Question on how to play Berserker

I am new to EQ2, and even newer to Berserker. I started playing as a ranger, but after 100 too many bad tanks causing the group to wipe, I had enough and decided to take on the role myself.

My question is on how berserkers do their damage. With my ranger, it was with constant combat arts, one after another for huge damage hits. However, when I play with my berserker, it seems the auto-attack is often more powerful than the combat arts I have. This may be due to my level, and I have better gear than most noobs because I had my ranger supply some coin, but I am not sure.

When you get higher in berserker, is it combat arm spam for dps, or just a few selected combat arts to add states and then auto-attack for the biggest part of the damage?

Well it really depends on how good your weapon is plus your attributes vs. the level of your spells and how good you are with them (In other words if you are using the heroic oportunities asap, while spamming everything else in between SMILEY

. I have some of the best duel wield items, 2H items, max strength, and all spells ad3 or better, and I have found most of my damage comes from CA's. Now if you run out of power (which you never want to do in case you lose aggro), then obviously your weapon.
