I would pose a question for those who have done more high end raiding then myself. I've seen many times here that orange con mobs completely ignore mitigation and avoidance. I was wondering if the same holds true for resistances? How about the resistance to crushing/piercing/slashing that some items have?

Thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom,

I'm interested in the answer to this question too.

Awhile back Quij tried doing Harclave at Very Hard.  She did fine until she got the buff and faced her first heroic orange gnoll off the ledge.  Suffice to say she was a very dead frog while the gnoll might have gotten some of her blood on his fur.  Even with that crazy buff he dropped me steadily while I could barely scratch him.  I can't recall my weapons for certain, but I believe I was wielding either a cestii and a cestus, both legendary imbued, or imbued fighting batons.  At the time I did not know about immune mobs and switching weapons, but prior to the mobs turning orange, I was hurting them.

It was very disheartening.

I have no chance against orange mobs. Just 1 lvl later, I knock them down without much trouble (non heroics). So I think that as long as they are orange or higher, they completely ignore mit and avoidance.

Also they seem to resist most of my attacks and avoid most of my normal hits... (run, fd, get up, run fd, get up run fd ... finally works or dead)

An orange mob as so much more skill than you do, mit and dmg are going to matter very little.  I dont even bother with orange mobs..so much rather take any yellow, and actually be able to touch it.

Lastnight in EF I was hunting bears for a quest. They were from 47 to 49 and orange to me at L42. The 47 I could kill and land most of my CA's(Master I's mostly) and end the fight with 50% health left. Oddly enough the 48 and 49 would resist everything and pount me into dirty. My point is I don't think it's all orange cons mobs. Clearly in this case 1 level made a HUGE difference.I've since hit 43 and I'll go back and test it again against the 48 and 49 but what I expect is I will beat the 48 with 50% health but get my butt handed to me by the 49.

Please do Junaru... I think we're all interested in the results.

I've been doing Poet's groups every night as the tank, and honestly I haven't been parsing or watching the combat spam...

But I _HAVE_ to be hitting as I'm not losing aggro... The last 4 mobs we fight are all orange con I'll check thorugh my logs when I get home and check level differences on my next run through.

Mobs do not ignore mitigation or avoidance.

They are scaling factors:  if your mitigation reads 80% vs a lvl 60, then thats 80% vs a lvl 60.  Each lvl above that your mitigation goes down % wise.  IF you had full legendary at 50 then leveld to 60, with identical armor, you would notice you lose about 10-15%.  Its a concept called chasing the cap.   If you want to mitigate a lvl 56 raid mob you need 6700 ish mitigation, cause the standard 5k (80% vs 60) will only amount to about 40% vs a 56 epic.

Think of it like this, 200 mitigation at lvl 1 is enough to mitigate the dmg of a lvl1, but at lvl 20 if you still have 200  mitigation your looking at about 2% mitigation :-p

Solowise, its possible to kill solo con orange mobs very easily with legendary gear/spells.  Raid wise, i was in defense stance last night tanking named mobs in PPtR and i think the mob was parsing 200 dps on me even though it was an orange con epic , granted PPtR are special mobs ment to not do much dps a monk can definatly mitigate their hits and live.

There is a designed element in the game where orange con mobs are supposed to be drasticly different then yellow con, and the more orange/red a mob is the more drastic its  supposed to be.  Aka a 68 epic vs a 66 epic , the 68 would probably whipe the 66 without losing much hp.

As far as hitting mobs goes, idk what people complain about, as long as the mob isnt a brawler with back side avoidance, i dps on raids in defensive stance and still hit the mobs that are 56-57 no problem
