Curious to know what others are using.
I'm back and forth between the two it seems...both one handed and two handed.
I like the slower, big damage because I can pull off a spell without interfering with my melee attack times...
But sometimes I wonder if maybe I should just go with the weapon that hits more often (sometimes almost twice as fast) for two thirds of the damage.
I like the thought of a faster weapon proc'ing more...but is it worth it?
Have there been tests done to reflect this?

Call me stoopid to ask...but I wanna know...

Remember as a SK you use up way to much power when using specials.  More than likely you will be pacing yourself so use the one with the highest damage rating. I also say "use what ever hits the mob".

There is a reason why we use 2h at higher lvls.  Yep we do more damage.  Nothing compares to a nice 2h wepon damage wise to a SK.

When tanking use a Kite shield with the fastest weapon before 45 those little hits add up.  After 45  switch to the bigest, baddest, ugly, 2h you can find and plow away.  Taunt in between swings and use specials sparingly mostly you want to generate as much aggro as possible while saving power for taunts use Ho's. Usually it goes like this taunt, swing, special, swing, ward, swing , taunt  you get the deal.  Unless you have waarlocks or wizards and then it is a whole different ball game . If you have them;  then you need to be warding,  constantly group buffing ,slowing,  debuffing, throw in kitchen sink and  just try to generate as much aggro as possible as fast as you can . Then hope you loose aggro only at the end of the fight heheh.  Wizards and Warlocks like to burn their power and they don't hold back in this game.

Oh and HOs might save you; but you better be ready when you try to get a HO off and the caster beats you the punch. Ack!!!!!

Currently I am weilding Prismatic Great sword and Sparkling Great hammer.  No shield for me that is for warriors though i think i get the next Kite Shield of the king 800AC I  think. Maybe i can convince them to let me tank an Epic hehehe.

Ya call me crazy too... But,

I tend to go for the fastest weapon that does the best damage.  I try and make up the DPS with my casting ability and the dmg spells we have.  SMILEY

depends if your tanking or not, and what lvl the mob cons to you. even cons or above use sheild and slow 1h when tanking for groups. Slow 1h like starfall are good because of riposte factor they have, higher conning mobs have a better chance to do this to you per hit, so if your hitting them faster the more damage you could take.  When off tanking I'd go with what ever weapon you can find with the highest damage rating.

I recentlty started to use an Imbued Feysteel Longsword and an Imbued Oak Kite shield and there is no way in hell I would ever swap to a 2 hander. Even if I wasn't the main tank the procs along from the sword is often enough, and at 1.7s my grim harbinger fires off very frequently. In the event I am tanking my shield is amazing. When I hit 40 the first thing I am doing is upgrading my longsword and shield to the T5 versions. I might do the EBBC just cause I got a Berik but it will sit on my wall unless they upgrade the proc to be better then imbued.

yeah, in another thread someone showed the EBBC vs. the imbued ebon greatsword. imho the ebon greatsword imbued had the edge, those imbued weapons arent a joke, im glad they didn't water em down, but they probably will.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many times this question is posed on this board.

The answer is that it's purely situational. If you're going to be the main tank of a group, the better your defense, the less work the healer has to do and the better your chances of standing on your feet. So why wouldn't you want to have a shield equipped? If you're a secondary tank, or soloing greens, then sure, maximizing your DPS makes a lot more sense as the benefit of the shield is, essentially, worthless.

We have several buffs that cause procs about x% of the time (Grim Harbinger / Insatiable Hunger / Shriek of Terror)...  Faster weapons cause these procs to happen more frequently.  For this reason alone I generally use a 1 hand + shield combo and only switch to 2 hand if I am farming or very rarely if I think it may be better suited for damage.

IMO the best Weapons for the SK to use are the Schimitar(1.4s delay)/Longsword(1.7s Delay) and shield or [Removed for Content] swords (1.9s delay). I use longswords and [Removed for Content] swords myself and i like it. Pristine Forged Fulginate long sword and The Heart Reaver. i have Ancient slayers ring of agi and Flowing black silk sash, so it makes my Heart Reaver swing as fast as a scimitar, Even Tho with either kind my Unholy aura and Insatible hunger seem to proc pretty rarely. Unless im tanking those heroic encounters im always using a 2hander for the extra damage. The great swords, claymores, and slow one handers are better for those without proc buffs.

i alternate between a screaming mace and a lava forged falchion. each has it's good time to use. in raids or any long fights i go with screaming mace so i never run out of power. if i'm in a zone that is good for getting adds i use the mace.

if i have a level 50 wiz in my group that is good at grabbing aggro i use my falchion. overall i prefer faster weapon with lower dmg. more hits = more chances to proc from your gear, it is also better to keep aggro steady.
