last night. The apprentices have very few hit points, are casters (therefore the resist requirements) and after landing blinding light or smiting prayer our divine based attackes rip 'em up.It drops off significantly at L26... as you start seeing more blues than not.

At level 22 i was doing crabs, puerile hawks, snakes and antelope, gotta be careful of the antelope though little suckers hit hard, at around level 23-24 i was camping the entrance to varsoon's lair, great xp, good drops, fairly safe area just watch for people running to zone at the entrance as you can end up with a lot of company quite fast, the skeletal lieutenants and soldiers there are a bit tough at 23 so be careful, i recommend staying with varsoons apprentices, they waste their mana fast, just stay alive then finish them off.

Right now i'm at level 25 and best xp for me atm is in crypt of betrayal killing shrillers, undead and scarabs, it is soloable for a paladin down there, you just have to watch your back for any stragglers, it seems that as long as i attack something that cons green ^^ and that it is level 21 i can come out ahead with decent xp, level 22 just has too much offensive power for me to take just yet, i can also handle the animated scarecrows in thundering steppes but the respawn rate is too slow for my taste.  In CoB the only really tough thing there thats green ^^ is the shrillers they love to just nuke the crap out of you and sometimes keeping determination of faith going isn't enough, you'll end up tossing a heal on yourself, but after they're outta power same thing, last the first assault then show them why a paladin is made to last.  Enjoy!! I made a killing running back and forth between the beach enterance in the steppes and then down to tower 2 killing every hawk/snake/beetle/deer I could find. Yeah the xp wasn't uber but with the armor drops from snakes and hawks selling to "generous" merchants at 20 silver a pop I just couldn't resist it. Now most are grey to me. SMILEY I guess I'll move on to skellys.
