It is a testament to the designers of EverQuest II that I am having to quit because the game is too good. The simple fact is that I am playing EverQuest II too much (and too late at night) and it is affecting my health, my job, and my family. Since I am, after all, FamilyManFirst, that has to stop. Since I can't seem to summon the self-discipline to keep my EQII play down to reasonable hours it's time to hang up my subscription and call it a game. Perhaps, in 15 years or so, when the kids are grown and gone, I'll be able to pick up EverQuest IV (SMILEY) and find out what has happened to Norrath in the intervening years. All you Monks out there, good luck and have fun! The Big Combat Revamp looks promising to me; here's hoping it makes Monks even more fun to play than they are now. Gage-Mikel, it has been a pleasure reading your posts. Keep up the good fight and don't let them forget that Monks are Tanks! Who knows, the way you post you might win the award for Overall Most Posts! Moorgard, while I have not agreed with everything you have done, I respect the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] - aww, c'mon, Faarbot - okay, okay, I respect the heck out of you for taking a very difficult job and doing the best you can with it. Aside from a stumble or two you're doing well. Thank you for being our interface to the devs and the execs. Blackguard, you rock. 'Nuff said. SMILEY Faarwolf, you're wonderful! You're the Forum Mom and a group more pigheaded and unruly than us I can hardly imagine. Yet you keep us mostly in-bounds and do it with syle and flair. Me 'at's off to ye!
If flame wars erupt, Or bumps, re-posts, rule-breakings, Fear not! Faarwolf comes!
The rest of you devs, well done and keep up the good work. EQII has been, for me, a very fun game to play and I haven't even seen half of what's out there. FamilyManFirst Murriel - 21 Kerran Monk Gedgin - 15 Gnome Sorceror Ugurk - 35 Ogre Berserker Larathia - 24 Dark Elf Fury Edited for layout

Ah man, sad to see you go FMF.  Your posts were always a very welcome addition to the monk community (and various other places) and I hope that time can bring you back to the game.

Sounds like the right decision for now, but just know that you'll be missed.

Sorry to hear that. I'm mostly a monk lurker but I post on rare occasions and came out on this one.  I hear ya pal....many of us are in the same boat. However, I always felt gaming was a great way to blow off some steam. Just throwing this out there.....have ya tried the egg timer system ? Literally...place an egg timer or alarm clock for a drop dead....who cares what happens...system shutdown deadline ?   A little is better than none and some "me" time is good for the soul ! Either way....best of luck !

Sorry to see yet another player sucked into the game of life. It seems to be a trend these days really. Have had 3 of my Guildmates in the same situation. Real Life getting to them so they spend less time or quiting all together. ( Way too much lag in that game for me sorry SMILEY ).

Best of luck to you though, when done right lifes rewards I hear can be more "Uber" than any other game out there.

Smart move, you won't regret it in the long run.  Just get involved into something with your kids and you won't miss EQ2.

You are doing the right thing.  It's not often when you read about a man and father being a "man" and "father".

Good job.  :smileyvery-happy:

BTW, you don't have to wait 15 years.  You only need to wait until your kids are 15ish.  At that point, MMORPGs become a tool and a weapon for a parent.

"[son or daughter], I'm sorry but we cannot play this quarter.  Your grades just aren't high enough.  Maybe next quarter.  And no, asking Grandma for a pre-paid will only get you on restriction."
