Very cool, having looked over all the powers we get I must say I am really happy to have gone monk. We get great utility powers and we look good. SMILEY

Can anything see thru it?  I just got it and it lasted (timed) 1 min at App 1; Bought the App 3 scroll and it still lasted exactly 1min;  I am trying to figure out what I gained by upping it to App3 if it doesn't use less power and in return last longer.  My only thought was maybe the App3 gives me a greater chance for it not to be broken like the scout stealth?  Anyone have experience with this?

Does anything see through Wind Walk?  Most certainly!!  I was in TS and ran past a centuar and i got aggro'd and started attacking me.  When that occured Wind Walk broke and i came back normal.

As with all "Invisibilty" type spells, there will always be some mobs out there than can see thru it.  That being said, Windwalk is definately a great spell and gives the monk a much better way to travel thru hostile areas.  Combined with Feign Death/Play Dead there's not many places that one cannot travel to.  The power cost of the spell seems to be a bit high, but with the combination of good drink and/or personal pre-order jboots one can travel a great distance with the spell active.  From my testing of the spell...it seems to me that apprentice II+ seems to lower the amount of power drained per tick of the spell.  I'm up to Adept 3 atm on windwalk and would definately like to hear feedback from someone with a Master 1 ability.

So, I got app III. What in the world did it do? Part of me wonders if I'm using more power than before.

You need to understand how Windwalk works to understand what App III does for you.

Some people have pointed out that there are creatures that can see through Windwalk. What they are not saying, or don't understand, is that in a certain way any creature can see through Windwalk.

When you use Windwalk the game compares your level against the level of the creature you are trying to sneak past, plus possibly some modifier, and if the creature is too high then they automatically see through Windwalk.

How do I know this? Because shortly after getting Windwalk I was trying to recover a shard in RoV. I used Windwalk to slip past the first several groups of mobs but I then reached a Varsoon Guard who was able to see me (yellow++). I went back to town and bought an App III essence and suddenly he was no longer able to see me, so my assumption is that higher levels of Windwalk raise the level gap making it harder for mobs to spot you.

As I said I believe there is a modifier. Centaur Archers are able to spot me even though they are green to me. It could be that they automatically see through it but I suspect it is more complicated then that.

Also I have a suspicion that Feign Death operates on a similar principle. I know of at least one case where I successfully used FD against a high level mob and it continued to attack me while I have never had a case where I succeeded against a low level mob and had it continue.

This makes sense, and your FD theory can be proven by typing /feign after feigning

WW, works better than most scout invis, and yes I can invis Vs red mobs. The down side is, that it drains power consistantly so it does not last all that long. Mobs with see invis (like casters, and scouts) can see it, but they can see all invis.I find it useful to scout out a room or area before pulling it. I use it alot when we are checking on named mobs, i just pop in un noticed and pop out if the named is not up, or whatever.

Do any of you people have a caster or scout class?  Wind Walk works the same way as any invisibility spell or stealth skill.  The higher your ability, ie: app1 to master, the higher level the mob is you can go by without it seeing you.

While 'invisible', just stray away from mobs that still have a red outline around them.  Otherwise, they can't see you.  If you're getting tired of not being able to get passed a few certain mobs, go find or buy the next level or two up of the ability from your own.

Since I didn't see it explicitly noted here:

When you engage Wind Walk (WW), after a few seconds, some mobs that con as kos will lose the red highlight around their name, hence they will not aggro you if you run past them.

From my experience with WW, there are two different reasons for mobs seeing through WW.  The first simply being the level of the mob.  It seemed to me that most orange and red mobs were not fooled by WW.  Almost every yellow or lower mob was fooled.

However... mobs that are "scout-type" seem to have a higher chance of seeing through WW.  Most of the time, even Centuar Archers/Huntresses still conned kos.

Another good "proof" that scouts have a higher "see invis" ability is that I tried WW against a group of yellow giants.  Now, they were a yellow group, (no arrows) with 1 scout and 2 non-scouts (firerock guards I believe).  So, they were all the same level.  The guards were fooled by WW, but not the scout since he still checked as kos.  But, all in all, it really is a very very nice ability.

I got to further test out its usefulness while harvesting in TS.  I was roaming around the SE portion of the map where all the skeleton mobs hang out (mostly yellow with some red).  This was a great area to harvest items because its so dangerous... that sounds contradictory.  Well, there were a lot of nodes there because no one could get in there safely to harvest them.  For the most part, WW let me pass by groups of mobs safely so I could get to harvesting points.  It only failed against a few bat-type mobs (bats probably can't be fooled because they don't use sight, only sound... just a guess) and a few orange-red mobs.

However, a red warlock type skeleton wandered over, proceeded to nuke me and DoT me... I FD and failed.  Got up, sprinted ahead and FDd successfully (near where I party was hunting).  The DoT managed to kill me though...  So, I go back to the Revive spot and work my way to my corpse.  That party had left and my corpse is stuck right underneath a group of orange mobs and with a lot of wanderers about.

But guess what?  WW doesn't break when you pick up your shard.  I must say that FD + WW is such a great tandem.  Imagine if SOE added a "drag corpse" function... that would make monks all the better SMILEY

I just got Wind Walk last night and I LOVE IT almost as much as I love FD!

FD has the /feign command that allows you to see a creatures "seefeign" value.  Is there a similar command for Wind Walk?

I wonder if WW uses the same amount of power as Sprint. If WW uses a fixed amount of power per tick instead of percentage, Tier 4 drink might let you WW forever.
