Greetings all, I have two main chars I've been playing, a 31 warden and 25monk . (well I also have a 24 dirge, 26 conjurer, 26 wizard ) SMILEY. I've pruned my list down to the above two and enjoy them both. The question I have is regarding the future.  I solo probably 70% of the time, and right now find both classes fine in that regard.  My concern though is the future.  I have heard talk of scout /tank balancing regarding dps.  Does that mean monks might be lowered, or is it just scouts that will get a boost? I like the mix right now, but if I knew say that monks dps was going to be reduced then I might just go on with my warden.   I like the monk, the ability to tank, or change a stance and do a bit more dmg etc.  And I like the staff animations! Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated Drevva

Its hard to know for sure what will happen without reading the mind of a Dev, but bear in mind that in the grand scheme of things, the scout architype WILL outdamage the fighter architype. But the thing is, this is pretty much already the case. So at the end of the day, its futile to try to predict the future. Just play what you enjoy, and if things change, well thats the nature of the game.

That is just entirely to reasonable SMILEY. My only thought is I like how they play now, and I dont' find them overpowered , but then then I haven't played a monk to know.  If the dps was say droped.  I don't think I would enjoy the monk for my play styel and habits. To be honest while the archtype system have merits I wish there was more variability between the classes, more true hybrid types.  I would be fine with not all tanks being the same, not all healers being able to heal as well as long as they were balanced in other ways. My dream is to win the lottery someday and develop a game with characters that aren't perfectly balanced but all are unique and have merit.  and I can just tell the whiners tough! when they complain SMILEY Drevva

If you're playing a monk because of the DPS then I agree you shouldn't continue with the monk. We will end up in our rightful place. tank first, DPS a distant second. However, it seems Wardens will be feeling the rough end of the Priest rebalancing, so I wouldn't hold your hopes out there. My suggestion is to play the class that appeals to you most, in style and flavour. Ultimately they should all fulfil the same role. I like crazy cool martial arts and the monk appeals.

Well I took my monk out dusted him off and played some last night (My warden was bout out of vitality SMILEY). I must say it was fun.  Fought various mobs in TS, relearning which skills to use,  figuring out what I would upgrade with my coral and jasper if I kept with this one. Thinking I will play the monk up to my warden (lvl 30ish) and make my decsion, I just may keep playing both SMILEY One thing I like is being able to run/move while using skills, combat arts, buffs etc.  Makes the game more fluid for me Drevva

i have a monk and warden as well..

the thing i like about being monk, or rather any tank..

i like being "in charge" of the group, the leader.  and tanks are;  you make the calls on what to attack, the group has not much choice but to follow you, and you can save the group..

wardens a lot of fun too (only fun healer IMO), but i hate not being THE tank.  i never trust anyone else to do the tanking, as many people are newbs and dont know how to tank ("duhhhhhhh i taunted 5 minutes ago why did i lose aggro duuuhhhhhhhhhhhh????????"
