I cross posted this from my post on the swashbuckler forums, wanted to see if any zerker's here may have tried a swashbuckler at one time and could offer me some guidence SMILEY

I duo with my wife and we are tying to find a good duo because we don't have lots of moments where we can play for more then 30 mins straight.  We had a 50 Ranger/Fury combo before we quit about 3 months ago.  The problem with this combo is the Ranger can't use his CA's once engaged with the mobs and the blue Named's took him out pretty fast.

So I started playing my old level 32 zerker with her Fury mentoring me.  We do pretty well.  Most blue named we dont have a problem with unless they nuke heavy.  White nameds we usally get creamed on unless we are real lucky.  Just seems to take a while on the fights since the DPS isn't all that great.

I really like DPS classes, so now we are thinking about doing a Swashbuckler/Mystic since I read that they are a good combo. I will mainly be a tank swashy going down the STA line using the buckler most of the time.  I was trying to get anyones input who has tried this combo.  Will we prolly do beter then the zerker/fury combo as far as named MOBs/grouped heroics go?

Thanks for any info/advice.  Dont feel like leveling us up to lvl 35 just to see the zerker/fury combo was better.

I've never tried that combo before but I can tell youflat out won't be a good 1... I know swahy's are the "tanks" for scouts but they don't get high enough mitigation or avoidance to be a successful tank against a named mob or a triple up heroic.

If you want DPS go with a monk or bruiser

I 2 box warden/berserker.  I could handle RE, CT, Clefts, Vault, and currently Scornfeather's Roost (not the Harpies though) at the appropriate levels for each of those zones.  Berserkers come into their DPS later in life...and AE DPS is really their specialty.  The snakes in the roost are white to me and I have no problem with them.  The harpies have stuns and damage shields and such, so I can't handle them yet.  With 2 people playing, you should perform better than a 2 boxer...I wouldn't give up on your zerker yetSMILEY.

In addition to the above, some of the Swashies DPS also stems from positionals (side, back, stealth.) Against heroics, the stuns often don't stick to get those positionals attacks. A tank/dps duo might actually perform better than scout/healer; We've done monk/ranger and zerker/warlock. The fights are very close, usually successful but not always. Now in our 50's, our zerker/fury duo is quite good, and can handle more mobs and adds better than any other combos we've played. Scout/healer in my experience is very tricky and generally hasn't worked as well as other duo combos we've tried.

Of the combos asked about in your title, I would choose Zerker Fury.

I have played a Mystic to 58 and mothballed it after KoS came out.

I have a 47 or so Fury and I LOVE playing it.

You have plate, DPS, and healing all in one duo.

This is a really easy direct choice and have seen both played a lot!! The most effective DUO in my guild is a swashbuckler/mystic pair. This pairing deals out FAR more damage than zerker/fury. The swashie should go stamina line (sword + shield), this gives hitpoints about the same as a paladin, mitigation slightly less than plate and avoidance slightly less than a monk......your high damage, extra taunts mean agro will never leave you! the mystic buffs the right stats to boost your dmg and hps further! Sword +board swashies with the +50% DPS for that line, actually gain DPS too (compared to duel wield, but not the wisdom line) SMILEYSO in summary you will be an effective light tank, boosted by wards/buffs and deal out much greater damage than the other combo. Not trying to flame zerkers (my favorite tank class) but would hate to see you take the advice above which i honestly believe to be wrong! We've parsed the damage at equal lvl and in equal rare crafted kit (tier 6) and its a massive difference in DPS too. I'll post the logs later if i have time (exams atm)

(which is what the thread was about I believe)  Or do you mean as a duo in general PVE the swash/mystic is superior?  I'm new so I honestly don't know but it seems that my Swashbuckler is taking quite a beating from named MOBs so far at the early levels.  My zerker feels more sturdy but in both cases I have a Fury with me.
