Does anyone know if there is a difference between the amount of avoidance, and therefore the damage you take, when using CAs vs. when using strictly autoattack?  That is, it is widely believed that you can increase your DPS by timing your CAs so they fire off between autoattack swings.  This is based on the fact that autoattack will not swing while a CA is casting.

It occurs to me that a similar mechanism may make you more vulnerable to an attack while your CA is casting.  That is, it could be that it is harder to avoid attacks while you are casting a CA.  That could mean that spamming CAs would cause you to take more damage than if you were simply hitting with autoattack during that same time frame.  It could also mean that there could be value in timing your CAs between the target's attacks in the same way you could increase your own damage by timing your CAs between your own autoattacks.

Note, I am not talking about repostes, which would be a factor for autoattacks as well.  I am simply wondering if it is possible that your avoidance may drop slightly while executing a CA, and, therefore, if there may be some benefit in timing your CAs differently, especially when you are concerned about the damage you are taking.

Has anyone done any kind of tests in this regard?

Im not a parse geek or anything but i do know that i still seem to dodge and block and even riposte while a CA is casting. Way to test this would be to cast a longer CA while in combat and watch what defenses are used. (refreshing a hex doll while tanking comes to mind... not a CA but i think the mechanics are the same)
