I have searched up and down on info on how to get this shield to proc with nothing found. How do you get the shield to proc? it says "When target is damaged with a SPELL", since when did we get spells? Is this shield ONLY made to look good? Maybe im reading it wrong or maybe im just missing something lol but would like to know who its ment to proc. Thanks

You are slightly misreading it. The target is you because the proc is on you, you are its target. Therefor, when You get hit by a spell, it has a chance to proc.

It's pretty much an anti caster shield.  I like the vilucidae shield for pure melee mobs.

but yea, it casts Ward of Valor on YOU when equipped.

Actually, I have a question fot the people that use this.

I can't decide about the qeynos guard.  Is it that good?

The stats on it are kinda "meh" - compare it to the stupidly easy to get dracon deflector i currently use a lot of the time unless i need a resist that's on another shield (i have other tower sheilds on my hot bar for quick swapping out for tower of stone - i actually prefer not to get my main shield broken, so whichever i'm using for a fight i tent not to tower of stone with it)

That doesn't inspire a lot of drooling from me....

The only thing it's got over it is the proc:

Question is, does it proc often enough (and the proc be good enough) to make a difference?
Spell damage on raids = AoE's....  5% chance to go off every minute or so? Sounds like once a zone to me, but maybe i'm wrong.

I know i'd never use the claymore, but it's THE qeynos claymore.  I know pulling it out and waving it around will put a smile on my face even at lvl 80 (THE SWORD YOU PERVERTS) as where i expect the shield will be vendored as soon as i get a lvl 80 fabled one.

I know there was a big load of discussion about how rubbish it was soon after KoS launched and the first few people got it, but now people have had the chance to use it, does it proc enough to make it worthwhile?
Do you find youself going "wow, that proc really saved my [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] that time!"?

i'm still kinda disapointed that the highest protection shield in the game is a kite shield............................. /cough

As far as the difference -> The qeynos guard is a great shield to use against casting mobs... prolly the best.  For other types of mobs it's up to you.

Hmm, well it's only really the dragons that i'd considder "casting mobs" when it comes to epics - ok most have a casted aoe but it's only really the dragons that have a casted attack that scared me as their frontal cones do hurt.  Maybe it's a good anti-dragon shield :smileyindifferent:

This shield is hardly usable for any real fights, there are only few pure-caster epics or even heroics. Best for melee would still be Vilucidae's shield IMO.

The stoneskin proc doesn't work. I've proc'd it a couple times and have not had it absorbed any attacks. It just stays up the entire 3 minute duration without  doing a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] thing.

lol quit being silly, best shield to use against casting mobs is the shield that has resistance for those casting mobs

this shield is rather worthless unless u go against melee only mobs to give u a tiny boost to the mit, in fact the only reason i use this shield is for its super nice textures... omg is there ANYTHING in this game that come even near to prettiness this shield provides?
DID NOT THINK SO!  now come here and lets mate

aye I checked that out.. I was duoing vs a low levell dirge or some such thing jsut letting him hit me.. un grouped and in fact the queynos did proc stoneskin and actaully soak the dmg as well... however he was baeting on me for ilke 5 mins and it only did proc once..

which seems a bit unrealistic

yes, but as others are pointing out, or if you read it, it only procs on SPELL damage.  Also makes me wonder if some of these mobs are using combat arts instead of spells, which would make it even more useless.

Unless you are fighting a really tough caster that only uses spells and very little or no melee (which I can't think of any atm in t7), the vulicide's is ALWAYS better since it procs on melee damage, and every single thing we fight are hitting us with melee.

My point exactly.

If you've tanked the raids to get this as apposed to just tagging along, then really, is it any use?  My thoughts, probably not...  I was just asking for someone that actually has it and uses it to give me some real insight.  I'm not interested in it's ability tank heroics... come on...  you've tanked tarinax for this, what interest do you have in anything heroic?
