I thought they were changing the cestus graphic

I just bought my first set of cestus (I'm a big fan of 2h staves myself) and I see we still have that wierd barbed round thing as the graphic for them. I thought I read somewhere that they were going to add a model for the cestus that looks like....well, a cestus. If it's coming in the new patch and I'm just impatient or if I dreamed this, let me know.

A cestus is basically a metal boxing glove.. They had them on fist wraps for a bit. They are all messed up.. I dont even see why cestus are pierce..... They should be heavy hitting blunt.. wraps fast blunt.. cestii should be called katar and be slash or pierce.. Then they should give us sias or whatever as pierce or some salsh...

I do find it kinda odd that they have cestus and cestii as two different weapons (cestii is basically the plural for cestus). This kinda hurts my head, because cestuses isn't really correct, but cestii is a different weapon.

I quite like the Bowls of Doom, although i personally think they look more like a German WW2 Spiked helmet. This graphic is applied to Katar's as well, namely the Etheric Katar.

I always thought a Katar was a 3 pronged dagger/knuckle duster type thing. Just my 2cp.

Cestuses, that IS funny. Kinda like an clown shoe or whatever that is. They leave these errors in the game on purpose as a laugh I guess. I think its funny that stupid stuff like this even comes out in the first place.

The cestus? /shrug. I doubt imbue'd would change the graphic, and I saw a bruiser post the new ones after the graphic changed. They were a silverish with a long blade in the middle of the cup.

Theres a coldwind coast Katar in the game that has the spikey bowl model too. I never thought it made much sense considering that a Katar is a punch blade/dagger thing. As for the old fist wrap appearance : They were using the iron knuckle models for quite some time. I had /bugged it NUMEROUS times since release without much luck at getting SOE to notice. It wasn't until I opened a thread in the graphics and art forum showing screenshots of the model that a Dev finally responded and thanked me for pointing it out. As such it was fixed in the patch a few days later so that wraps once again look as if your fighting bare handed. Anyhow, my point here is that it seems like they may not even browse the /bug reports. Else why would the problem be neglected for so long, and then only a day or two after opening a thread they respond and fix the problem? Let alone that by the post they gave, they apparently didn't even know the problem existed. Why do we even bother /bugging anything if its ignored? SMILEY

Well, if you want something changed, I'd think the best bet is to open a thread on it in the non class specific forums. In addition, getting as many monks as possible to chime in on that thread in support may help as well.

The correct plural of cestus is indeed cestuses. There is another meaning for the word that refers to a type of belt, the plural for that is cesti. Cestii is not a word.

Cestuses are actually leather wraps that were used in ancient Greek hand-to-hand fights where the goal was only to knock the opponent out. They are basically ancient boxing gloves. Romans added metal studs and plates to make them more lethal. The EQ2 cestuses are nothing at all like the real world versions, but this does not make SoE wrong. It's their world, their creation, and they can call them whatever they want. I agree with the sentiment that they look ridiculous though. :robottongue:
