![]() Anyone know how exactly this works? I have always assumed that it effectively increases your "relative" mitigation versus whatever mob your fighting. ie, if you are level 70 with +36 defense in gear, then you are effectively level 77 for to hit and mitigation purposes against that mob. Is there a cap on the amount of +defense one can have? As I keep finding more and more + defense gear! not only are there many items in KOS that have +def on them, but some of our CAs allow us to buff this up too. Its generally accepted that +5 defense no longer is an effective lv increase, but mearly adds to avodiance. Furthermore even though a developer said defense caps vs mobs at 80% actual gameplay shows you gain no additional benefit beyond the skill cap (6xlvl or 420 defense). You should gain 2.5% avoid for every 10 points in defense and it should cap at lvl 70 w 70 additional points including items and spells.

I no longer get an increase in avoidance once I pass +23 in defense gear. I am not sure if that is a cap in and of itself or if that is stacking into some innate defense. But there is a point that you will no longer get benefit for +defense items.Starke

![]() There was a post about this a little bit ago....--Beware....Paraphrasing!!-- Raising your defense will eventually cap you out to stuff that cons to you and lower. Anything over that cap will go towards mitg/avoid if you were fighting a higher level mob. So the example they used was something along....if you were say, 20 defense over the cap, you'd cap out, and wouldn't see any increase, however when you were to fight a yellow/orange mob, your defense would be as if you were of a higher level. Not sure if this is exactly correct, just trying to remember that post as well as I can....
