The key to soloing is having the right gear, all your spells at Adept3, and knowing the mob you are fighting. Sure I've seen monks take named greens, and even blue at higher lvls, but then again there are some mobs that you just can't take out fast enough.

Brawlers are probably the best out of the fighter classes that can solo.

I just hit 38 with my Monk last night so I can't tell you anything about higher levels. I have been able to solo named greens (about 5 levels below) since I hit my 20's. At 36 I went to Nek castle solo to see how well I can do. Beat Billy (level 32) solo but I almost died myself. At 26 I couldn't solo the 23 battlepriest in SH (almost but not quite) but when I tried again at 28 it was a cake walk. I can take most heroics 4 levels or lower, 5 or lower I can usually take 2 on at once if I'm careful or they have low crush mit.
Still, those fights are in general, sometimes things don't go my way and I get beat badly by the same named that couldn't get me low yellow the last 3 times I fought him.

For gear I'm full mastercrafted and only have adpet III on my buffs. The rest are app4 or adept1. We may not kill the fastest but our survivability is good.

My shaman solos same stuff as in the same time as my monk, he just does not need high tiered equipment or FD. Looks slower, but doing higher damage. Soloing for any class is a non-issue.

Monks or bruisers have one thing that makes them great soloers and IMO one of the best names farmers.  That is 10 second recast feign death.  You can run like hell to the names FDing mobs off you along the way.  Pesky see invis mobs dont effect you. With good gear and spells you become a farming machine.

Learning to time your stuns will help.  When you get to the higher levels you get some really good stuff. A 10 second 100% avoidence buff, 4k magic dmg ward(if you dont know you wont be touched by a magic spell until the mob has done more then 4k dmg to you) You can dispel buffs(get this in early lvls but the more you level the more usefull it becomes, and a heal.

I'm a 47 monk and I solo 90% of the time, I have all mastercrafted armor and most of my spells are adept3's the only things I have trouble with are heroics and nameds close to my level.

Sounds like Monks are still doing great then from what I see here.:smileyhappy: I am just a Bruiser trying to find my way through he solo fields. Lsat night, I went ahead and tryed the blue con^^^ Nightbloods in El...they are 40th level and I am a 42nd. I was astonished that I was winning more than I was having to FD to. Brawlers are God's gift to EQ2:smileywink: I love em. Brawlers dun have to kite to kill tough mobs, just stand toe to toe and kill em. Ofc, we do have a Sucker Punch we need to get an angle on the mobs for, but all in all, Brawlers really are  the best of both worlds. Woot. Go Brawlers!

As a level 70 Monk, I can solo level 71^^^'s. Using my wards, heal, and uberstunnage. We're good to solo. And on that subject, I only have...6 or 7 pieces of fabled armor. So yeah...Good to solo. SMILEY

Can someone tell me what a good order to cast spells is to optimize output? Are some combination of spells better or more useful then others?I'm sorry I can't remember the names now, but I usually open with the spell that lowers the defense, then throw in the dots and then alternating stun / damage spells...Any tips are welcome SMILEY

I am only in my 20s, so I can't speak for high end content.  That said, I also play a Warden, Defiler, Ranger, Wizard and Conjurer (and have played a Paladin, Mystic and Troubador as well).

My Monk is probably the most survivable of all of my characters so far.  I can take a beating and keep right on going in most situations.  Most of my characters have taken a lot longer to solo with than my Monk has, while also having to be more careful about what they attack or what to do when they get unexpected aggro.

I've never played a Bruiser, so I don't know how they compare.
